Sadhana means daily spiritual practice. It is the foundation of all spiritual endeavor. Sadhana is your personal, individual spiritual effort. It is the main tool you use to work on yourself to achieve the purpose of life. It can be done alone or in a group. Sadhana is whatever you do consistently to clear your own consciousness so you can relate to the infinity within you. Before you face the world each day, do yourself a favor and tune up your nervous system and attune yourself to your highest inner self. To cover all your bases, it will include exercise, meditation, and prayer. .
During what are called the “ambrosial hours” (the two and a half hours just before sunrise), 🌞🙏🏻when the sun is at a sixty-degree angle to the Earth, the energy you put into your #sadhana gets maximum results. Your world is quieter. It’s easier to meditate and concentrate before the hustle and bustle of the day begins. If you absolutely cannot get up early in the morning to do sadhana, then do it some other time! Doing sadhana at any time of the day or night will benefit you. .
Develop a regular sadhana and you take control of your life. Develop a deep sadhana and you open the doors of experience. Commit to meet your higher Self each morning and your decisions and your life become original; your life will bear the signature of your soul 😇 your radiance will express the meaningful intimacy of the Infinite in each moment. Immerse yourself in the joy of victory that comes from starting each day with a powerful sadhana and every challenge becomes opportunity. .
The mantra from todays class 👉🏼Om Mani Padme Hum - Veet Vichara👈🏼
Here is some of what is said about this mantra. Introduced to me by my beautiful yogasister @yogajonsan
It’s the mantra I used in my meditation throughout this summer. Hope it works wonders for you as it has, and still does, for me 🙏🏼❤️
”Tibetan Buddhists believe that saying the mantra (prayer), Om Mani Padme Hum, out loud or silently to oneself, invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of the embodiment of compassion. Viewing the written form of the mantra is said to have the same effect.
Spinning the written form of the mantra around in a Mani wheel (or prayer wheel) is also believed to give the same benefit as saying the mantra. It is said that all the teachings of the Buddha are contained in this mantra. It is the most widley used mantra of all buddhist, and is open to anyone who feels inspired to practice it, it does not require prior initiation by a lama (meditation master).”
Morning meditation with #missgracie .
I recently read an article refuting the idea of the crazy cat lady.
Apparently the purring of a cat reduces stress and calms the nervous system!
It turns out that the cat lady is less crazy the everyone else... what a relief for this (previously crazy) cat lady.
Meditation is certainly all the more special with this little lady...
Why do we do Morning Sadhana? “When a person gets up in the morning and does the Sadhana, you know what accompanies that person? All the angels, all saints, and sages come to listen. Their souls fly to those places to listen where God is chanted.” - @yogibhajan 👳🏼♀️ The Divine continues to amaze me. I went to bed a little later. And I had set my alarm 🚨 to make sure I awoke for my practice. This is my commitment. My intention is to radiate the Divines light in all I do in my life. The Creator of this AmAzing Universe woke me up before my alarm was set. Right on time. I also did some research on the Kriya I have chosen for my 40 Day Kundalini Teacher practice & this Kriya is no joke. But the rewards are limitless. I am feeling blessed. I will “Keep Up to be Kept Up”
I am LIGHT 💡 .
The original #urbanyogi . Sri Dharma Mittra has been teaching yoga in NYC for over half a century now and has showed many how to embody the universal teachings of Yoga to see the harmony of life, and how we can live our lives in a natural way, indifferent of our circumstance or environment. The city is a beautiful place to enjoy fruits of civilizations and express our creativity. The issues we face is that there are so many options, distractions, and illusions that mislead us to live our Truth. This is why the saying “if you can make it in the big city, you can make it anywhere” applies to Yoga and urban centres can be seen as a guide to our own personal and spiritual development.
Next week we kick off the Urban Yogi Immersion at @thedharmatemple. Always humbled to pass down the Knowledge, practices, and experience of this man. If you’re interested, check the link in my bio. There’s just a couple spots left!
Morning Sadhana is a beautiful way to begin your morning and set the course for your day so that you leave feeling clear, uplifted, and inspired. We begin each morning in the amrit vela at 4:00am with the recitation of Japji, a sacred poem written by the first Guru, Guru Nanak. “Jap means to repeat, and Ji means soul. The repetition of Japji gives you a consistent projection and allows you to access your own infinite source of inspiration and depth.” From 4:25am to 5:30am we practice an hour of Kundalini Yoga, and from 5:30am to 6:30 am we meditate with music and chanting. *Sunday’s begin 40 minutes later, with JapJi starting at 4:40am and yoga starting at 5:00am. There is no cost for Sadhana and you can show up for any portion of it. #amritvela#morningsadhana#japji#kundaliniyoga#sangat#yogaattheashram
I always am thrilled to watch students go deeper into their own practice. The Urban Yogi Immersion is my offering to provide enough knowledge of traditional #dharmayoga practices so they can incorporate an asana, pranayama, mantra, and meditation practice into their own lives outside of regular classes. The 30 day program personal commitment along with the 4 meeting/integration sessions is to provide you an experience of consistant practice to make changes in your life by realigning yourself (physically, mentally, spiritually) through refinements, and re-defining ALL relationships in our life so they may be harmonious.
Seeing the harmony and peace in the city can be challenging, the techniques of yoga are here to provide clear perception, a harmonious physical system for clear perception and will to change the circumstance!

The Urban Yogi Immersion is back this Fall! This is the best way to integrate a home practice, committing to 30 days of practice, while developing the tools/techniques so that you can integrate a personal yoga + meditation practice that will last a lifetime.
I believe in the power of Sadhana so much that I take part in the practices along with everyone, using it as my time to re-align all aspects of myself. Fall is a time of drastic change, and it's an opportunity for us to get clear and present to roll with the times that we're in, instead of getting stuck in our old habits and belief systems. If you're interested, you can find more information at the link in my bio✨👆✨, visiting thedharmatemple.com, or PM me! Space is limited and we're already half full. 🙏
