It's been an interesting day on the mental health front. It's looking more and more like I am indeed #bipolar like my Dr suggested, but didn't want to confirm without a psychiatrist. I've decided to be proactive with my health; I may not be able to change how my brain works, but I CAN change what goes into my body! I've done the #whole30 before, and remained #paleo for over a year, but I've slipped recently. Lilly Singh was born in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada to a Punjabi family by origin. She is a bachelor’s degree holder in Psychology from York University. Since she was struggling with #depression, she sorted out a way, to #vent her feelings and that was through YouTube.

When you decide to fight against your #weaknesses instead of being torn down by them, that is the spirit which calls for a celebration.

"I didn't have goals. I didn't feel like eating. I was upset for absolutely no reason," Singh says "I told myself, 'You have a choice: Either continue feeling this way or do something to change your life," says Lilly.
.
"One of the best pieces of advice I can give is, not to #overthink things because when I started I didn't think about a brand, a schedule or how to say or do things," she explained. "I just did it and figured it out. I would tell myself, 'Don't overthink it. Do it because you love to do it and just have fun with it." .
The reason why she decided to make videos for YouTube was that she felt that she was trying to #recover from depression, and probably there were many others in the world, who also wanted to recover from this nasty phase, but required a lead. 
She felt her videos could #motivate people to deal with their hardships with a stronger mind and body, and she thought it right.

“I had won all my awards and appreciation for 2013 and everything had been accomplished. It was a great time. But I woke up one morning, just feeling empty. I woke up feeling directionless. I didn’t know where to go. I didn’t know what to do,” revealed Deepika about her initial symptoms of #depression.

“I kept #crying. I think my mother sort of sensed that something was wrong. She asked me if it had something to do with my personal life. Is it your work? Has someone said something to you? And it was none of these reasons”.

“I realized that something was wrong, I realized I was being different, I couldn’t pinpoint what the #issue was. It happened in different stages but I think my resistance was towards medication and it was my parents who said when you have a headache or when you have a fever you take a medicine so don’t think twice”.

#Counseling and #medications are a part of the solution, it is also the willingness to make a sincere effort to understand oneself and then work with a #professional to deal with the issues methodically.

She said, “Realise that you are not alone, that we are in this together and most importantly that there is hope”.

So it seems that today is Mental Health Awareness day. 
This is a subject I hold very close. 
When I suffered a really bad injury I fell into a depression. This resulted in me drinking far to much and I wondered why things never worked out and felt that there was no way out and this was as much as life has to offer. 
The one thing that was always fairly consistent and had become the leading passion in my life was exercise. I firmly believe it was just that, every time I took a slump or got down it got me through the other side. 
Exercise is my coping mechanism. For someone else it might be something different. One thing I did learn was that I had to take control, take responsibility and hold myself accountable for anything that was going wrong, but there's always a light if you choose to find it. 
Folks your health is always the most important, without it everything else is irrelevant . 
Take home message....... look after your head, and go easy on grandpas old cough medicine.

So please make today the day you call that friend you've been worrying about lately or to thank those who kept you on whatever bandwagon you needed. But most importantly please make today the day to pause and check in on yourself.
