$10,000 Donations to Five Amazing LGBTQ2 Organizations
Vancouver, BC - The West-End Slo-pitch Association (WESA), a not-for-profit volunteer community-based softball and social organization going into it’s 40th Season in 2018, proudly announces a total donation of $10,000 raised during our 2017 Season, to be divided equally between five worthy and amazing local LGBTQ2 charitable organizations:
Health Initiative for Men: involves and engages gay men to improve foundations of their physical, sexual, social and mental health through research-based community-minded, volunteer-driven activities;
LOUD Foundation Scholarships: investing in the future leaders of the Canadia LGBTQ2 community by supporting the development of students who posses drive, vision, compassion, and knowledge;
PFLAG Vancouver: working to create an environment of understanding so our gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender children can live with dignity and respect;
QMUNITY: improving queer, trans, and Two-Spirited lives through support services, connection and leadership;
UBC CampOUT: a social justice summer camp for queer, trans, Two-Spirited, and allied youth from British Columbia and the Yukon.
Of WESA’s philanthropic endeavours, WESA League Commissioner Darcy Simpson says, “Each of these organizations, like WESA, share a common goal of enhancing the LGBTQ2 community by building fellowship and goodwill. WESA is proud to donate to these organizations, who join the over 30 community organizations and charities that WESA has made donations to — of almost $100,000 — over the past 30 years.”
About WESA: Founded in 1978 with just four teams of gay and lesbian sports-minded, fun-loving people who came together to play softball, WESA has grown to support 18 league teams with a diverse adult membership numbering over 260. In addition to coordinating fun softball play, WESA operates with three main objectives:
Foster the bonds of community fellowship;
Develop and promote true sportsmanship; and
Raise funds for local community LGBTQ2 organizations.
Softball is our sport, and community building is our social aim.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had some decent Fish Tacos! Fish 101 catches and serves them fresh from the ocean, every day! Pretty damn incredible! Thanks Derek for showing me this place! @derektheadventure
Lemons are great for more than just lemonade. Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent, which is why it can be used for those hard-to-remove yellow stains on white clothing and linens. Simply slice a lemon in half, rub the stain with it, and air dry in the sun.
