Monday morning #MealDiary - I finally pulled out my new kitchen scale and started measuring my macros this morning.  It’s not as daunting as it seems, but did take me a while. This day of eats is short a few grams of carbs & proteins, but I'll sneak those in towards the end of the day.  As I get more comfortable with weighing and tracking my foods, I'll start to share more information.🤓
I've been making all of my meats in my new Air Fryer 🙌🏻 the outside comes out crispy with a delicious juicy inside - all cooked in little to no oil.  NOMS😋
Here's a look at the foods on deck for this week:
Morning: hot water + lemon // I’ll make matcha after I enjoy a full cup of water.
Breakfast: hard-boiled eggs + broccoli
Lunch: chicken + quinoa with spinach
Snack: rice cake with blueberries
Pre-workout: protein smoothie with spinach, pineapple & vanilla protein powder
Dinner: shrimp & zoodles - served with a garlic lemon sauce. #biteswithb

Small swaps can really add up! ❤️ Here are some more healthy substitutes to add to your routine. Breakdown below:

🍫 The milk chocolate bar has a whooping 44g carbs, 41g sugar only 2g fiber and 370 calories! The dark chocolate bar shown on the other hand had 13g carbs, 6g sugar, 5g fiber & 250 calories. With dark chocolate, you’ll feel fuller faster with the add fiber & won’t go through such a big insulin spike & crash.

🌽 Vegetable oil and canola oils are highly processed, heated, bleached, refined and deodorized. The hight heat these oils go through have negative impact on the healthy compounds in the oils & are stripped of much of their omega-3 fatty acids in the processing. Extra Virgin Olive oil is produced by cold pressing and doesn’t use chemicals for refinement & also avoids high heat treatment, leaving it full of heart healthy fats.

🥑 Sour cream adds about 40 calories & 6g of fat per quarter cup but doesn’t add much nutritionally. Guacamole on the other hand adds antioxidants, about 4g of fiber, potassium + more per quarter cup. Plus, you get all the heart healthy fats from the avocado.

Happy Monday friends! Are you ready for the week ahead?!
Here’s a sample day of what I’m eating this week:
Morning to noon: if I work out in the morning, then I’ll have my @womensbest BCAAs with it. Then the rest of my morning, I’ll only have herbal tea or water. Been doing 16-8 IF for over a year and love it! It takes the hassle out of breakfast planning and has lots of health benefits too.
Lunch: cauliflower rice, roasted butternut squash, roasted spaghetti squash, steamed kale and sautéed grass-fed ground beef.
Snacks: I’ll have snacks in between lunch and dinner. Green apples, raw coconut meat and avocado with rice cakes are my favorite!
Dinner: Curry Chicken Stew (check my last post for the recipe).

DEADLIFT SET UP FIX 🕵️

Foot placement seems like a simple concept right? It might be obvious to a lot of intermediate to experienced lifters.. But I’ve seen a few guys and gals making the mistake of pulling the weight up from a pretty crappy position.

Having the bar set up over your toes means the weight is probably out in front of you and not only means you’ll put yourself in a pretty vulnerable position, but you’ll also make the lift much harder for yourself.

Setting the bar up over your shoe laces/close to your shins/over your mid foot is a MUCH better and stronger position to execute the lift from.

You will be able to generate more power as you’ll have much better leverage, and you’ll give yourself the best chance to deadlift the weight without putting yourself at risk.

There are definitely healthy versions of peanut butter or even strawberry preserves if you prefer that over strawberries but steer clear of jams with high fructose corn syrup added and peanut butter with vegetable oils and added sugar. ▶️ Wonder bread vs. Ezekiel bread - Wonder bread has such a crazy long list of ingredients I couldn't even fit it in this caption reasonably. Where as Ezekiel bread has the following Ingredients: Organic Sprouted Wheat, Filtered Water, Organic Sprouted Barley, Organic Sprouted Millet, Organic Malted Barley, Organic Sprouted Lentils, Organic Sprouted Soybeans, Organic Sprouted Spelt, Fresh Yeast, Organic Wheat Gluten. Simple and minimally processed - now that's a win!

Since I've started doing this, I've noticed a drastic difference in my energy not just in the beginning of the day but also throughout the day. My mood is also better as well. 🤗😁

Like food, you should be drinking water throughout the day. But make sure to begin your day with a larger amount and feel the awesome difference it makes 😁😘

I DARE YOU TO COMPLETE THIS WORKOUT. Every superset, every set & rep!! In this leg workout i focused a lot on the eccentric phase of the lift and i want you to do the same. This will change your training. The eccentric phase of a lift is when the muscle lengthens, also known as the “down motion” of the lift. For example, the eccentric phase of a bicep curl is when you lower your arm down, the bicep muscle lengthens. Make sense? The eccentric phase of a squat is when you squat down, leg press: bringing your legs down. Ya got me? I kept 1-2 reps in the video not sped up because i want you to see my pace. Focus, concentrate and you will have the best workout of your life🍑

Two weeks ago i made my favorite slow cooker dish to date. It was moroccan chicken and chickpea stew. I did put the recipe on my story but am only getting around  to posting it here now.  I included the rice in this for convinience for lunches but if i was making it for dinner i would do the rice separately and just do the sauce and chicken in the the slow cooker. Anyway here are the ingrediants:

Serves: 6 people
Put on high for 3-4 hours

1.300g - butternut squash/ pumpkin
2. 1 x can chickpeas (drain and rinse)
3. 3 x garlic cloves
4. 1 x tsp ginger
5. 1 x red bell pepper
6. 3/4 cup lentils
7. 1 x med white onion
8. 3 cups veggie broth
9. 1 x can chopped tomatoes
10. 1/2  tsp cinnamon
11. 1 tsp paprika
12. 1/2 tsp salt and pepper
13. 1 tsp tumeric
14. 1 tsp cumin
15. 1 tsp hot chilli powder
16. 6 chicken fillets

With dark chocolate, you’ll feel fuller faster with the add fiber & won’t go through such a big insulin spike & crash.

The hight heat these oils go through have negative impact on the healthy compounds in the oils & are stripped of much of their omega-3 fatty acids in the processing. Extra Virgin Olive oil is produced by cold pressing and doesn’t use chemicals for refinement & also avoids high heat treatment, leaving it full of heart healthy fats.
