molded Fiberglass front panels, a hard shell snowboard carrier, and the new silicone needs to cure around the front glass, then this thing will be so cozy/ functional without any wasted space... plus she looks so smooth. #roadliving#custom#microcamper
More van spam but a couple of asda bed throws make ace door panel covers. Also the insulation is amazing - dead quiet at 65 and can sit in here with a t-shirt on while it's 0C outside! #vwcaddy#caddyvan#camper#microcamper#caddy#vw
Got, ironically, frozen today fitting the insulation to the van but it's done. Sound deadening followed by loft insulation and double bubble foil, then real classy oak lino on the floor. Fungus is waaaaaaay quieter and evidently warmer. Very happy with how its turned out! #vwcaddy#caddyvan#camper#caddy#microcamper#campervan
I've made the bed box in my berlingo myself. Its not really a thing a beauty but it works and I can store it into a little sofa that sits in the back or as it is now so I just have to slide the top down to make a full length bed. I love this space and am hankering to get out and about adventuring again. #berlingocamper#berlingo#microcamper

One of the things in my eBay basket before I'd even picked the pimpmobile up was this beautiful reflective film for the windows. You can't have it on the front three but I think that gold goes wonderfully with the blue and adds to the whole ridiculous look I've got going 😁
If it's lighter outside the van you can barely see in at all, but that also goes visa versa if it's dark out and you have lights on inside, which can be a bit unnerving if you have an overactive imagination like me! Hopefully though the reflections should help towards keeping the sun out on hot days.
It was surprisingly easy to apply - slightly soapy water in a spray bottle, a Stanley knife, and the squeedie bit from my ice scraper worked a charm. I've got wrinkles and bubbles all over, especially the back window where I peeled off and reapplied the next day. If you've got a bit more patience and a couple of extra hands to help, I think that would be easily avoided.
There were a number of reasons why I didn't fancy using the carpet that everyone uses (*ahem* grey? blueish grey? BOOOORING) Being completely unskilled and very poor though, it took me a while to find a fabric to use. I knew I would need something stretchy for all those lovely corners and curvey wheel arches, so I bought a bunch of tester materials that might work. I tried to stay away from the velvet, I really did, but there was just no denying that it was the easiest and most fabulous option there was! And thus, the Pimp Mobile was born. I do not regret my decision one bit.
Note: the material on my ceiling here is very pretty and quite cheap, plasticy table cloth stuff that sounds really practical but DOES NOT react well with glue! Its uh... consistency? totally changes and my ceiling is now full of wrinkles. Oh well.
The obligatory space age looking insides. There are so many cans of spray adhesive in the walls of this thing. I used cheap foam underlay stuff (£7.99 from The Range, £20 from B&Q - really?!!) followed by your standard foil backed bubble wrap (20m roll from eBay). The foil stuff isn't really insulatey itself but will hopefully reflect heat back into the van. Stick it on eeeeeeeeverything.
Day 1 - 2nd December 2017
Alarm set for 4:10am, and a 999 call on the way to the train station because of an abandoned crashed van in the road made for an interesting start! Made a stop at B&Q for insulation materials ready for action on day 2. 16 hours and 9 different vehicles later I finally got the Pimp-Mobile-to-be to its new home in North Wales!
Did some quick designs for the bed box. This will fit behind the rear seats and over the drivers wheel arch with storage inside. With the seats out the lid can fold out twice with some supporting legs to become full length. I may add something to extend the bed out if it's too narrow. #vwcaddy#caddyvan#camper#microcamper#caddy#vw#volkswagen
