I had originally wanted to post "Taste Your Love" to make a point about horrible Swedish marketing because DINAH HAD TO PAY FOR THAT VIDEO HERSELF to make it happen. But guess what??? It's STILL geoblocked even though she's not even on that label anymore! When will the incompetence end?? 😖
When I went to interview her in 2015 and told her the video was geoblocked she didn't even know! When she asked her publicist about it they said that it was this way so that it could potentially have another, more international release later? WHAT IN THE HELL kind of nonsensical business practice is that?? And since when do Swedish labels ever follow through on that nonsense when the songs will never pick up the traction to allow for more international re-release in the first place because you fools GEOBLOCKED IT FROM THE INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE.
Thus today the song/music video THAT THEY DIDN'T EVEN PAY FOR is still being held ransom for no goddamn reason. Dear Swedish labels (except for Ten), go suck an egg. Dear international Swed-pop fans, I am so sorry that your passion for the content is so frequently disrespected and disregarded. You deserved better than what they give you. Make demands. Get loud. Don't let them get away with anything. 🗣

So I was blessed with a message from a talented producer over in 🇺🇸 asking if I wanted to help him out with a new Collab Tuesday project he was doing making 1 minute videos with artists of all kinds. Of course I was super up for the challenge and he released the results this Tuesday! It was an amazing experience to throw myself into a project with a complete stranger and to take on whatever was thrown my way in terms of genre and style. Anybody else wanting to do a similar thing, let's do so! If you enjoy what we came up with, give @catchfrasestudios a follow and keep an eye out each Tuesday for his future collaborations. Thanks for asking @catchfrasestudios - until next time my friend! 🙏🏼🎹🇺🇸🇬🇧
Only my LONG-time followers will remember this but Dinah Nah was the first in-person/video interview I had in the Swedish scene. Before that most of my media experience was film/TV-related and at cons. The only Swedish/Swed-pop interviews I had managed to nab were in print. I sent out multiple emails to try to book something for while I'd be visiting Sweden at the end of summer 2015 and the ONLY response I got was from Dinah's publicist at the time. 👀🍵
Of course I knew a bit about her from her participation in MF 2015 but I still remember doing loads of extra prep work researching and drafting an outline on the train up to Stockholm (I was staying with Lizel on this trip so I went up to Stockholm just for this interview). I was beyond determined to prove myself and make the most of this opportunity. I stressed myself out beyond belief trying to get to her (former) label because the train had some sort of delay and I was panicking that they'd be furious at me for being late (they weren't, and I was only a few minutes late but I was still stressed about it). 😆
After the interview I mentioned to Dinah and her publicist that I was considering trying for Melfest press in the coming year but wasn't all that confident about it because I didn't know how to go about it, as I'd never done that event before and didn't know much about Sweden's scene but they were both very encouraging that I go for it. Obviously I did make it happen and funny enough, that publicist ended up being my contact to set up my first one-on-ones in Göteborg as they were representing Robin and also put me in touch with the contact for Albin & Mattias.
We all have to start somewhere but the fact that they gave me this opportunity was crucial. It's so hard to get people to take you seriously when you're not already 'somebody' with a big name and clout. Even now, I have to work ten times as hard to get even one-tenth the credit or recognition of the bigger media.
