I've been circling the tiki rabbit hole for a little while now, and I've decided to dive in with some homemade falernum. It's a clovey almondy limey syrup found in lots of tiki drinks.
I'm following the recipe on http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012/02/homemade-falernum-for-tiki-drinks-almond-clove-lime-syrup-recipe.html. Here you can see some flor de cana 4 year rum that has had toasted almonds whole cloves steeping in it for two days. I just zested 8 limes and a teaspoon (slight modification) of ginger to add to the mix for another day.
These are a must for your next entertaining event! They will stand out in your appetizers. Fill each pick with a shrimp 🍤
with a dab of cocktail sauce.
Fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil.
Use with sushi instead of chopsticks. 🍣
