We women are being called back to our wombs to reclaim this space as a means of stepping into our power and creating true authentic sisterhood. Through connecting to our wombs we are mending a connection to the feminine through alliances and bonds rather than enemies and gossip. We need to reclaim this space within ourselves so we can learn to honour and respect where we come from and learn who we truly are. Once we do this we learn how to love ourselves unshakeably, we learn how to honour our bodies and revere them, we start owning who we are, we remember how connected we are through our womb … through blood … through the cycles of the moon … through the water, and through the earth 🌏
This magic in between your legs can start to be channeled by these three things.

Can we control PMS breakouts or mitigate them?
We all have experienced it at one point, but nobody talks about how to get rid of it.🤷🏽♀️
For those of you suffering from hormonal acne, treatment can be pretty frustrating. This is because the resulting acne can be caused by a number of different factors making it difficult to pinpoint which underlying cause is responsible.
💡 But what do we recommend? 🌿 Our fav herbs for balancing hormones: Ashwagandha •Licorice Root • Schizandra Berry (great for stress as too)• Maca• Vitex Berry• Red Clover • Dong Quai
✨ A face mist that you can keep in your bag and splash it often to help you kill the day-to-day bacteria.
Such as our Lluvia Drops which has cinnamon to help keep the bacteria from your dirty fingers under control. ➕ a blend of herbs and flowers to calm the skin while helping you stay #fresh and #stressfree due to its aromatherapy benefits.

Caffeine has multiple health benefits, from its antioxidant properties to its nootropic & protective affects. But the current advise to women as it relates to reproductive & menstrual function is somewhat confused. Is it a case of “the dose makes the poison” or should women limit or avoid caffeine altogether, as is recommended by some fertility experts.
This study was the result of analysis of data collected as part of The Biocycle Study- a comprehensive (long overdue) assessment of menstrual cycle function.
* 259 female participants aged 18-44, were followed for 2 menstrual cycles. .
* Participants: 👯♀️No history of chronic disease, endocrine dysfunction (i.e. T1/2DM) or menstrual dysfunction (i.e. PCOS).
👩🏾Normal weight, not using hormonal contraceptives, menstruating regularly each month for at least 6 months prior to the study. .
📝A 24hr dietary recall was taken after collection of fasting blood samples for at least 4 cycle visits corresponding to menstruation). 8 cyclical fasting blood samples were collected per participant. .
☕️ The dietary recall included an assessment of daily caffeine intake.
👩🏽🔬Total estradiol, progesterone, Luteinising Hormone, Follicle Stimulating Hormone, and Sex Hormone Binding Globulin were measured.
. 🌡Fertility monitors were used to align the participants’ cycles so that despite their cycle lengths, hormone concentrations could be compared across women at various cycle phases.
📊The results were interesting, and unexpected. .
📈The highest serum caffeine group was associated with lower total testosterone & free testosterone compared to the group with the lowest serum caffeine, after adjustments were made for age, race, % body fat, exercise, perceived stress, depression, diet & alcohol intake. Furthermore, the group with the highest serum caffeine levels were associated with a reduced risk of anovulation. .
🤔What does this suggest? Well, caffeine may be associated with reduced testosterone & improved menstrual function.
☝🏻 This finding has been supported by previous research, which is positive. .
⁉️Some caveats & unanswered questions:
👩🏾👩🏼 there are racial & genetic differences in how ...
✔♀️If we allow ourselves to be quiet and internalized during our period we may get filled with vision and ideas, and later on, closer to ovulation time – bring these things forth. On the contrary if we are unhappy, and restless during our period – that’s what we put out in life. You could even consciously ask: “Moon, show me what I need to see, then I will put it into action”. It’s very powerful to perform a ritual during menstruation.
✔♀️You may have heard people say: “women are dirty during their menses, that’s why they have to retreat,” – and that’s a bunch of foolishness. Women knew that to serve in the best way they needed to be quiet during the powerful time of menstruation. We shouldn’t be working and cooking, not because our energy is bad, but because by not taking time off we are taking something away from ourselves and thus – our people. If we rest and internalize during this time we can bring back something powerful.
✔♀️In tribes women were asked to report their dreams during their moon time to medicine people, because it was considered that women have increased psycic abilities during this time.
✔♀️Please understand that there is absolutely nothing dirty about your menstrual blood. Actually it is full of nutrients and power! If you experience a bad odor from your blood – this is perhaps because it has been in contact with air for too long or it has mixed with the chemicals contained in commercial pads or tampons.
✔♀️Consciously embracing our menstruation asks us to break some taboos in our culture. There are unspoken rules that we must not rest or take our time, especially to know and care for ourselves. There is also an unspoken rule that we must not acknowledge the abundance in our lives. Instead we are conditioned to see lack and insufficiency around us, which causes us to rush about constantly seeking more. As we break these taboos by resting deeply and acknowledging our inner abundance, we gradually come to a still point within; a luminous presence.
Female chickens produce eggs... Female humans do to.. in both species, the unfertilized eggs are lost during a menstrual cycle (a period).. so when or if you eat a chicken egg you’re literally eating a chickens menstrual cycle 🤷🏾♂️ according to the World Health Organization and many other sources eggs are a great contributor/linked to diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease and more. Anything “beneficial” you can get from eggs, you can get 2-10x more by eating the right greens/veggies/beans.. not to mention what happens to the male chickens who obviously cant reproduce and don’t grow fast enough to be sold for meat.. they for real get put in a grinder and get killed.. some are used for the filling of nuggets and stuff but most go to waste..this happens all day everyday.... stop eating periods and stop condoning what the meat industry is doing to you food.. they poisoning us

Every girl's first period story!😂❤
I was lying on my bed...
I saw.. ugh what's that?
It looks red and smells bad..
Remembering the workshop classes..
Got to know, period life is all set.
Going to the washroom in search of a pad.. end up finding a cloth wrap.
Shouting mom..mom.. i need a pad...
Shut up and take that😂
So much confused what was happening in my stomach.. Not the butterflies were hitting but the rats.
Got confused between giggle and hitting..
Took a medicine for that..
So much nonsense i made..
But it was my innocence that date..
Thinking about periods all the time..
Dad told me go and refresh up, its party time..
I thought my first period party was that..
But end up knowing dinner date was that.
Knowing my first period story..
My friends laughed and my father hugged...
I thought, discussing it with my friends is not the right time..
Going to my mum sharing all talks all night..
Go and sleep it's too late this time.
Next morning woke up with a smile..
Ohh god these periods are ruining my life.
Knowing more about period stories ..
Got confident and brave since that time.. Now i welcome my periods..
With a huge smile..💪❤

+ i started my menstrual early this morning . NO BLOATING AND NO CRAMPS . this is the first time for me + i’m so excited about this . i immediately googled the effects of avocado cuz that’s the only thing about my diet that has changed . i came to find out they are high in magnesium & potassium which are supplements we are usually deficient in . research shows that the prostaglandins influenced by our estrogen levels are responsible for menstrual cramps. The plant sterols in avocados have an effect on hormones, especially estrogen and progesterone, which are both responsible for regulating ovulation and menstrual cycles. Avocados do not contain these hormones, but they tend to block estrogen absorption and promote progesterone production in women. progesterone deficiency in women is linked to the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome or PMS. Avocados are considered an antiestrogenic food, which means they contain plant sterols that block estrogen receptors on cells and reduce estrogen absorption in your body, As a consequence of blocking estrogen, progesterone levels in women and testosterone levels in men are both increased. Avocados do not contain progesterone, but they have an ability to alter progesterone levels in your body, which is why they are often used in products for PMS and menopausal symptoms . i am a stan for eating a more plant based diet 🥑🌱

There’s a few things you need to know...
Your scale weight will fluctuate across the month but at certain times you will have a spike in weight and tape measurements, particularly around waist.
When assessing, look at weeks to months. So week 4 month 1 gets compared to week 4 month 2 etc. If you plotted your scale weight on a graph across the month it would be a series of peaks and dips 📉
With regards to training, your first two weeks in the gym should be your most productive. Don’t be expecting any PB’s towards the end of your cycle 👊🏻
You can also expect to have increased cravings at the end of your luteal phase. If you are focused on fat loss, you can increase calories to maintenance for 3-5 days depending on your desire to satisfy the cravings. Certainly factor in some chocolate into your days 🍫

✔The womb is a physical metaphor for consciousness itself, the void, the place of nothingness, from which all life emerges, the emptiness which is actually the fullness of all life. A place of pure potential, formless, yet the essence of all forms.
✔Menstruation, that monthly bleeding that all women share, unites us no matter what else sets us apart. At any one time on this planet, millions of women are bleeding.
✔Conscious menstruation refers to the profound awakening that is possible when we embrace our monthly bleeding with deep awareness and self-love.
✔It’s interesting that many women have their menstruation either around the full Moon or new Moon. Menstruation is also called “moontime” in some ancient cultures. There is a great connectedness to the natural cycles in nature and we are all synced in.
✔Just as the Moon waxes (or grows outward into the night sky) until it becomes full and then wanes (or gets smaller) as if moving back into itself – so do we. Sometimes she shows up fully, open, bright, reaching out. Other times – she covers her face, retreats, falls back, quiets herself. We can be in the same pattern as the Moon. I find it really beautiful.
✔The moon is the most feminine planet. It is changeable in the same way as us – ever changing women. So what happens during the New Moon is exactly what happens with us when we bleed – we hide and internalize. And Full Moon corresponds to the time of ovulation – the time when we are at the peak of ourselves, feeling energetic and social. As the Moon uncovers her face we uncover ours. We get more and more active, putting things into action.

Rolling with the punches today. My period has finally come after almost a week of intermittent cramps.
Your period can be a reflection of the month that's been, and for me it's been enormously stressful, transformative, eye opening and bittersweet. So it's no surprise to me that this cycle as i bleed, the blood moves indelicatley, angrily and with difficulty, the same way ive moved through the month. If i had been better with the self care, this may not be so intense now, but i know how important it is to be gentle with myself, and just let what is, to be.
I was supposed to be packing and cleaning my house before i move this week, but i have had to stop and rest instead, calling it a day a couple of hours in. This phase of the cycle demands you stop and look at what it is. I couldve taken some naprogesic and pushed through and been super productive, but i wouldve paid for it next month, and lost the valuable whisperings that can be found in this flowing, hermetic part of my cycle. Pain, catharsis, clarity, clearing, uncomfortable. And so important to be fully witnessed and embodied when we can. x

Menstruation is known as the inner winter. It is a time to rest and reflect. Gathering up the energy for the cycle ahead. .
So many advertisements tell us that with their product we can do anything while we bleed! We can play sports and wear white and be superwoman. That is a disservice to our bodies. That is us stuck to live in the patriarchal society that tells us we always need to be "on". .
Our bodies were made to be cyclical. We experience hormone fluctuation throughout the cycle giving us more or less energy. And being "on" actually means following those patterns of our cyclical body. Have you ever wondered why you just want to stay home and lie down while you are bleeding? Do you listen to what your body tells you? .
Here at Shomota we're not going to tell you that our pads turn you into superwoman so that you can run a marathon on your period. No, we're going to invite you to be superwoman and find what rest means for you during your bleed. And whatever ways your find to rest, wouldn't it be better with a soft cotton cloth pad?
How do you rest during your bleed? .

The final post for ways I support my menstrual cycle: yoga & gentle movement.
These are four poses I turn to when I have that heavy feeling and need relief. .
I do my best to tune into my body when I’m bleeding to know what it needs: rest, Netflix, tea & a book, girlfriends, alone time, or family time. Notice I said “try,” life still happens and often calls upon me to do the things. So this gentle set of poses can also help me quiet my frustrations when I don’t want to adult.
All of these poses are supported and restorative. If you’re new to yoga this is a great entry point as well. Always listen to your body and honor where you’re at in terms of your flexibility & strength.
Be sure to move slowly, deliberately, and with your breath.
1. Wide child’s pose with a blanket running along the torso for support. There are multiple variations of child’s pose so do what feels best. .
2. Supported bound angle on a block and with knees supported by blankets (can also use blocks or pillows). Spine long, chest lifted.
3. Reclined twist with a blanket under the knee. I find this to help “wring out” tension in my back. Be sure to do both sides. .
4. Forward fold seated on a block and with a blanket between the upper body and legs. Just melt into this.
P.S. Anchor, Align, or Balance are great essential oil blends to pair with this practice. .
Do you have an favorite yoga poses or stretches that feel good in your body during your period?🧘♀️ .
Ok girl, we bouts to talk blood. I‘m talmbout period blood. If you have a weak stomach I’ll give you time to exit this post now...........................................................................................................Because my uterus was literally covered in fibroids- some up to 9 cm in size- my cycles were heavy and loooong! They would last up to 10 days. After my miscarriage, I would bleed for up to two weeks. I always loved the idea of wearing natural pads, or a Diva Cup, but this flow was not cute enough for that, ok? I needed extra heavy, from-the-belly-button-to-the-top- of-the-butt-crack, extra long, gel core, pull-the-moisture-from-the-surface, industrial strength type of pads. God forbid I had to sit down for long periods of time, or laugh, or sneeze. My uterus’ cup over floweth 😫. My period would seem to end on day 6 and then come back with a vengeance on day 7- and bleed for about 3–4 more days before trickling off by days 10-12. Since steaming, I still bleed for about 8-9 days. However, my flow is not full of clots or heavy. The bleeding trickles off around days 4-5 and the rest of the time it’s just spotting for the other 3 or so days. My period is not perfect yet, but it is a far cry from what it used to be, and that means progress has been made. I can finally consider using something like the Diva Cup or those natural cotton pads. I’ll twerk for that! #womban#menstrualblood#menstrualcycle#yonisteam#yonihealing#reproductivehealth#herbs#womenshealth#wombhealth
Introducing :: POTENT OVULATION for your Ovulation Phase.
This organic gem increases progesterone creation and is rich in essential minerals. Ovulating keeps us potent ladies——— no need to have babes——— it’s simply good for our endocrine health to be ovulating every cycle—— not to mention it keeps us young. Use that potency to create and build your passionate work, use it to pro-create some fierce feminist babes- this tea is good for it all.
Not so long ago I worked with a company that is a leader in “feminine hygiene” products and I remember well that one conversation I had with a male who was responsible for selling these products to the great big box retailer. Corporate market “research” kept coming back with feedback from users who seemed to make them think it was soooo embarrassing to have a period and any all hints that women were having this normal natural flow every single month for 40+ years of their lives had to be completely hidden. Hence, the white and blue and clinically antiseptic packaging designs with few clues of what was inside the boxes.
Then one day, a competitor launched a new package design that seemed to shock everyone. The competitor dared to place bright red graphically beautiful flowers on white boxes, making no attempt to hide the symbolism. As a lover of great package design, I loved it! And as a woman and product user, I loved it!! But everyone else seemed to be mortified, like they had to avert their eyes in fear of... oh I have no idea what they feared. I mentioned to my colleague, this is is great! “The marketing of this product should not be in terms of shame and hide, but in terms of so what, and product performance. And make the packaging cool! Not like something you resent, but something with respect.” Needless to say, my male colleague disagreed and explained why I was wrong. He cited market research (likely past expiration date) and dismissed my observations that future users are much more confident and active than older traditional users.
Eventually, thankfully, a few initial mixed review attempts to make changes did happen (Who remembers the “Have a happy period” slogan?) Now it is common to see pads and liners and tampons in fun colorful wrappers, and packaging has been improving for many years since they finally put a clear “window” in the box so you could see the product (size, thickness..) and to top it all off, product performance has improved significantly in the last 10-15 years. Yay for very thin absorbent flexible foam! #femininehygiene @proctergamble #kotex#menstrualcycle#notgonnacrywhenifinallyentermenopausethough
It's both beautiful and courageous to put ideas into action and just start doing. It's ok to start with doubt. Start even with hands shaking, with voice trembling but start. We can all start where we are, with what we have. ❤️Happy Weekend, loves.❤️
How the menstrual cycle can affect training and what can we do to help!
I know what you’re thinking this is a bloke writing this! What the f*ck does he know right!
Fair comment but stick with it you may find something of use here.
Since I’ve begun coaching ladies I’ve come across a number of different challenges but the one that kept cropping up was “I can’t train today I’m on my period” “I’ve got period pain, I can’t do XXX exercise because it’s that time of the month”. And as the pig ignorant male I can be. I wrote it off as lazy excuses.
That was until I began training some ladies for powerlifting and I was finding that every other training cycle a few of my girls were getting nowhere near their weights, the ladies are more determined, focussed and motivated than many top athletes I’ve been around, so I decided to do a little research to see how I could help.
What I learned was that there are 3 phases to the menstrual cycle:
The follicular phase begins on the first day of menstruation (bleeding) and lasts till approximately the 14th day where ovulation begins.
So what are the issue for training in this phase and what can we do to help.
During this phase common symptoms are cramping, fatigue, mood swings and headaches – this is down to the uterus contracting and a fluctuation in hormones particularly a drop in oestrogen which will reduce serotonin (the happy hormone) resulting in possible headaches and tiredness. Also during this time you will be losing fluids. This can cause deficiencies in some minerals such as iron and magnesium. What can we do to help at during this phase is to keep ourselves hydrated, eat nutrient rich food especially ones high in iron and magnesium (red meat, Spinach and other green leafy vegetables, nuts and dark Chocolate). Also add in some vitamin B which will help with fatigue.
Don’t beat yourself up if training isn’t optimal during this time, planning your deload or lighter weeks here would be best.
