I had to make this post because I’ve seen it too many times, a great majority of the people still believe that fat spot reduction is possible by doing exercises targeting that body part and that somehow the fat will magically turn into a muscle. Unfortunately, that’s not possible. 👉

Let’s say that Matt does hundreds of crunches a day, he may develop strong abs, but they'll still be hidden by fat. Therefore, exercises can help you to build muscle, and burn more calories due to activity but it won’t make you lose fat unless you’re not monitoring your diet. 🏋

To clear that once for all, fat cannot turn into a muscle. The only way to actually get rid of that fat is to stay in a caloric deficit for an extended period of time (consuming fewer calories than burning throughout the day). 👍

Brothers Joe and Ben Weider established the IFBB in 1946. They laid the groundwork for the greats like Arnold, Lou Ferrigno, and Franco Columbu. ⠀
⠀
Weider developed generic workouts for body builders. These are full body workouts designed to work for someone brand new to weight training OR someone with reasonable experience. They are designed to develop a symmetrical physique ideal for for body building competition. ⠀
⠀
Bodybuilding is not an analogue to real life. As an athlete, your body no longer belongs to you! Missing workouts in a specific program like Weider often pushes the workouts back days...when your gym schedule is out of sync, you often end up feeling like you are failing because you missed your workout and your schedule is jacked up!!! Don’t breed failure!

A Full body routine written by yourself may not be as effective without knowledge of strength training and anatomy. ⠀
⠀
Symmetry breeds joint health. Asymmetry develops imbalance which can lead to pain and mobility issues. ⠀
⠀
You may omit important exercises when writing your own program. Systematic programming ensures you work your body evenly, across all planes of motion, while developing size symmetry and strength.
⠀
You may not know you need to add more weights to continue to see changes. This is progressive overload. ⠀
⠀
The biggest pitfall to pre-written programs like Weider is they're NOT athlete specific. They do not take into account your body, your needs, your joints, your history with exercise, your preferences, your previous injuries. A seasoned fitness professional should be able to adjust a pre-written program to fit your needs. They also can assess you effectively, then write a program specific to your personal goals while addressing your individualized needs which will also systematically cover symmetry, work in progressive overload, and be 100% designed with your goals in mind. 
Neither is necessarily better or worse if you know what you’re doing! Your experience is key!

Tracking macros is one thing, but if you want to truly be jacked, you need to incorporate simple habits into your lifestyle.

If you have these habits in your life, anything you want to accomplish will be easier, whether it's fat loss or muscle gain.

Eat protein at every meal. If you're lifting, you need a minimum protein of 0.82g/lb per day. So if you're 200lbs, that a MINIMUM of 164g of protein. For some people, you feel like Jabba the Hutt if you eat that much protein, but if you make it a habit to include a protein with every meal, then it's MUCH easier.

Eat veggies and fruits every day. You need fiber and micronutrients to live a healthy life. Aim for 3 Cups of veggies per day.

Don't drink liquid calories. Almost every obese person I've met drank loads of pop (soda), juice, and other calorie-containing beverages daily. If you want to be lean, switch to water.

Lift weights. You want to build muscle and look jacked? Lift weights. If you're afraid to go to the gym...screw it, just do it.
