Yup. This little lady woke up at 4:30a and refused to go back to sleep. To be completely honest, I was miffed that "my morning" was interrupted and didn't go exactly as I had planned it would last night. That could've been an excuse to trash my plan, my habit really, of starting my day with water, personal development, pre-workout Energize, my workout & then coffee. I was tempted to make coffee & just lay on the couch.
But instead, we watched the sunrise together, chatted a bit about Peppa Pig & other important toddler issues...and then I started my planned routine. No, I'm not always that gracious. I get upset & irritated when things go awry. But I also know how I feel when I don't take care of me--and it ain't pretty.
The truth is, you will find the time for things that are important to you. You can either take the time now to choose the hard things--maybe the stuff that you don't "feel" like doing in the moment (eat healthier, exercise, give up soda & fast food, make the call you don't want to make, send that email, have a conversation)--or you will be forced to deal with the consequences down the road, like health problems, overweight, hormone issues, infertility, financial scarcity, job loss, unhappiness& regret, etc.
We are all genetically programmed to choose the easy road--but that's not what will ultimately create success in our lives. Choose the opposite of what you "feel" like doing, and watch your life change!
Un extrait de ma précédente lecture (L'apprentissage de l'imperfection) qui parle de l'importance des petites attentions dans le couple. C'est fou car ce passage aurait pu se trouver dans mon livre du moment (Retour à l'amour). Bref. Je pense que cette pratique des "situations de plaisir" peut même s'étendre à la famille, aux amis et à tout le monde en fait. Un exemple concret que j'ai expérimenté il y'a 1 mois avec une conductrice de métro. J'étais en tête de train, en train d'attendre sur le quai comme tout le monde. En voyant le métro arriver, je l'ai regardée en souriant franchement. Elle m'a instantanément rendu un sourire et je l'ai sentie fière d'être aux commandes de ce métro. Ça ne nous a rien coûté et en quelques secondes ça nous a fait un bien fou à toutes les deux ! Comme une recharge pour les prochaines minutes à passer dans les transports en commun. Il y'a tellement de petits moments de bonheurs qui nous échappent au quotidien. Ils ne sont pas dans le matériel. Ils sont là, dans l'air, devant nous... mais la plupart du temps nous ne les voyons pas... Les livres de psychologie et de développement personnel, c'est vraiment mon truc ! Ils m'aident de plus en plus à me rendre compte de toutes ces choses et aussi à mieux me connaître, me questionner sur mon identité profonde, mon moi intérieur, pas extérieur, pas le moi que les autres attendent ou s'imaginent de moi. Ces livres me poussent à mieux me connaître donc et a faire en sorte que mes actes soient le reflet de ce que je suis au fond de moi et non dictés par la société, les parents... que ma vie privée et publique soient en cohésion avec mes valeurs, avec mon essence profonde. C'est l'heure du lunch ! Je file. Today was my last full Tuesday of momma work day. 😭 We're once again entering a new season with both boys in school programs everyday starting in just a few short weeks. I'm confident it will be a sweet season of growth for them and for me as I strive to better balance work and life.
But today, while I could have hit the ground running, I intentionally started a slow morning with the Today Show and working a bit from my bed. I stayed in my pajama's the majority of the day. I worked in spurts and rested in chunks. I enjoyed the quiet of my house, didn't utter a single word out loud (unusual for even me) and soaked it in.
It's hard for me to stop working. It's hard for my brain to turn off. I have a team of 350 families I take so much joy in educating and caring for that always has my mind (and phone) buzzing. But today I didn't work as much knowing I'll be back in work mode as soon as my flight to Memphis with the boys lands tomorrow. A visit to see my family but also working and teaching while I'm back in the land of the best BBQ there ever was. (Side note: Germantown Commissary, I'm coming for you!)
I'm so thankful for the flexibility and freedoms I have. I'm thankful an alarm clock doesn't wake me but the passion for empowering families to take small steps towards big changes in their lives. I never knew I could love a job so much that also fulfills my desire to be more than "just a mom", contribute significantly to our family, and have so much time freedom.
I don't care if you're a pooper scooper, artist, nurse, stay at home parent, entrepreneur, etc... I've learned that if it's the passion of whatever you do that gets you up in the morning, no matter how crazy the days or seasons, it's 💯 percent worth it.

Вытянулись за это лето обе и так они смешно в детской комнате смотрелись: вроде и дети ещё, играют так увлеченно, но уже в некоторые аттракционы не помещаются - долгоножки😂😂😂. "The kids are alive, now say thank you and tell me I am pretty." This used to be me everyday, now that life is more balanced and I am better at managing my own stress and frustration these days are now occasional. However, I have three kids four and under so of course we have them. Yesterday was one of them and thankfully today is not. ☺️ it is amazing at how magical some deep breathes, a green tea latte, and some positivity can be for adjusting your mood. Do you know that moment when you look at yourself in the mirror and realize that you have lost 120 pounds in the past 4.5 years?
Since May 2012:
🤰🏼 I have been pregnant 🖐🏻 times. 🌈 I have ✌🏻+☝🏻 beautiful children. 🍼 I have breastfed for 38 months and counting. 👶🏼 I am currently 8 months postpartum. ⬆️ I have gained 135 pounds. ⬇️ I have lost 120 pounds.
Here is what I learned along the way: 🍉 My 140 pound body is 💯 healthier than my 125 pound body EVER was. ☺️ I feel my best when my clothes fit. Even though my current clothes are TWO sizes smaller than my pre-baby clothes. 🙅🏼 Figuring out your #mombod has nothing to do with getting back to your pre-baby body and everything to do with getting to a better, healthier version of it whatever that looks like for you. 🍩 You can say no to the breastfeeding cravings for junk food. (I was shocked too! 😳) 🚼 You have a reason to take better care of yourself now than ever before. 🚺 This season of motherhood is not the time to neglect yourself, your nutrition, or your wellness. 👔 If you have to choose between cooking a healthy meal or folding laundry.... skip the laundry. 🙋🏻 I did nothing super special to loose this 120 pounds. I just did the same thing over and over. Nutrition + fitness + community support.

Sunday is for church, naps, and family time. Today we turned grocery shopping 🛒 into a family adventure that the boys will be talking about for days. I have been wanting to check out some of the local farms and today we decided to take a visit to check out Beasley Farms. I got a fridge full of fresh produce 🌶🍅🍆🥒🥕🍋🍌and they got to pet horses and cows 🐎🐄, feed goats 🐐, check out chickens, bunnies, and chihuahuas 🐓🐰🐶, run around and sit on the golf cart which is one of their favorites. Now I have sleepy little boys who will be excitedly talking about today for days to come. What do Sundays look like for you?
