It was a short trip but jam-packed with foodie finds courtesy of @iamsuperbianca, and this is possibly one of the best meals of the lot!
I love the unfussy casual vibe of @heyhandsomecome, their unique cocktails, their charming handmade ceramic dishes that look like paper plates, and of course, the Southeast Asian flavour combinations that were an absolute treat for the tastebuds. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ° • Torched paneer in a beetroot and yogurt sauce with poppadoms
• Barbecued aubergine and fish crisps on a salted egg purée
• Duck breast slowcooked till it falls apart then fried to a crisp, complemented by a lovely onion relish and a mild curry sauce. 🏆
My new favorite dessert is Jollibee’s Strawberry Choco Sundae! It’s a masterclass in maximalism: it uses classic vanilla soft-serve as its base and generously drizzles it with chocolate fudge and strawberry syrup, then tops that with a crunchy chocolate coating and chewy brownie chunks.

Finishing touches on the tiramisu. I really hate messing up on this part of the cake. Cause it's like I just wasted days of work 😂. When it happens I have to chuck it. And I really wanna throw it at something. But then I'll just end up having to clean up the mess so I lose again 😂. I haven't messed up in a long while so all good.
Last weekend, I bought Spinach and Feta Börek (Phyllo based filled pastry rolled into a spiral form and sprinkled with sesame seeds) at Sidcor Market and Mushroom Bourekas (using homemade stretched dough and shaped into a palmier) from Legaspi Market. I also got Kesong Puti (Fresh White Cheese) at Sidcor to have it with some mini Flaxseed Pan de Sal, which is literally translated to Salt Bread. In this case, bread rolls typically eaten for breakfast or for snack that is soft and has some sweetness to it.
I got ingredients from @ritualph at Legaspi Market. Kalingag bark (Cinnamon Mercodoi) is indigenous to Philippine soil but is at risk due to the popular use of it's lumber for housing and bark for medicinal purposes for which its cures ranges for flatulence, tuberculosis, diarrhea, may be comparable to aspirin, prevention of diabetes and has anti fungal and antiseptic properties, as well as having a reputation as an aphrodisiac for men, amongst its many other and possible uses. It doesn't have the typical cinnamon aroma but instead has a slight anise smell to it. Kalumata leaves (Clausena Anisum or can be locally called Dahon ng Anis or Kayumanis). It is used for treatment of rheumatism, cure for cough and fever, helping alleviate nausea in pregnancy, and in China, treatment of dysentery and arthritis. It also has antifungal,insecticidal, and antimicrobial properties. Leaves has also been used to flavor cigarettes. So far, I have only seen recipes using the leaves for Bulacan cookies called Gurgurya (also known as Gorgorya or Golloria), a seashell shaped fried cookie coated in Kalumata leaf flavored caramel.
I got some Patis (Fish Sauce) as I try to find good sources for it since I love using patis for cooking as well as a a condiment. Unfortunately for us, our patis has a lot of ingredients that should not be found in patis such as preservatives and caramel color. I am hoping that in the future more of our patis producers go back to its traditional method of pure fish and salt and waiting for its natural fermentation to occur, letting proper flavors to develop before the nectar is bottled.
Chocolate Crepe Cake
This took me 1-2 hours just making the crepes but so worth it! This is not my first time making a crepe cake but it is my first time making a chocolate flavored one so it was a new experience for me. My family had a go at this one and said that they loved it :) If you are planning to make this, you probably gotta allot 2 hours in total but if you’re like me, you’d probably give yourself a pat on the shoulder and a slice of this awesome cake for a solid job.
