"Then the delight when your courage kindled / And out you stepped onto new ground / your eyes young again with energy and dream / A path of plenitude opening before you" ~ John O'Donohue Work in progress (detail)
I finally visited @lightgreyartlab tonight for their latest exhibition featuring artwork made in response to time spent in #iceland . I am so glad I went! The space was lovely and full of great energy. Plus I was able to start daydreaming about my own residency in Reykjavik which I will be headed for in just over a month! Eek! These risograph prints by @anaseixassantos were my favorite. 😍
For the past two weeks I have used the time before my shift at work on Fridays to check out an art gallery or museum. There are so many around the Twin Cities that I have yet to visit. Today I went to the @weismanartmuseum for the first time. I really enjoyed the scale and vibrant colors of this James Rosenquist painting (World's Fair Mural 1964). I didn't know that he attended the University of Minnesota in the 1950's! 😱

It just might be complete! Maybe. I need to sit on it for a week. I started this piece last fall, so I will be super happy to move on soon! Also, this is the first painting I've done that doesn't have flat layers of decorative pattern (other than what I could squeeze out of the food themselves)! Weird! 🍋🌶️🥑🧀🥔
Fun fact: I used to want to be an Olympic sprinter when I was little. I prided myself of being the fastest runner in the alley and Marion Jones was my idol. Now I've simply succumbed to making mugs with sprinters on them. #sadtruth
