This is an old RAF training base which has been turned into a new build housing estate, luckily they kept the old track. Although they just shoved a load of concrete on the top, but it’s good as a base for some 400m reps.
Today was training with @andreameek13, who is running @londonmarathon for #VICTA (as is @ianrunsldn - check out their pages and sponsor them if you can!)
Andrea’s plan was 12 x 400m at 8:30min mile pace. I’d figured I could run 400m then use hers as recovery’s.
That didn’t work at all as 8:30 was way too fast to recover, so I then went to “normal recoveries!” which were recovery drags in the end 😂
I always start out conservatively with reps as I’m so scared to burn out and actually got faster on the last 6 laps.
I love the feeling of not being able to give anymore; that burning in your lungs and thighs and hammys! I’ve missed it so much.

Nothing makes you feel more out of shape than your first track day in months with 16 mph winds. But it will only make me stronger, right?! Well let’s hope so because I don’t think I’m going to be able to move well for the next couple of days. I did a two mile warm up (uphill getting to the track) 12 x 400 with 400 recoveries in between with a 1.5 mile CD. I never came anywhere near my goal paces, but I’ll get there with consistency and patience. I’ve done it before, I’ll do it again. Oh and I had a track day without any skunks or raccoons chasing me 🙌🙌

Discipline is a huge part of my life right now and I've made it part of my daily routine. To train for something big or little you have to have discipline. Learning to say no to what you want and yes to what needs to be done is a challenge, but worth it in the end when you crush your goals. Just make sure you make time for play too. She stopped running due to injury (ITBS) but I taught her how to resolve her pain while and after running by replacing her wrong shoes, correcting her poor and wrong running form (individualised/varies), and a scientific (evidence based) training plan that made her cross the finish line (1st ever 21Km Run: Run for Lupus) last sunday without pain (re-injury) and when she was running without pain her speed/pace improved automatically & effortlessly. #NewtonRunning#Garmin#HokaOneOne#CWX#Fuelbelt#RUNNR#RunningCoach#PhysicalTherapy
I really had to drag myself out of bed for this one. I laid there for probably a good 5 minutes trying to convince myself to skip it and go back to sleep. Sometimes you just got to remind yourself that you have goals and you’re not going to reach them by staying in bed. Usually once up I’m up and moving, I feel great. This wasn’t true for this one. The entire four miles was a mental struggle for me. Glad to have it done!

I wanted to do a few strict & slow curls to engage the bi & triceps. It’s a lot harder when you slow down, but you gain so much from it! .

Hoje 6,5k: 1500 m de aquecimento + 200m de recuperação andando + 4 tiros de 1000m intercalados por 200m de recuperação ( confesso que do 3º para o 4º tiro recuperei um tiquito a mais 😹 ) .
