Well! Good Morning to you! Just saw this lovely Review! By Edward Blanco for All About Jazz
"Monika Ryan: Windmills Jazz vocalist Monika Ryan has recorded a series of albums as leader since 2000 with the sensuous and audacious Windmills, a tribute to the lyrics of composers Alan and Marilyn Bergman, one of her latest projects. Voicing a repertoire of beautiful love songs and ballads, Ryan caresses the lyrics of each song with a measure of emotion and taste making for a vocal jazz album that's a pleasure to hear often.
Supporting her crisp vocal instrument are a septet of musicians anchored by a rhythm section of keyboards, bass, guitar and drums accentuated by lead players on the sax, trumpet and trombone, altogether establishing a musical background perfect for highlighting her talents as a songstress of note..." @rickenbackerguitars careful acoustic research has resulted in the full, rich and warm sound of the ever-popular 330 - now at cranes.co.uk and arguably one of the defining instruments the prestigious company makes!
An exaggerated full-sized maple hollow-body design is perfectly complemented by a pair of single coil pickups and traditionally shaped, trademark 'tick' sound hole. The 24-fret rosewood fingerboard is adorned with 'dot' inlays and two full cutaways allow access to all the frets.

51 years ago – 24 March 1966, American music duo Simon and Garfunkel made their UK singles chart debut with "Homeward Bound" which was written after Simon returned to England in the spring of 1964. "Homeward Bound" is from their third studio album, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme (1966), although it was recorded during the sessions for their second album Sounds of Silence and included on that album in the UK. The song describes his longing to return home, both to his then girlfriend, Kathy Chitty in Brentwood, Essex, England, and to return to the United States. Simon had previously spent time in Essex, and he became a nightly fixture at the Railway Hotel in Brentwood, beginning that April. He was reeling from his brief period in the Greenwich Village folk scene, as well as the recording of his first album with Art Garfunkel, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M., which he anticipated would be a failure. During this time, he met Kathy Chitty, who was working as a ticket-taker at the club. The two hit it off instantly, but it became clear that Simon desired to perform in London, resulting in an emotional farewell. Following a performance in Liverpool, Simon was at Widnes railway station, waiting for the early morning milk train to London. He had been missing Chitty's company and he began to write "Homeward Bound" on a scrap of paper. Chitty is mentioned in several other Simon & Garfunkel songs, most notably "Kathy's Song" and "America". In their 1969 hit "The Boxer", Simon alludes to a railway station, a possible reference to "Homeward Bound". A plaque commemorating this claim to fame is displayed on the Liverpool bound platform of Widnes railway station, although memorabilia hunters have stolen it many times. Simon is quoted as saying "if you'd ever seen Widnes, then you'd know why I was keen to get back to London as quickly as possible." #paulsimon#music#american#composer#musician#songwriter#singer#arranger#guitar#folk#rock#pop#simonandgarfunkel#homewardbound#1966#artgarfunkel#widnes#railwaystation#song#single
