Hey guys! I am working closely with @hugscafe which is a Cafe in McKinney, TX that empowers and employs adults with special needs. They offer them professional and practical training that they can use to gain employment in the food and service industry.
If you are a business owner or even if you aren’t and would like to donate something to their silent auction during this years Gala, make a monetary donation, or buy a ticket to the Gala please let me know!
I will be attending for the second year in a row and @totaleventaudio will be donating our DJ and Lighting services. I would love to see a couple of my friends there if possible!
Day 144 of my run streak started off casually: in Minnesota, woke up early to catch up on emails and personal tasks, enjoyed a nice breakfast with fresh fruit & black coffee, and a fun morning training on a powerful software tool. My end-of-day goal was to complete 4 miles around the nearby lake that’s tree-lined with leaves of every color. 🍁 •
The day ended with my wife getting a stomach bug, barely able to take care of herself between bouts of barfing, and no family even in Texas available to help. Thanks to a good family friend who chauffeured kids and fetched drugs & food, things were calm enough down here while I rearranged my travel plans to return home tonight vs. my original plan of tomorrow evening. 🤢 •
After rousing the boy to take cough syrup for his own cold & spraying with disinfectant key the couch I’ll be sleeping on tonight, I got my mile knocked out just now. Now I get to clean the house, lay out the kids’s stuff for school, and do all the dishes that piled up. Then I’ll wake up in the morning, get Z & P out the door, then catch up on the work I missed this afternoon. #Life 👨👩👧👦
If you were to ask me why I’m doing a run streak, it’s because when literally every plan, schedule, and expectation breaks down like it did today, running at least one mile a day is a tangible thing I am in complete control of, a little thing I can do for myself, which aggregates in benefits for my body & soul. Like anything worth it, making a run streak happens takes work, so I’m grateful while it lasts. 🤞🏻
So remember everyone: don’t have kids if you never want to get sick again. But if like us you cannot avoid ‘em because they’re so stinkin’ *cute*, then remember to wash your hands frequently. 🙂
