I know, I know, I'm overloading your IG this weekend. I'm very sorry, but it will end soon, promise 😊. Today, I walk away with so much. A nice September sunburn (but only on the front since I was running directly into the ☀️), a terrible armpit chafe (how does that happen), a brand new PR during tough conditions, a bigger heart by seeing how much support I have and overall an amazing personal achievement. These 16 weeks of training were filled with emotion, not because of the hard runs or the 6 days of running per week but the fact that we faced our biggest loss during this cycle. Today would have been the exact day of the beginning of the second trimester, it hit me hard today as I thought of what it would have been like to share the news with the world. Of course I don't think we would have completed 26.2 together in this heat but finishing this marathon was exactly what I needed. I'm not saying I'll forget it forever after this day but it was as if the door closed on such an emotional time for me. I know I say it often, but I will forever be grateful for running. Those days that I couldn't talk to someone about how I was feeling, I could lace up and run. I can't imagine what I'd do if I didn't have this. Thank you again for all of the support, I am happily overwhelmed by the outpouring of love. I will respond to each and every one of you shortly! 💙
50F (11C) might have be a bit chilly for a 19 mi/30km run, but A good company willing to haul butt with me through all the random hills definitely helped. First marathon in 3 weeks! Wine and rest now. #marathontraining#colorado#hshive#gotailwind
Realized that the weather forecast lied to me. I was going to do 4 miles/4-100m sprints but I'll save that for tonight.
Everyone was out of the house and I was finished cleaning so I had to do something. Got my @niketraining app out and did the Leg-pocalypse program and I know I'll feel this later. I love it because my legs are so weak and the workout doesn't require any equipment. I did use my TV @apple adapter which I highly recommend for watching anything on the phone.
A couple things to watch out for on the app:
1. When you squat, don't keep your eyes forward. Allow your neck and head to move with the rest of your spine - stiffen it up to keep your spine neutral.
2. When jumping to gain momentum, instead of forcing your arms forward, do the opposite and squeeze your shoulder blades together. You'll thank me later. I won't take credit for that though. I found out the hard way when I did the opposite of what @thebettyrocker taught when I did her challenge. Plus, it just looks more graceful. 😊
11 weeks down, 7 more to go. 😳 I'm still contemplating if I should do a half this weekend.
I rarely don’t post about a race, even if it doesn’t go well...but it took me some time to get over this one. It was proof (besides lab-work results 😂) that I needed to stop my CIM training and focus on getting healthy. It’s been a month of taking liquid iron and I can feel my ferritin levels coming back up and am finally starting to ENJOY running again. Last year at this time, I knew I could definitely break 18 in a 5K. At this race, I couldn’t even break 19 (I was being a baby and crying under those Goodrs). I was sad to let CIM go because it’s the BEST and the home course, but I signed up for Boston, so I have that to look forward to! I did like winning wine at this race though- good consolation prize 😁🍷 #runnersofinstagram#igrunners#running#runhappy#runner#marathontraining#sweatpink#runcim#run#goodr#runnerscommunity#5k#santarosa5k
•••BOURSIN STUFFED SALMON SALAD••• This was so flavorful that I didn't even use any dressing! Stuffed the salmon with Garlic and Herb Boursin, topped it with some parmesan cheese and drizzled it in olive oil, lemon juice and seasoned it with garlic salt. Baked at 450° for 20 mins. Sat this beauty on a bed of spinach, feta and parmesan cheese. Hard boiled eggs round out this beautiful salad! It was so pretty I almost couldn't eat it... yeah right- I devoured 😎 #MissingBacon#Salad#Salmon#Spinach#Keto#Instafood#KetoIsLifeDietBet#FoodPorn#FoodPhotography
That was a hot one! I am definitely a morning runner not a late afternoon/evening one!😝However you take the time slot you're given and I am more than grateful to be building my mileage back up and pain-free!💕🙌🏻So cheers to that🥂Oh, missed my planned open water swim this morning as my nose/throat did not feel great this morning so that was a bummer. This evening will make 24 hours on antibiotics though, so 🤞🏻Picked up my new bike helmet that I plan to use tomorrow, yay!!🚴🏼♀️Hope everyone is having a great weekend!👊🏻
Man, it feels nice to have a "good" day. My back was decent three days straight days. Today was a charity WOD for autism: "Luke" 5m AMRAP 4 Power Cleans, 24 Double Unders (single for me), 10 pull ups. We ended up doing this a second time with less weight and 3:30 on the clock.
Before that we went for 1RM on Power Cleans and Jerks. I PR'd by 20lbs in both. After that I snuck in about 6 miles of running and walking with my best friend and his family. 20 tomorrow, but I'm fully ready to shorten it for the weather if necessary.
10.51 miles total this morning including some faster than I've ever done in a non-race setting. Still smiling about this one:
3 miles up w strides
2 miles at 6:23, 6:23
4 min walk/ jog
1 mile at 5:55 🙌🏼
4 min walk/ jog
1 x 800 in 2:49
4 min walk/ jog
2 x 400 in 1:22, 1:21
1 min walk between each
2.5 miles down
Talk about changing up the paces!! The benefits of doing this every now & then vs. always running at a steady state are huge.
Really happy with that 1 mile split up there😊. I can clearly remember struggling to hit a sub 6 pace in 1 mile races not too long ago. Now I'm throwing it into a workout with plenty left in the tank.
Followed this up with a TON of stretching as I spectated kid soccer games. #happysaturday#gettinthere#iseeyouNYCmarathon
It may be hot out for the next few days, but this shot is #PureMichigan in autumn. Training continues for the @freepmarathon with our runners preparing for extra long runs tomorrow. Full marathoners will be going for 20 miles and half-marathoners will be going for 12 miles. Wish us luck! [📸 @lena_tarraf]
Some people know it's fall when the air turns brisk and pumpkin spice everything hits the shelf. We know it's fall when cross country season begins. We lace up our cross country flats and break out our running singlets. We got new FIT Potato singlets on the way. Can't wait for their debut race.
