Its not the destination, It's the glory of the ride." - Edward Monkton ✌️
Life sure takes us on a ride full of ups and downs. But I'm a firm believer that there's always a way to your dreams no matter how winding the path.
Despite the intense and exciting months of training, finishing my first marathon last week was surprisingly anti-climactic 🤔
I just wrote a blog post about why I think the finish line was underwhelming, and the life lesson I learned from the experience.
If you're interested in that kind of thing, the link to my blog is in my bio 😉
How awesome is this! 💥 Thanks to the genius of Lauren's (Dance Physio @theoptimalhealthlab), the Dance Podiatrist and Physios have a unique tool to measure your turnout. It is simple, elegant, and easy to use. 💚 why not come in and see "how much turnout" you've got 😉
Hello strangers! It's been a busy week or so, prepping for the big job fair on campus this Thursday (graduating this coming march and the pressure is on for job hunting🙈) already angsty for my #marathon this weekend..AH! Haha 1) how did it come up this quickly and 2) is it bad to hate the final week of tapering? I feel like I'm not doing anything but def don't wanna over work so just trying to keep busy with other things. Papers the occasional friend hangout and more papers have consumed most days. A pic from the gym bathroom cause that's as good as it gets as of late🕺🏼 check in again soon! #tiu#tiuteam#toneitup#tiu21#marathontraining#tiustudent#tiucollege#runner#tiuboston#tiurhodeisland
It was almost a year ago that I first heard about @love_runs and the work they do to fight human trafficking which is a major problem in Detroit. It was then that I decided to run the @freepmarathon and would run it for a charity for the first time.
I had no idea how much impact this would have on my life. The heartbreaking stories I’ve heard of young girls being taken and sent into sexually slavery were just unbelievable. But the hope I heard in the stories from victims who had been saved because of @love_runs fueled my reason to run this past Sunday. Some of those women were even at the race.
I am so thankful for those fighting this issue and I encourage you, if nothing else, to learn more. I guarantee you, if you heard the stories, you couldn’t help but get involved or contribute to the efforts. Of all the things that seem to enrage people these days, this needs to be given more attention.
I’m just over halfway to my goal and have until the end of the month to get there. If you’d still like to contribute, link is in the bio
One last post. Sunday's Marathon was tough it was hard and it took a tremendous amount of physical and mental strength. However I entered the marathon knowing that it wouldn't be the toughest, hardest or physically and mentally draining experience of my life. I knew this because I know what anxiety and depression does to a person. I believe you don't know what something's like until you experience it yourself which is why so many people won't understand my reasons to run the Melbourne Marathon. Some even called me crazy.... thanks guys 👍🏽. But not only did we raise over $3,500 for Beyondblue 🦋 we ran for all those people who have lost their lives who could have been saved and we ran for every person out there who continues to struggle. Maybe you find it hard to talk about but you'll never find anything harder than living with anxiety, depression, PTSD or whatever it might be. So thankyou to all those that donated and made someone else's life a little bit brighter. And thanks to the best team I could have asked for. This article is one of so many that gave us the determination to do more 💙 ✌🏽 #marathon#melbmara#medallion#beyondblue#mentalhealthawareness
