Although they closed this shelter down, there are great projects like http://www.homelessgardenproject.org/ that helps to make the above a reality for homeless shelters.
The organization, which services homeless and formerly homeless people in its sustainable facility, offers a number of programs to its clients. In addition to its growing gardening initiative, the Metro Atlanta Task Force has a 24-hour assistance hotline, day service center and transitional housing program, among other programs.
But the rooftop garden, which was first established in 2009, serves as a means to teach homeless people about urban food production and sustainable technologies, while also giving them the chance to feed fellow residents, according to the group’s website. “The idea is to produce enough to feed the residents something green and healthy daily,” Carl Hartrampf, a board member who manages every aspect of the garden, told Vice.
The first harvest this spring produced 55 pounds of greens.

Smallest fetal hand in an adult hand!
This was a case of a spontaneous miscarriage that ended up this way due to pregnancy complications. But the truly amazing thing here is what we start from, what life starts from.
This tiny hand isn't even fully developed, blood vessels aren't all functional, bones are soft, skin is thin, and the different nerves of the hand still developing, so it still has a bit more growing to do. This is one proof out of a million that we are all made delicate, just as an artwork is being made, in which the tiniest little details are crucial.
Be careful when cleaning your motorcycle this term. 😫
“I was about to go for a ride today and my chain was pretty nasty, so I put it up on the stands and got out the wd-40 and a rag. I started the bike, put it in gear and let it idle. I sprayed the chain down really well and I put the rag up to it and it got caught and took my hand with it through the rearsprocket. I had to have everything above my last joint amputated on my index, pointer and my ring finger on my right hand. Thankfully I am left handed. It was a stupid mistake on my part and now I will forever pay the price for it.”
Hand fascia is a thin sheath of fibrous tissue enclosing muscles, tendons and neurovascular bundles. An uninterrupted three-dimensional collagen matrix gives a framework for longitudinal structures as well as an attachment to skin. Fascia is characterized by its location, density, fibre direction and fascia’s relationship to other structures. The superficial fascia of the hand continues from the dorsum of the hand to the palmar side of the hand. The superficial fascia of the digits is cylindrical being thicker in the lateral side of the fingers.
The skin that covers the dorsum of the hand is greatly different from the skin that covers the palm. The skin of the dorsum of the hand is thin and pliable. It is attached to the hand's skeleton only by loose areolar tissue, where lymphatics and veins course. This fact explains why edema of the hand is manifested predominantly at the dorsum. In addition, this loose attachment of skin makes the dorsum of the hand more vulnerable to skin avulsion injuries and also permits the creation of local flaps.
The skin of the palmar surface of the hand is unique, with characteristics for special function. The palmar skin is thick and glabrous and not as pliable as the dorsal skin. It is strongly attached to the underlying fascia by numerous vertical fibers. These features enhance skin stability for proper grasping function.
If you or a loved one are experiencing these conditions, go to the emergency room immediately to prevent any further complications. Stay safe and stay healthy everyone! 🤓

Thanks so much for those of you who have already donated to help Janie. She's much closer to her goal but still has a ways to go. If you would like to help just go to her page and click the link in her bio. Repost from @singapore.jones using @RepostRegramApp - EDIT: If you would prefer to donate via PayPal, just DM me for my email (I think IG deletes them on posts). If I manage to get other aid this week or later this month I will refund any donations!
Hi, I'm Janie, and I have Bipolar II Disorder. This is me on a good day. But my supposed aid for one of my required meds (that has no substitute) has fallen through this month.
SO I am facing ANOTHER upcoming medication cost of $450. No joke. This month, in five days. I was supposed to get aid this month but that has not finalized and is totally up in the air right now. My doctor's office has given me some samples to get through this week and is trying to secure more, but it's tentative at best right now.
I have been on this drug two months and can't afford to go off now, especially with being in intensive outpatient therapy right now. And there is no cheaper drug like it. My current goal is $500 to offset GoFundMe fees. The link to my campaign is in my bio.
If you can make a donation, I will love you forever, especially since December is a horrible time to ask for monetary aid. Reward levels are as follows. Lower-level rewards are also included in higher levels.
Any amount - a handwritten thank you
$25 - an original 5x7 cartoon on theme of your choice using professional tools
$50 - a pack of 20 cards (thank you, your choice of holiday, etc.) with original art, theme of your choice, plus envelopes
$75 and up - all above plus a twelve-month gift certificate to @sjgalacticshop for any amount over $75
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading all this. Link again is in my bio. There are more details there if you need them! See @trollquarters for sample art.

No More Heart Transplants!
Around the world, lists of patients in need of an organ transplant are often longer than the lists of those willing (and able) to donate — in part because some of the most in-demand organs for transplant can only be donated after a person has died. By way of example, recent data from the British Heart Foundation (BHF) showed that the number of patients waiting for a heart transplant in the United Kingdom has grown by 162 percent in the last ten years.
Now, 50 years after the first successful heart transplant, experts believe we may be nearing an era where organ transplantation will no longer be necessary. “I think within ten years we won’t see any more heart transplants, except for people with congenital heart damage, where only a new heart will do,” Stephen Westaby, from the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, told The Telegraph.
Westaby didn’t want to seem ungrateful for all the human lives saved by organ transplants, of course. On the contrary, he said that he’s a “great supporter of cardiac transplantation.” However, recent technological developments in medicine may well offer alternatives that could save more time, money, and lives. “I think the combination of heart pumps and stem cells has the potential to be a good alternative which could help far more people,” Westaby told The Telegraph. #Repost @medical.pictures

Take your diabetes risk test and tell us what you got !! 1. First, we fill out the questionnaire Diabetes risk factors with the patient and look at the results if 5 points and more recommend the patient to do the tests of diabetes and better to recommend HBA1C and accordingly the patient is diagnosed with the observation that patients with A1C 5.7_6.4% have a high incidence, Note that excess obesity increases the risk of diabetes.🚶
2. The advice given to the patient in case of high score is:
Reduce weight as much as possible and the lowest 7% of its weight within six months (this percentage reminds the patient because it is achievable), and the ideal loss of weight is at a rate of 0.5 kg to 1 kg weekly.🏃♀️
- 150 minutes of sports should be exercised during the week and favorite exercises are medium effort which is equivalent to a brisk walk.🏋️🏊♀️🤺🤸♂️🏄⚽️🏀🏈
- Eating: We advise the patient to eat low energy and follow a diet system as we mentioned (and I love more benefit as much as attending the example of diet The plate form to the below link).🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋🍌
The drug that can be used is one of these types of drugs metformin, a-glucosidase inhibitors, orlistat, glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, and thiazolidinediones with the following observations:
1. Metformin is the best medicine for use because it is safe and inexpensive.
2. The use of metformin is preferred, especially in those with a BMI greater than or equal to 35, and in women who have already had gestational diabetes.
3. The use of metformin is accompanied by vitamin B12 deficiency.
4. The use of the drug requires study of risk and benefits.
- We advise the patient to follow the risk factors for heart disease such as fatty foods, obesity, smoking, drinking alcohol and lack of exercise ... because it is more exposed to heart disease.

Argyria results from prolonged contact with or ingestion of silver salts. Argyria is characterized by gray to gray-black staining of the skin and mucous membranes produced by silver deposition. Silver may be deposited in the skin either from industrial exposure or as a result of medications containing silver salts.
The most common cause of argyria is mechanical impregnation of the skin by small silver particles in workers involved in silver mining, silver refining, silverware and metal alloy manufacturing, metallic films on glass and china, electroplating solutions, and photographic processing. Colloidal silver dietary supplements are marketed widely for cancer, AIDS, diabetes mellitus, and herpetic infections. Cases have followed the prolonged use of silver salts for the irrigation of urethral or nasal mucous membranes, in eye drops, wound dressing, and the excessive use of an oral smoking remedy containing silver acetate.
There are very few treatment options that can completely cure the skin disease. Severe cases caused by long term oral intake of silver may be irreversible. The treatment mainly focuses on discontinuing the silver exposure immediately to stop the advancement of the condition. It is often considered to be a cosmetic skin disorder without any serious health problems, although it may not be possible to eliminate the disfiguring blue skin coloration. Sometimes, patients are suggested to use topical hydroquinone ointment which can reduce the discoloration.
Doctors also suggest the use of sunscreens to minimize the risk of discoloration spreading to other parts of the skin. Wearing cover-up makeup can help affected individuals with very pronounced blue-skin coloration.
Research is being carried out to determine whether laser treatment can be useful for curing the skin discoloration. According to medical reports, colloidal silver ingestion induced Argyria has been treated successfully by using laser surgery. #instalike#instaquotes#doctor#success#medicine#medical#health#medschool#medstudent#healthcare#article#nurse#futuredoctor#family#pharmacist#wellness#prevention#treatment#university#nursestudent#doctors#MyMobileDoc
