When you left me and I forgot the directions to home, I went to see what my heart has become and it was a compass that pointed towards you. I flew in your direction only to find a lock on the door. So, I wait outside for you to come back because some people aren't that easy to let go.
It’s not easy being an individual. In living our daily lives we are forced by our society to play roles. We can be different persons or wear masks. Often the persona is quite different from who and what we are, some of us become quite adept at putting on masks or switching masks.
The goal of individuation is to recover the self that you already are, or were. Because we play so many roles in life, achieving this kind of authenticity may be a life long struggle. It means living out of one’s own Center, making choices out of one’s own wants and needs, making decisions in terms of one’s own true beliefs and values. It means achieving a solid sense of self when all the masks are taken away.
