Is #SocialActivism Destroying #American Judaism?
#Take On #TikunOlam
By Tzvi Freeman and Yaakov Ort
Perhaps you've #heard : The latest studies on American Jewry’s #apathy and even antipathy towards Judaism are in and guess what: It’s worse than you had #imagined , even after #Pew .
A Jewish People #PolicyInstitute study, for example, looks at American non-Hareidi Jewish #adults —the whole #spectrum from #ModernOrthodox to #unaffiliated —between the prime child-raising ages of 25 and 54. Only 21 percent have a child who is being raised as a Jew by #religion . Twenty. One. Percent. (Make that 13% for those under 40.)1
In other words, eight out of ten young Jewish adults—your #Hebrew -schooled, bar and bat mitzvahed, synagogue #youth , #collegeeducated Jewish kids have grown up. And unlike their parents, or any of their other #ancestors going back to #Abraham and #Sarah , they are choosing not to have Jewish children and families of their own.
New episode on aging with Aubrey de Grey from SENS Research Foundation. We talk about the anti aging research, how far we've come, and when we may eliminate the age-old problem of death itself. 'The first person to live to a thousand is alive today'

#Анастасия#Ярская#Мазур#фотография#morality#МойНоябрь#redlips#photo#instagram#photography#selfie#colors#life#badwolf#цвета#sagittarius#person#story#beautiful#anothercolors#lithroom#time#rockwomen#moment#vitally#intelligent#makeup#rock#2016#смысл
Animal rights is not about the treatment of the innumerable nonhuman animals our species exploits. It's about the fact that we've no right to exploit them in the first place. Above all, animal rights is about the individual rights of nonhumans to live their own lives, free from subjugation or exploitation by those who deem themselves superior. It's not about the cruelty of production, but the fact that nobody is a "product" in the first place.⚫
Animal welfare is not only an insult to ethics, but it enforces, promotes, and prolongs the suffering of sentient, feeling individuals. Animal welfare says animals belong to us, that they're our property, and their only right is to be exploited as "gently" as possible. This approach would be comparable to fighting on behalf of larger shacks for slaves, fewer whippings, or any other illusion of kindness designed solely to justify the enslavement that no one deserves.⚫
Animal welfare is animal exploitation. We cannot treat someone well if we're treating them as property. There is no morally acceptable excuse to subjugate, exploit, or enslave anyone- of any race or species. Those who impose their will upon others for greed and selfishness will always try to mask their immoral actions as "the lesser evil," when the simple fact is, there's no good reason or excuse for evil in the first place.⚫
We simply cannot honestly claim to care for those whom we look for excuses to exploit. We cannot claim to care what's right when we desperately seek to justify doing what we know is wrong. We cannot claim to respect life at all when we call the living our property.⚫
We either support and stand for suffering, or we stand against it. We either torture the innocent, or we refuse to. We cannot simultaneously demand exploitation and claim we don't agree with it. Anything short of veganism is violence.⚫

Been a little exhausted lately, so much has been going on. Navigating life seems like many twists and turns and I mean by perception. Your emotions and mind can twist you seeing that something is "right" then it proves to be "wrong" then things shift to "right" again. Growing up Christian, from adults I heard the original sin was eating from the tree of knowledge. I thought it was a terrible punishment for people wanting to learn more and I thought god wanted to keep people ignorant. I later looked up the original sin and it was actually "the tree of knowledge of good and evil". This turned my whole perception on its head. The original sin wasn't trying to gain knowledge, it was gaining the choices of morality. So we all are capable of doing good, but we are also capable of doing evil. This shows the duality of man and how it explains why bad things happen to people. People always shortened it to "the tree of knowledge" and that is drastically different from the knowledge of good and evil. This piece is titled "Marked" in relation to how everyone now faces these choices everyday. I don't believe we can control how we feel about things, only how we decide to express those emotions. Whether it is to lash out at others, or try to solve the problem, we all have the choice to do the right thing as well as the wrong thing. The way I see it, as long as it's not life or death, we don't really "have to do" anything. Do you really need to hurt that person because they hurt you? Can there be a peaceful way to acknowledge each other's faults and resolve the conflict with a critical discussion? Why do we feel we gain more by holding onto things instead of sharing them? I don't believe we take anything into the afterlife besides the connections we made with others and the things we learn along the way. We need money to live, but there comes a point where it actually starts to hinder our happiness. We start to look at others as enemies than our fellow human. How much does one person really need to be happy? #paintingoftheday#art#art 🎨 #artist#artwork#artsy#artistsoninstagram#artistic#artlife#arttherapy#portrait#digitalart#digitalpainting#morality#truth#pondering
