Just laying here in the hospital, anxiously awaiting my turn in line for my csection this morning. Patience is not a natural trait for me, so of course the universe has put me second in line and here I wait 🙂

Each pregnancy is a blessing and I’m so thankful that I’ve had two go so smoothly (my labours are another story!) and I’m doing everything I can to savour my last hour carrying a human—i have found it such a bittersweet experience—limitations, uncomfortable and undignified things coupled with the sweet connection you develop with this little human growing inside you. Always sounds stupid to say this out loud, but to this day it amazes me that for every human you see in the world, a woman had to carry and grow them for 40 weeks and then go through labour. Literally blows my mind. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

"Everything was wrong. Life wasn't meant to be like this, I had an elaborate plan. Become a Doctor, find love, have kids, the white picket fence all that jazz. But no, here I was, shattered body, bleeding from the inside out, hadn't slept in weeks. My once sharpened mind only contemplating one thought and it wasn't good. My emotions piling up inside me pushing me further and further into a place that scared the shit out of me but felt like home. At the end of the road there were 2 options. Stay or Go. I chose to stay. 
I took my thirst for knowledge and dense comprehension of our neurology to begin learning how to get my mind back. Who cares about the body when your thoughts eat you alive at night. 3 weeks later not only was my body healing itself, bones and all. Leaving 4 fellow Doctors in Awe. But I was not waking up at 5 a.m Happy as I'd ever been. I stumbled on an incredible practice that could sculpt my mind, regenerate cells, activate the natural genetic code to heal my body and all the while completing my Degree and living again. >>>> DM for more details!

Sunday’s are for S W E A T + S O U L. I am feeling so good after an incredibly productive weekend. Finally went though our closet (!!!) and donated 8 bags of goods (not to mention the two bags that I’m bringing to my coworkers tomorrow who always request anything athleisure). I *know* that having a clean, clutter-free home leads to a clutter-free mind, but finding the motivation to clean was always difficult. Feeling even more thankful + ready to own the week after such a fun event today with @pacificabeauty + @soulcycle.

Still on a high from yesterday’s Pilates class at @flexstudiosnyc , sponsored by @getondibs !  This event encapsulated all the reasons why I fell in love with fitness.  Working out with old friends as we encouraged each other to hang in there during a tough interval and to find the energy for that one last push.  Bonding with new friends who motivate me to up my game as an athlete.  Together we made it through a challenging, but rewarding workout courtesy of @juliettewalle .  A huge thank you to @getondibs for the opportunity to host this event (check out their site for great deals on classes at some of the best studios in NYC!) and to Flex for having us.

For me, “meal prepping” is just making what I can with what I’ve got. Roasting a whole bunch of veggies or making a big pot of quinoa at a time so I always have things to mix together however I so feel. This Sunday salad bowl is filled with mixed greens and my avo-lemon dressing, roasted sweet potato, pan sautéed zucchini and sprouts, and some pan seared salmon 🥗 😋 hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! .

For me, “meal prepping” is just making what I can with what I’ve got. Roasting a whole bunch of veggies or making a big pot of quinoa at a time so I always have things to mix together however I so feel. I've always kind of rolled my eyes when people talked about accepting and loving your body wherever it's at. I secretly thought that was an excuse for not putting in the work to achieve the results you want. 
But I'm beginning to see that I can love my body, AND I can work on improving it, and those don't have to be mutually exclusive things. I can thank my weak core for carrying my gigantic babies. I can be so so grateful for the opportunity to be a mom. AND I can work on improving my body because I love it and deserve to feel comfortable in my skin.

We HAVE to stop loving our bodies EXCEPT FOR the one part that looks yucky. (Guilty). I am so thankful to have this tool, this superfood, that isn’t about dieting, calorie restriction, or eliminating food groups. It’s meant to nourish the body on a cellular level, and that’s what I’m about. Filling up on the good stuff. Loving my body enough to take care of it. Valuing myself enough as a human being to invest in my health.

With busy days and long and stressful events in our life, it’s easy to get to the middle of the afternoon and find ourselves in state of exhaustion.
Usually when this happens we reach for something less than ideal to try and pep ourselves up again (Yes, I’m talking about those hidden chocolate bars and snacks in your top drawer!)

Did you know that stretching or even doing a quick couple of yoga poses helps to reset your day and wake up again?
The next time you feel an afternoon slump coming on, simply get up, start a few stretches or yoga poses for 5 minutes and see how you feel afterwards.

Messy Recipe LIVE! // twice baked potato loaded with pork carnitas / oh, and #whole30approved ✨🙌🏽 / the deets 👉🏽👉🏽 potato: bake the whole potato in the oven for around an hour at 375 (or until soft), cut in half and remove insides. Add coconut cream, chicken stock, garlic, ghee, salt and pepper & mash it allllll up. 👉🏽carnitas: 4lbs of pork shoulder salt and pepper, sear first, then add cinnamon and chili power and braise for 3 hours at 350 until tender 👉🏽 we added everything back together, put back in the oven for about 10 minutes then topped with green onions and cilantro🙌🏽

What makes you feel free? For me, I love anything new. I love new travels, meeting and connecting with new people, experiencing new things, seeing new places, eating new foods, and feeling my mind grow with all the new things I learn each day.

Whether it’s creating a freelance business or allowing more time to incorporate some wellness and beauty rituals, it makes me so happy to witness others living a life they designed for themselves! 💫❄️

So inspired by all the pics on Instagram of fierce women coming together to make waves this weekend at marches around the country. It got me thinking about my amazing high school english teacher who made sure we all knew what a feminist was—someone who believes in political, economic, and social equality for the sexes—and what a feminist wasn't—someone who hates men/anyone who identifies as male. A handful of students at my high school criticized this teacher behind her back for her strong views and annual lecture on why we all need to be feminists. I loved her for it. ⠀

May we keep the momentum of this movement going strong throughout 2018 and make sure we're being inclusive of all women everywhere. Let's show up and support each other in ways big and small—even when it's hard. Even when it makes other people uncomfortable. 💕⠀
