When your muscles get tightens, you need to loosen them to improve range of motion (ROM). .

Here's my weekly mobility routine...
A Jefferson Curl (must do exercise)
- Stretch and strengthen your whole posterior chain
B Kneeling Lunge Stretch
- Stretches hip flexors. Helps with your squats, cycling, or any sports. Also decreases lower back pain.
C Kneeling Lunge w/rotation
- Open chest up
D Straddle Neck Stretch (I've made the name up, whatever works, it works)
- This exercise helps reduce neck tension for me.

50 seconds on her plank hold average, 2 seconds taken off her 35 metre sprint, another 10 press ups in a minute and many more!

Throwback to a couple of months ago when I finally got my mother to climb and balance on trees again. She used to do this a lot as a child and was delighted to be doing it again. I've touched on this a lot in my last couple of videos. It's important to understand the significance of an exercise like this and its context. It's not just about improving balance and proprioception. It's also about offering someone an experience that is deeply meaningful to them. To do the things that one used to do when life was less complicated. The things one used to do instinctively before it was conditioned out of us. Finding a greater meaning and purpose in how we exercise is a huge part of creating sustainable, long term change.
Hanging out at Modus!
One of our students, Kuan, working on one arm hangs in class today. We have been instilling this work with the beginners to the advanced, encouraging them to hang everyday in a static, dynamic or active positions.
A combination of these hangs has helped a lot of our students with previous shoulder injuries, increased their overhead mobility and prepare them for further climbing or pulling patterns.
