With this cold front approaching Florida, this meatless chili made in 10 minutes in my #instapot is so oo oo good. I added some sweet potatoes and mushrooms to give it that hearty feel. I am not looking forward to feel like temps of 20*. 🙅🏼
Greens, greens, greens! You don't need to be plant based to reap the benefits of greens though I encourage you to remove the meat from your plate. Greens like spinach and kale should be the star of the show not just a side dish. And making dressing at home without the sugar and dairy are simple! Don't forget to balance the dish with a healthy fat like walnuts or avocados. These allow your body to get the most from your raw green veggies. •

It’s 2018. If you still think vegans survive on salads, you couldn’t be more wrong. 😏🍔 @gardein burger with @followyourheart pepper jack cheese and ranch dressing, smashed avocado, tomato, and lettuce on a whole wheat bun.
“Don’t forget to eat breakfast!” If only I had a dollar every time I said that. I know you moms can relate. We know our kids are going to need energy and nutrition to do their best at school, so we remind them almost daily to eat. Because let’s face it - a teenager is going to sleep as long as possible in the morning. 🤦🏼♀️ Fact.
But without fuel, their brains won’t stay focused and they won’t be able to soak up all that amazing information in class. And calculus isn’t going to work out problems by itself. Essays won’t magically get written. And homework might accidentally get eaten by the dog.
So I try to make it as easy as possible on my kids. Keeping some quick and healthy options readily available helps to cut down on that repeated question: What do we have to eat?
These breakfast burritos from @sweetearthfoods is a great option for my kids (and me!). We were sent a few vegetarian and vegan burritos to try out, and they are amazing. Full of flavor (yes, really) and nutrition, and not full of any of the junk I don’t want my kids eating. I can safely say these will go into the breakfast rotation quite often. 🌯👌🏻#consciousbychoice#thenewhealthy
I know some people balk at the idea of vegan dishes.
For all who are certain vegan food is sprouts and lettuce leaves only, go try @eatbychloe. Trust me.
Their fare will seriously flip your internal table of what you think of vegan foods.
For instance, my meat loving boyfriend LOVED their #pestomeatball sandwich. (I took a bite and OMG delicious!) I am also so in love with the interior of their space and the swing chairs with the bright pop of tie-dyed pillows.
Makes me want to grab one of their coconuts, snag a swing and people watch all day long.
And #Providence you are in luck! Their spot on #ThayerStreet opens January 18th 2018 (that’s tomorrow!) Cheers to happy and #healthy eating!! #EatByChloe#PVD
Thanks for the invite to their special opening @pattyjdotcom !!

3 years progress, it’s a slow but steady sort of thing 💕
Three years ago I was in an abusive relationship and instead of leaving I would constantly internalize it. In my head it would be “he’s just this way because I’m not pretty enough” “he’s just doing this to me because he knows that I cannot do any better for myself” “I can’t leave because I am scum, I can’t even put down my cake fork” but eventually I did leave after several sexual assaults. It was HARD to get back onto my own feet financially and emotionally but I managed to get through. I stopped focusing so much on the aesthetics of healthy living and just let myself do what I wanted without hating myself. If I wanted cake I would eat that DAMN cake, if I wanted to feel good after eating I would eat clean foods. Eventually I found myself eating less cake (never actually giving it up lol) and more healthy food. The less strict that I became about my diet the more weight I lost. It’s all because I stopped stressing about it, stress can do awful things to your body ie, make you gain weight faster. Today I can deadlift one plate a side, leg curl 75lbs per leg, do a kazillion jump squats and see my toes 💁
My 2018 goals are NOT fitness related, health and fitness are always going to be a part of my life no matter what year it is. In my situation adding the pressure to look better actually deters me from working on it. My advice to anyone looking for it is just to do what makes you feel happy, not just your tummy but your heart too.
Hope you’re staying warm today!
About twice a month, I like to make freezer meals like this Slow Cooker Chicken Fajita Soup. They save time and mental energy that I can devote to other things in life (like building my businesses, spending time with family, sleeping, you know all that good stuff). Today it came in handy for our snow day, but just about any dish can be turned into a freezer meal.
Directions for making freezer meals: Toss all the uncooked ingredients in a freezer safe bag. Freeze for up to 3 months. Defrost and add to slow cooker and cook like normal.
I’ll be sharing more in freezer meals in the next few weeks, but they’re a life saver. Like Amazon Prime, once you make them, you’ll never understand how you lived without them.
P. S. No they don’t taste preciously frozen and yes, they’re safe to eat.
This is how a huge portion of our meals start. Short on time and think you couldn’t possibly cook a full meal? Try prepping your veggies ahead of time and when you’re ready to use them, throw them on a cookie sheet and roast them in the oven together!
The possibilities are endless!
