For a mother balancing home and farm work is difficult. The biggest worry for Mary is that her crop is not sufficient plentiful to fill two 100kg bags. Only fully loaded bag are traded at the market so if she can not fill her load she can only sell one bag the rest she has to batter on the village square where no one is prepared to exchange much against her maize. Storage would help but to construct a proper unite is beyond her budget. Left with all the pressure she cultivate only a small plot and goes to a big farm for day labour.
Traveling as a photographer and resercher every trip falls or exells on the local connections. Mr Bangura was a particular great guide we had on our team. much thanks to him. made the tip fun, productive and very interestring.

died #November25 , 1997 – #HastingsBanda , Malawian physician and politician, 1st #President 0_of_Malawi (b. 1898)
#HastingsKamuzuBanda (14 May 1898 – 25 November 1997) was the leader of #Malawi from 1961 to 1994 (for the first three years of his rule, until it achieved independence in 1964, Malawi was the British protectorate of Nyasaland). After receiving much of his education overseas, Banda returned to his home country (then British Nyasaland) to speak against colonialism and advocate independence. In 1963 he was formally appointed prime minister of Nyasaland and, a year later, led the country to independence as Malawi. Two years later he proclaimed Malawi a republic with himself as president. He consolidated power and later declared Malawi a one-party state under the Malawi Congress Party (MCP). In 1970 the MCP made him the party's President for Life. In 1971 he became President for Life of Malawi itself.

My students and I had an awesome time at today’s charity sale and auction. Proceeds will be donated to The Jacaranda School in Malawi (Southeast Africa). Our class’s auction item was a basketball decorated with each student’s signature. It symbolizes teamwork, unity and perseverance, which are all qualities equally important both inside and outside of the classroom. Students also donated and created their own items to sell in efforts to support the cause, and they were very excited to do so! #VankeSchool#TheJacarandaSchool#China#Africa#Asia#Malawi 💕
