🌴Beach Travel Advice
Before I moved out of the Midwest I had never seen the ocean up close except from a plane. So imagine, at 24, me finally stepping into the bright blue abyss here in South Florida. Not gonna lie, it was terrifying. I wasn’t a fan of fish bumping into me, seaweed snaking around my ankles and especially my terrible encounters with jellyfish. They don’t always sting but when they do, they sting me. 😝
After five years of beach access so close you can smell it, here are a couple pro tips for your next beach vacation on the coast!
1. Always, always, always bring sunscreen and apply that shit liberally to avoid being a lobster at your dinner on South Beach later that night.
2. Respect the people around you. It’s a growing trend on South Florida beaches to bring the whole kit and caboodle to your beach day...including that boom box stereo you got in the 90s. By all means, enjoy your BBQ under your massive tent with music but be considerate of those around you who came here to relax, not to the feel need for salsa dancing and tequila shots at 11am. We save that for 11pm.
3. Throw away your trash in designated spots, not the sand. I can’t tell you how many times I see people literally let stuff blow away into the ocean without a care in the world. Don’t attribute to an already sick ocean and plastic beach by adding your trash to it.
I hope this has helped you in some way. If you didn’t know already, now you know! Love and advice from a compassionate local ❤️ #beaches#Miamibeach#traveltips
