This place kinda surprised me overall. It's not much to look at from the outside but is pretty big and lively! I had taken look at the menu beforehand and knew I'd get the burger :) It was actually really well done but the star on that plate was the roasted sweet potato! That was just sublime!! This was followed up by a some fudge and vanilla ice cream served with an interesting beetroot coulis! When there's fudge on a plate, I can hardly concentrate on anything else and this was really good fudge! I first thought it was a raspberry coulis but turned out to be beetroot - who knew?! This was a good experience though the wine did disappoint a little. There's a slight hipster / vegan vibe to the place which may be good or bad depending on your perspective :p
I finally had the opportunity to dine at Peter Luger and they did not disappoint!! The evening started with us sitting at the bar waiting for our table while a Michael Caine lookalike bartender poured us some really stiff booze. Man, that has to be one of the heaviest pours I've ever seen 😂
Once seated, we knew exactly what to get and got right down to it. What followed was a sweet symphony of meat starting with the thick cut bacon! We went really nuts and decided to get two pieces a head! My friend did mention that we may be overdoing it but I shushed away all his protests 😂 Looking back, maybe one piece a head would have sufficed :p The bacon is really tender and just melts in your mouth.
We then had the steak for two and ordered it of course medium rare :) It was delicious! The juices flowing on the plate is a testament to how well prepared that steak was! After the steak and with our stomachs bursting we had the apple strudel with their homemade schlag! Man alive, that was a lot of food and I don't think I'd had so much sugar in a single sitting for quite a while! But of course, it was amazing! Great way to end the night!
The service at Peter Luger is top notch. Right from the generous bartender, the old school maître d' using a large board to track customers to the ever jovial waiter this was a fantastic experience well worth the price!
Great little burger spot in Brooklyn! The funny thing though is that it's the fried chicken that blew me away! I swear it was some of the best I've ever had!! I went for the sliders since I wanted a taste of all the different varieties they had for the burgers but that may not have been a wise choice. Too much going on in a small bite to really ascertain flavors :) Plus the meat tends to get over cooked easily in such small portions!
Has a very hipster feel to it but I guess that's all of Brooklyn! I'd really recommend going there for a full burger plus those glorious wings!
I've been a little lazy so there's a big backlog of posts that I need to go through 😬
Amazing dinner @ Buvette! Starting from the cheese and charcuterie platter to the Coq au Vin, everything was really nicely presented and had great flavor. The service was attentive and they had a great wine selection too!
This is a very tiny space in the West Village but worth checking out!
