We have a saying- that all stones are like snowflakes. Some will look similar, but ultimately every single one of them is different, unique. Each stone is like a beautiful work of art, and the room it’s placed in is the frame. This is why it is vitally important to find the right slab, but doesn’t mean it has to come at a high price. It also doesn’t mean that you’re left to choose from a granite yard either, no, the world is open to you. Buying quarry direct granite changes everything.

Hi! I’m Karen Mitchell. Author of the blog Fortitude + Finn. I thought I’d do a little intro since I don’t think I ever have on IG. Here we go ...
I could move every 2 years and be okay with it.
I super love + need Jesus.
Being a mama to Amos has brought me more joy than I ever fathomed it could.
I dream big. Most of them I don’t talk about, a few of them I post about and for any that actuate I am thankful, delighted and always working to improve. .
If my home were a hub where people came and went as they pleased, ate the snacks, drank the coffee, had a whiskey as they please my heart would feel full.
My husband is my anchor. Our marriage is loud and drive lots crazy but we love it- for better for worse, we’re in.
I super don’t love having my pictures taken and whoever is photographing me has to be fast or else I get painfully awkward and it’s done.
I’m most excited about the potential of having a market shed this summer and having the cute little things + produce + flowers for sale. .
I’m one of four and I love how exhaustingly loud and crazy our holidays feel. .
oh and In this photo i was 4.5 months pregnant and thought i was showing so much. Ha!

Before selecting your granite fabricator in Denver, it’s important to shop around. Don’t always go with the first fabricator you run across, unless it’s one of our preferred contractors which whom we trust and refer customers to regularly. You’ll want to get a few bids and compare them and make sure they are equally matched. Ask for recommendations and research them online to look for any worrisome reviews. Friends and family are also a great resource, as word of mouth recommendations are often highly trusted.
Many already know what they need timbers for. But for those who are curious, here are a few examples of how timbers can be used: ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
* Framing a deck
* Landscaping- timber edging
* Retaining wall
* Building a Pergola
* Steps- no matter where (in your home, for your deck, in your garden…)
* For a terrace garden
* Exposed beams in your home (great for any room for that cozy feel)
* Framing a home
No matter what you need your timbers for, we can provide you with what you need, and we’ll do it for a better price!
We sat down to learn about engaging fathers in education. We didn’t imagine we’d get to meet a civil rights fighter and the first black magistrate judge in the US: the Honorable Judge Arthur Burnett, Sr.
We strained to hear every word, sitting under an expert in the long game: hard work, courage (for the reform of corrupt systems), and humanity as motivation (in rulings and in his program matching mentors with youth).
"Consider the person before impact." Not something you'll hear in your average leadership training.
He presided over thousands of neglect and abuse cases. When we told him we’re foster parents, his eyes lit up and he said, “Oh, then I have two stories for you.” In one case, he watched a little girl rapidly progress from infant-level development to her peer-level (fourth grade)--it took one year and lots of nurture at home. In another case, the mother, while working on sobriety and raising her child, became an advocate for children and families healing together.
Thank you Educating Children of Color for this moment. Every conference should have the inter-generational and thoughtful structure you presented.
Also had the pleasure to meet @blackmommyactivist and hear about raising black boys in a post-racial (?) world. THAT is the kind of energy we need in foster care.

I’ve been itching to travel recently, with a backpack full of clothes and feet sore from walking (and dancing in train stations). I’ve been dreaming of skylines an ocean waves. Those moments when the unfamiliarity of a place draws you just a little closer to the people who are familiar. •
But I’m realizing, too, the expansive opportunity right here where I am to explore and discover the unfamiliar, to be a tourist in my own city. So, even though I know it won’t be long before I am packing a suitcase again, I am being careful not to leap past the everyday while it is here.
Here’s to beautiful places, near and far. What are your favorite places to be?
