As one would recall the last classic Land Rover Defender was built on January 29, 2016... but someone with home training decided to mod the iconic vehicle. Introducing the new Land Rover Defender Works V8s, available with both the 90 and the 110 chassis, packing 400hp and ZF's 8-speed automatic starting at £150,000 or $207,000. (Chicken change for despite)
As part of their 70th anniversary celebrations, Land Rover is revisiting an old idea, playing homage to the Series III Stage 1 V8 from 1979 and previous Rover V8-powered Defenders such as the 50th Anniversary Edition.Hand-built by Land Rover Classic, the new Works V8s feature a naturally-aspirated powered by the 400 horsepower version of Jaguar's 5.0 V8 connected to the modern automatic. This powertrain makes the short wheelbase version accelerate to 60 in 5.6 seconds, and reach a top speed of 106mph.Although these come with the full Windsor Leather interior, Recaro sport seats, bi-LED headlamps and "Land Rover Classic’s own infotainment system," the company will offer some upgrades for regular Defenders as well, including a tune for the TDCi diesel engine, beefier suspension bits and brake kits.
