I did ITIM in 1976, I was 20 years old then. After almost 4 decades, I’m doing another horror film, and guess what? my director, @red_mikhail, is 26 years old, but one of the most promising young directors now! And of course, who wouldn’t be thrilled to work with @beaalonzo, one of the most competent actresses of her generation. 😍😍 Hope you will all be as excited as I am. 🤗🤗🤗 #grateful#MyJourney
My name is Ferrin Roy. I'm here to represent the women who struggle with loving themselves. The women who won’t post a "selfie" without makeup. The women who compare themselves to other women. I'm here to help you become free from people and their limited perceptions of you! Your focus should be to become better than you were yesterday not better than the next woman.
I was born with a large nevus birthmark on my right cheek. Something society feels is a flaw, blemish, or skin disorder. Something society feels people should be ashamed of. My mother instilled confidence within me at the age of 3. When she was teaching me, she would say “these are your eyes, this is your nose, this is your birthmark, so as a child I felt like this was a part of me. If, say, my mom would have combed my hair a particular way to camouflage my birthmark, that would have made a complete difference. My confidence was affected when my mother was not around to defend me. I actually didn't notice the reaction from others until I was around 9 years old. I would find a mirror and talk to myself and say, “you’re still pretty.” I would remind myself, this is what you see, and you can’t worry about what they are seeing. When the stares and the comments were in an overload, I thought about removing my birthmark and I met with a plastic surgeon. Then it really sunk in — if I removed it, it would be to satisfy the opinion of others. This is something I had since I was a child, so I grew with it. I had to tell myself, this is you, and you have already accepted who you are. The moment I became completely comfortable in my skin, stares no longer bothered me. My confidence has gotten me everything I want in life. I fall short of nothing because my birthmark did not hinder me, it influenced me to help others. I surround myself with positive people. I've also learned over the years the importance of not expecting too much out of others. Everyone won't support or respect you. Protect your energy, put things into perspective, and PROSPER!
