Spotted 500m away, the billy bedded down in the heating sun of spain, in the middle of bushes and thorns, letting only his horns appear. It was time to start the stalk. Finding such a big animal in the middle of all this was not an easy task, and when Fabien and @cardero88 saw 2 horns popping out of a bush, 10 m away, they froze. The heavy wind covered their noises and they billy was quite. They whistled, and saw the horns turn in their direction, but the billy was lazy. Finally, a rock made him stand up and run away. He stoped, 30m away, and fabien managed to take a tricky shot through a hole in between the branches.
The accomplishment of a great stalk. .

Kyrgyzstan is such a great destination for the global mountain hunter. It’s safe, the people are very friendly, the food is interesting, the culture is vastly different from western societies and the game animals are well managed.
Ibex and sheep are the focus for many of our clients and we consistently produce mature, older age class trophies.
Relatively speaking it’s an affordable option when compared to some of the premier species in various locations around the world and many hunters are wanting more adventure type hunts to complete their experience.
Here at Asian Mountain Outfitters we make sure each and every client has the hunt of a lifetime when they book with us and we still have some great openings available in 2018 and 2019 for ibex, tur and sheep across Asia.
Enquire via DM here or send the office an email on firstname.lastname@example.org.
It has been busy here at the studio with show season in full swing! Time to continue trying to catch up on some of the trips from this fall. This is a video of a nice billy from Grants Kodiak trip with his Dad and uncle this past November. First day in the field after getting dropped off. That will get your blood flowing!
Smile says it all. It was my second attempt for Ronda and everything lined up with a gorgeous old billy. Hard to ask for anything more than that for the smallest subspecies of Spanish ibex, and to take it with a bow has been a dream come true! Very special animal and moment. STOKED!!!!! 😊😊😅😅 2018 here we come!! #kuiueurope#kuiu#mountainhunting#bowhunting#psearchery#caza#jagd#jakt#ibex
Our client with his desert sheep taken with us in Sonora last week. This sheep makes him a 3/4 Grand slammer, meaning he’s taken 3 of the 4 sheep species in North America.
Our main outfitter in Sonora is a great option for clients looking to hunt their desert sheep. Comfortable accommodations, a wonderful host family and lots of sheep combine to make it a special place to hunt.
This is truly a magnificent Hume Argali taken in Kyrgyzstan in 2015 with Asian Mountain Outfitters.
Canadian client Vern Swarn put in a ton of effort and looked over a lot of sheep before this 55.5” giant was located and harvested.
Hunting in areas that continually produce older age class animals gives our clients a lot of confidence that big trophies will be glassed up provided the hunters stay positive, work hard and are determined to succeed.
Book your next alpine adventure with Asian Mountain Outfitters and experience the hunt of a lifetime.
All enquiries welcome.

Well friends, it took me a while but I finally made up my mind a couple weeks back to switch over to all Sony lenses. This was a very hard business decision for me because I’ve been a Canon L glass user for several years now and had some really nice lenses. But, it was time to come back home, so I did.
Canon makes great glass and they are some of the most adaptable lenses on the market. This meant I could use them on almost any camera body, such as Canon, Sony, RED, Blackmagic, Panasonic, etc. They also are built very well and have great image stabilization systems in them.
That being said, I’ve been a Sony shooter since 2011 and have been waiting a long time for Sony to finally come out with some good E-mount glass. Over the past year and a half, they did. Their GM line is outstanding, and so are both of their Zeiss lines, the Batis and the Planar. So, after much deliberation, I caved and sold all my Canon lenses. Here’s why:
Sony’s new glass is fantastic, rivaling Canon’s L line and in many cases beating it. Getting to use them on Sony bodies natively, such as my A7RIII and FS7, meant that I could finally utilize their new focusing systems for both video and photo. Let me tell you, native E-mount glass with Sony’s A7RIII is killer with autofocus and is worth the switch alone. Their new lenses are also very well built and they finally added weather sealing to them.
While making the switch meant I lost my adaptability, and the ability to speed boost on my FS7, it meant that I could get to finally utilize Sony’s bodies the way they were intended to be used. And after all, I’ve been shooting Sony for 7 years now. I have no intentions of leaving their system anytime soon, so I might as well buy their lenses.
So if you’re like me and you’ve been debating whether to switch your lenses from Canon to Sony, I would like to encourage you to do it. It’s costly, and it means you’re committing to the system. But if you know you’re wanting to stay in the Sony world for the long haul, then it’s totally worth it. I know I’m glad I switched!
Philip von Arenstorff hunting guide in Greenland (@vonarenstorffhunting) was lucky enough to get this beautiful Caribou while hunting in a sand storm last season. He chose the Super Down for a cold day. He shared with us his experience:
