Join us at Lapis Sky Camp, located in the Bunkhan Valley, Arkhangai. Bunkhan means “Valley of the Ancestors” and the valley is rife with ancient Sythian burial mounds possibly 3000 years old. The pass is called Princess Pass, for a Uigyur Princess in her palequin is said to have stopped to picnic enjoying the view. The Tamir river sings to us daily, and the sacred larch covered Bayondur mountain looms above our glacial-created valley. Golden unicorn horse head mounts have been found on horse skull burials in the region.
Hmong daily life || The Hmong, an ethnic group from China, settled down in the northwest mountains of Vietnam in the 18th century. Their life is based in agriculture and farming. Every family has few rice fields for self consume, because there is only one harvest per year. The whole family lives with 80$ per month, selling handicrafts to tourists.
Lunar year || A little girl in Hoi An selling candels during the Full Moon Party. The whole town was in darkness for two hours, only the lanterns lightened the streets. Hope and prosperity for the future
This building was during the Vietnam War the embassy of the United States Army in the old Saigón. || The first picture was taken on April 29, 1975. An american helicopter was evacuating their soldiers on the roof of the embassy, shortly before the North Vietnamese troops took over the city. || Nowadays, on the top of the building there is a fancy bar called Công Câphê (honoring the wining Viet Cong troops) where they serve expensive Capuccino with coconut milk. The other floors are mainly stores and restaurants. Except from the ground floor which is a beautiful gallery art.
After a long day fishing by the Mekong, a fisherman goes happily back home with his net full of fish. || During monsoon season the Mekong swells to 20 times its normal volume, this means 11 million liters of water per second. If they throw the net in a wrong way they can die
