Dear local residents: it’s 45 degrees out. Turn your sprinklers off. That’s how I got a sinus infection last year during GR. Never mind the shorts, no gloves and no hat. Definitely isn’t going to affect me. 😜
Well 1 of 3 runs done before Sunday. Had to throw on my Des Moines shirt! Des Moines will hold a special place in my heart because it was my first marathon in October 2013. It was so tough and looking back, I can’t believe I did so well off such poor training. Shoutout to those who ran it this past weekend, including my uncle who posted a 3:25:10 for first in his AG. I’m going to have to try to beat that... 😈 Just keeping the competitive family spirit alive!
• I love running in the rain. When you live in the tropics, waiting for perfect conditions is daft. In summer, if you wait for perfect conditions, you'll never get anything done. Soggy 60mins on the trail with with Coach Theo in the jogger • #rainyday#getitdone#noosatri#cantwait
Day 9 of my 21 day challenge and I'm already feeling a difference. It's wild how different programs focus in on different parts of your body. I'm definitely noticing a difference in my upper body right now. My heavy weights aren't as much of a struggle as they were 9 days ago.
Pushing yourself to do more and be more definitely has its payoffs. As they say... it doesn't get easier, you just get stronger!🏋🏻♀️
Take time to make your soul happy. ❤️ Maybe it’s a walk with a friend.
Buying yourself flowers.
Doing a workout.
Going to coffee with a friend.
Do something today that makes you happy.
Happy Tuesday! 😘
Here’s the truth #realtalk ...this journey isn’t all ☀️&🌈& pounds loss & loose pants. It gets hard and sometimes I feel stuck and tired and want to just say screw it and eat a whole 🍕. I screw up sometimes and eat and drink too many carbs 🍺and not enough water💦. I dog it on workouts and don’t give it my all. Then I end up beating myself up for it. It’s stupid to do that, but it happens. So, I am taking the time right now to recognize that I’m in that “stuck” feeling, and to change my thoughts and actions to realize it’s okay and I will get past this. If it was easy, everyone would do it right?! I am not everyone. I can do this.
I was cold and the bed was warm and my baby who isn't a baby anymore was nestled into my chest and the cold air felt like a punch in the gut and my hips are hurting and my brain is mushy and the thoughts we swirling and the excuses were plentiful. But the road was still there and the miles needed to be run. The hardest part about self care, sometimes, is the simple act of one foot in front of the other.
So I ran. Away from flannel sheets and into the cold where I was alone and at peace and the music was too loud to hear my brain even though Halsey amplified the pain and my breaths came jagged and yearned for warmth.
I'm training to beat cancer. You can help.

Morning workout ✅
Feeling amazing that I woke up early to push play and work on balance and core.
I created an awesome 4 week plan for myself and I can't wait to see how I feel at the end. 🔹

Tornado 🌪Tuesday @orangetheory today. 3-4 minute blocks at each station: rowing, treadmill, and weight floor. Just the right combination to keep you challenged. Happy Tuesday friends.
"Trust your training. Run your race."
Throwing it back to 2015 and the @clevemarathon
Love going home to run in the streets but 2015 was a tough one.
My training and nutrition were 👌🏻 and my goal was to finish in 3:45.
I think I trusted my training too much and felt so good I decided that maybe I could go out faster and finish sooner. Bad idea.
It even rained before the race so things got a little more humid and that didn't help. I remember slowing down around mile 14 and that is when things got slower and slower.
I was mad at myself for not sticking with the plan and not trusting the training I put in.
I got greedy. I didn't run my race and I didn't have fun. That was the big lesson for me that I've carried with me in every race since.
So while 2015 in CLE might not have been one of my favorite race experiences: it taught me a few lessons.

I was (shamelessly) taking a post run selfie and Rae asked to show off her tubie too. I fail so many times as a mom. I get frustrated, I'm tired, and mom-ing is exhausting a lot of the time. But this: Rae's strength and positive attitude is something I am so proud of and makes me feel like I'm getting some of this parenting thing right. We've reiterated to her over and over again how strong and smart and beautiful she is and I'm so glad that translates to her being proud and unashamed about her feeding tube. 😍
Workout for the day was a little bit of everything. 3 mile warm up, 15ish minute tempo (2.25 miles) @ 6:45 pace, 3 mins easy, 5 x hill sprints w/recovery jog downhill, and another 2 miles around LT pace @ 6:39 and 6:29 pace and a 2.25 mile cool down (too fast).
Have a great Tuesday, IG. ✌🏼
Woke up feeling FANTASTIC! 🙌🏻 Any aches and pains I had are gone after yesterday's amazing massage (Stephanie I 🙏🏻 down to you!) and my workout/run have me feeling energized and back on track.
You want to know the cure to feeling tired, unhappy and unattractive? SWEAT 💦 Put your body into motion. The act of working out will have you feeling confidant, accomplished, just generally badass and full of energy.
Fuel it, fill it, love it and just wait and see how amazing your body is going to feel 💕
3 gorgeous evening miles yesterday and then came home to this man ❤️ My two favorite stress relievers: running and Jason. He is the calm, patience, and logic to my crazy self. I don’t think he knew what he was getting into when he first started asking me to go out with him last year 😂 I’m the lucky one for sure.
It’s that awkward time of the year when you don’t know whether to wear long or short clothes, or a mixture of both. Hopefully I can figure it out before I freeze any limbs. Happy Tuesday! #MorningMiles#runChattanooga#RunnerProbs
HAPPY TUESDAY FRIENDS! WOKE UP LATE TODAY BUT HAD JUST ENOUGH TIME FOR 2 MILES AND I COULDNT RESIST OUR COLD WEATHER SO I WENT FOR IT! WHEN TEXAS IS COLD YOU TAKE THAT CHANCE BECAUSE WE WARM BACK UP PRETTY QUICK 😂 HAVE A GREAT DAY ☺️✌🏽( photo from trail running last year)
Took a week off after my marathon to relax and eat all of the food New Orleans has to offer. Felt great to get back into it last night! Started out a bit stiff and heavy, but found my groove by the end of my run. Less than two weeks until my next half marathon! Time to taper?! Kidding. Kind of. 😆
Run number two and I’m feeling great! This right hamstring is still tight, but it will work itself out. At least I hope! I need to stretch a bit, but I learned, over the summer, that over stretching is bad too. These legs still have some warming up to do, but I’m getting back there. I’m hoping to get some speed work in this week. Here are some random thoughts for your Tuesday morning. I’m super tired. I haven’t gotten used to this 3:30 wake up call thing yet. I have eaten more cake in the last two days than I’d care to admit. I even fed my kids cake for breakfast just so I’d have less to eat. I haven’t gone to the store in over a week, I’m out veggies, so I made soup to eat all week because I’m avoiding the store. And I fell asleep watching Teen Mom last night. Yes, I still watch that. Don’t judge! And after two runs in my @reebok Floatrides I’m still in love!!!! I don’t even feel like I’ve had to break them in. I swear it takes a good month for me to break in most of my shoes and these already feel great! I might need to buy several pairs to so I can stock up. #gotitfree#feelthefloatride
First run in more than a year and 8 weeks post-op for a neuroma. It was sloppy, there was almost an app malfunction, I can't decide how my foot feels yet and I ended up with a blister on my other foot but I did it. #thisis40something#hoboken#motherrunner#instarunners

“Don’t compare yourself with anyone in this world…if you do so, you are insulting yourself
When we compare ourselves to someone else we will always have to rank ourselves as either superior or inferior to that other person, and neither of those assessments will ever be factually accurate. Admittedly, a person can be better than someone else at one particular task, but that doesn’t qualify them as superior. Attempting to gauge how we are doing in comparison to someone else will never lead to an accurate evaluation because no two people are ever exactly alike. We come from different backgrounds. We possess different talents. We have different strengths and weaknesses. So how then would it ever be a fair assessment to hold ourselves and any other person to the exact same measuring stick?"
Let that sink in!
Absolutely PERFECT running weather! And this run felt AMAZING! The miles came easy, no pain at all, all around great run! Tomorrow is the test. I have my first tempo run tomorrow, and my last one was my demise. 😬I'm nervous but hopeful! Wish me luck! ❤️👟👊🏻

When I let go of fear on Saturday morning and let my faith take over, every little piece of me felt renewed! I seriously threw myself a #runparty for a whole hour this morning and had the best hour of #running I’ve had in a long time! 💥🌈🌟🎆🎆🎉🎉 I had no expectations... I was given the choice to try and run or do a pool workout... depending on how I felt after a full day at Disneyland. I woke up feeling ready to hit the road... not an ache in my body! I only looked at my watch when the miles chimed and every mile I just kept getting more and more excited! 8:19, 7:47, 7:34, 7:37, 7:22, 7:25, 7:14, 6:39 (.88) .... avg heart rate was 123! I’m not a heart rate follower but I was happy with what I saw. I see my chiropractor this evening and I can’t wait to share the good news! I have never lost sight of NYC... knowing that faith alone is going to get me to the finish line!! 💗💗 #nycmarathon#nycmarathon2017#nycmarathontraining#motherrunner
#transformationtuesday Last year I just started running and would run 2-3x week to get ready for what I thought was going to my one and only 5k in November. My nights last year mostly consisted of watching my favorite shows and occasionally a night out with my husband. This year my nights consist of running, yoga, strength training and lot of discussion with my husband on coordinating scheduled races. The picture on the right shows the new me, dedicated runner who found a new hobby/obsession with running. What has not changed is my husband's love and support. ❤️ #motherrunner#deafrunner#womensrunningcommunity#thesemotherscanrun#inspiringwomenrunners#igrunnerz
