Sometimes we get caught up in this grand plan on how our lives are supposed to play out. And one day, it hits you. Your life is on a completely different path. This wasn’t supposed to happen this way...... but it was. It was supposed to happen this way all along. There’s no point in fighting it, rather we must accept the things we cannot change and trust the future ahead of us. When it doesn’t seem like it is going to be okay, know that it will be. This sadness is merely just a moment. Trust yourself. Embrace life’s insane, curvy, confusing, messy, amazing journey. You truly never know where it is going to take you. But it always leads to something beautiful.

We are coming into the hibernation season, when reflection, self-care and that deeper conversation needs a bit more stillness to be heard. 
For our next Why the Hell Not Workshop we were lucky enough to snag Dr. Erin Carner, Naturopathic Physician and Classical Homeopath. She will help guide us into some healthful practices to guide us into a nourishing winter season. There will be food, gentle movement and a myriad of other useful tools/treats that focus around finding more intention, rejuvenation, and feel-good shtuff as we transition seasons. •

I love being able to wake up each morning and greet a wonderful new day. ☀️ My mornings start with a nice warm cup (or two) of my favorite hazelnut coffee, while looking over my schedule, checking emails and journaling my goals and plans. Research shows that how you wake up each day and your morning routine (or lack thereof) dramatically affects your levels of success in every single area of your life.

✨The ability to wake up exactly when we want is the first step towards a meaningful day. If you’re beginning each day on purpose, the first variable under your control is when you wake up. .

✨Once you master that, your first sixty or ninety minutes can be used productively. Your morning routine sets the tone for the rest of your day.  Using it wisely will help you to achieve your goals and accomplish some pretty amazing things. If you win most of your days ...the years will take care of themselves.

Morning rise and shine! Do you have a favourite mug? I am gonna be controversial right now and say I'm not a coffee drinker. I know. If you've managed to stay upright during that sentence, I'll explain. It's too bitter and it tastes yucky, y'all are wrong people. I LOVE @Twinningsteauk green tea though, especially the ginger one at this time of year. Not even an #Ad I just bloody love the stuff they don't have to pay me to say nice things. Amazing. I did find a coffee I liked in Bali and brought back a bag of it for my one a day, it's vanilla and quite sweet which may be why I like it! ⠀

The sound of birds awakening, the glow of the morning sun resting on trees and houses. Take this time for you. Clear your mind and don’t worry. Whether you want it to or not, the day will play out how it plays out. So enjoy this softer moment. Start your day off right.

My little guard and friend .. this morning listening to me cough and sneeze as I get over a cold. .
What a funny and interesting experience to observe a sneeze from its conception and birth, to its final explosion 🤧and how different parts of the body feel on the journey. Lots of building energy and then rapid relief, warmth and cooling, drama and then subtler levels of peace.

These last few days I have given myself full permission to pause from social media, among other things. With my brother back in town visiting from Amsterdam (yea!!) and also, just the overall feeling of a mental boost being in order, I have truly tried to practice what I believe, and listen to my body.

Instead of getting the usual workout in, I went for a mind-clearing walk.
Instead of doing the normal, routine-like things, I have given myself permission to take a break from it all. 
And you know what? I feel so much better. I feel refreshed and calm, and ready to get back into it all.

We all have little signals for when we need a time out. The key is listening and knowing what to look out for. Today’s intention word: Optimism.

I don’t know about you, but when I am in a funk, I am in a funk, and sometimes my funk-like-self wants to stay there. (Can you relate?) It can be frustrating when you know the thing you are upset about is really not worth the time or energy spent thinking about it. Choosing to see the positive in the situation, the marker for joy, or gratitude, gives us an opportunity for an incredible shift. But it’s just that- a choice.

We have to keep bringing ourselves back to choosing joy. So, it's the start of a new week, let's get in tune with what helps us stay positive, stay optimistic, so that when we need a little reboot, we know our go-to's.

What helps you do this best? For me, it’s always thinking about what I am grateful for in the situation. That always helps me veer back to optimism! Your turn!

Feet on the floor, clasped hands, eyes closed. I started my practice this morning in the dark and opened my eyes in the daylight. Using what I know  about science of behavior I have been able to increase the duration of my #techfree #morningmindfulness practice from 10 restless minutes to 15 focused minutes in a matter of days. Today I enjoyed taking note of habitation to car noises but only after dishabituation occurred when the birds started singing over the crickets. Why this picture? Notice the melted wax on the shells. Normally I wouldn't post it because I would see the noise not the beauty. I do this with my kids on the way to school every day so they get out of the car with a calm nervous system and a full heart, ready to face the day with a smile. Try it with your kids and see what a wonderful feeling it creates in the morning. This woman is so damn incredible. She inspires people all around the world to live happier lives without even meeting them. YTT showed me that there was much more to yoga than just #asanapractice, but something about @yoga_girl's podcast really made it sink in. For the past 3 weeks I have practiced every single day and my energy has shifted in such a positive way. Today I started with a little morning #walkingmeditation with my malas from @malaswithlove on my way to get coffee. I assure you I made it to my mat yesterday, but no posting was done! .

What lovely pears...our pear tree has finally produced fruit again. I'm trying to spend a few moments in our small garden in the morning watering the plants and trying to be serene and 'mindful'. It's lovely...but is usually followed by a mad dash around the house looking for keys and lost oyster cards and a 100 metre sprint for the bus. Still trying to find a balance between being mindful....and not being late for everything 😊. Any hints?
