I'm not one to sing my own praises but these softies are amazing sensory toys! I started off making ROCK-er's because they are super cute and quirky.
I have seen first hand how these creations calm little souls. I had a friend over and her little guy was losing his s#$t. NOTHING was working. His mumma asked if I had one of my bears he could use (she forgot to bring his from home). I grabbed one of my daughter's, gave it to him and silence! I nearly weed my pants I was so happy and excited that something I (ME) created could make such a little soul feel calm. I have heard this so many times throughout my Charli and Millicent's journey. This is what keeps me going.
To the little kiddos who want to take them everywhere, to the unwell babes in hospital with their pals, to the elderly ladies who smile because of the weird and quirky creatures, to the families who have ROCK-er's that look like their pets or past pets, to the people who use them as cushions on their bed, to the babes that aren't even earth side yet who own a ROCK- er and to ALL of my customers past and present THANK YOU I love what I do and definitely don't want to stop . So keep those precious orders coming through and I will make you something truly special!!!
Been busy doing a lot of sewing recently, making things ready for Christmas..... I know it's only September but as soon as it starts feeling autumnal outside Christmas is on my mind. My favourite time of the year when everything is cosy, twinkly and delicious ✨
You can see my projects @joelybuttonmakes 😊💕
A picture never tells the whole story. It's been a tough day and I have struggled to get going mostly down to all the new skills that I am acquiring in felt floristry. It's truly fantastic and really makes me think more openly about how I work. All important and sometimes painful lessons 🌿🌿🌿🌹🌸🌺🖒🏽
#sewphotohop day 20 - special occasion // I don't have all that many special occasions to justify fancy frocks, so last year my sister and I started a new tradition we call Fancy Lady Day, part of it involves putting on our finery and heading out for high tea like the damn fancy ladies we are 😂. Last year I made a velvet dress, and green suede and gold shoes... need to start plotting this years outfit 🤔
#sewphotohop day 18 - one piece or separates // usually a hard lean to separates but looking at my planning pipeline I'm spying quite a few skirts... Which also means I need to be upping my top game... #ddreglisse
About 10 years and 2 months ago I graduated from the Theatre and Performance Design degree at LIPA and I made the dress I wore under my gown. In that void after finishing my studies and before finding regular employment (not that I ever really did) it was good therapy to spend some time creating something for myself. I used a sheath dress pattern by @burda_style and some stretch navy and white tiny dogtooth check fabric from Abakhan, maybe, or Ebay, I forget. Anyway, I felt bloody brilliant in it. I wore it with some red rockabilly style snakeskin heels and a really wide stretch belt. I've still got the dress, but I shortened it to knee length, got rid of the knotted straps and lowered the neckline. I haven't worn it since, but I'm sure I will, one day. #sewphotohop#specialoccasion @houseofpinheiro @stylemakerfabrics
#sewphotohop day 17 - handmade holiday// all of my holidays are handmade, I like many sewists suffer from the affliction of #manicholidaysewing , which unfortunately gets reinforced when I succeed in prancing about on holiday with @ju.bell both of us decked out in #houseofhils 😂😀
Oooh Signature Style is a tough prompt, I don't know if I've got one?! Maybe people who know me IRL might have a more objective view than me. I think it might involve black tights and mini skirts actually, teenage habits die hard. But if I had to pick a dream signature style I'd pick something like Bel Rowley in the hour, all jewel colours and pencil skirts and Ben Wishaw in a devil may care slightly undone tie......... #sewphotohop @namedclothing @houseofpinheiro
More workshop wonders. I taught almost 300 people over the weekend how to sew a simple sparkly motif. I loved the way everyone (from 8 to practically 80) then got creative with their own patterns and designs. So. Much. Fun. Scroll through the gallery to see the creations 👉👉👉

You can take the girl out of the city, but she's still going totally going to take yarn with her! Had to sneak a select few balls of cotton into my luggage, of course. Today we got the train to Bruges (check out my story) and I hooked my way there and back. Handmade roses are going to look so beautiful in these muted, petal hues. Are you a 'making on the go' kinda gal? My hands always have to be doing something! ✂️👋🏼💕
