Can I just say that I ❤️ #instagram ?
It’s brought me so many great connections, it’s helped me grow my Art biz, and it provides so much crazy good eye candy!!!
I’m fascinated by nature and the animal world, which is why I love painting flowers, botanicals, and all kinds of animals.
I get my #farmlife and #wildlife fix from several IG accounts but my favorites are @wingandaprayerfarm & @sandysisti & @luckycharmsandbeer
Check them out!!!
One of my favorite things to do with my morning coffee is watch @wingandaprayerfarm stories. I’m living vicariously through her. 💜💜💜
I think often about what we go through as humans, from resilience in growth, to fertility and child rearing, to the #cycle of destruction and rebirth, to the longing of home and our sense of place, and how intense and powerful, perhaps frightening, those times can be for us.
I think about how deeply those experiences are tied to our natural environment: how seed pods reflect the cavity from which a fertile object springs; how a single spark can utterly destroy miles of forests, and somehow the forest finds the strength to rebuild; how the smallest crevices can be the most protective homes for the tiniest creatures. I think about these things often, and I feel so deeply connected to every part of the universe while simultaneously so very small and overlooked. And yet somehow we forget how intertwined we all really are.
The art I make explores such connections. I love the fine line between realism and abstraction, lending hints of inspiration to the viewer, so I use layers of color and scrawled marks in my technique. I'm proud of this body of work, and I would be honored to share it with you in person.
Please visit me Saturday, December 2, 6-9; and Sunday, December 3, 2-5pm in my studio at Columbia Pike Artists Studios (#CPAS ) @columbiapikeartiststudios during our Open Studio pARTy event, and January 7, 3-5pm for the opening reception of my solo show, Seed, Planted at North Gate Vineyard @northgatewines . I look forward to seeing you!

Making progress on this black and white landscape. I love color so I have no idea what possessed me to try this one.
"My process typically begins out of the studio. I get ideas for artwork when I'm outside usually." • Grab your cup of coffee and check out our newest Exchange where we hear from the lovely @kellyannsheridanart and her project, "Oh Mary, Be Careful" (link in bio)• Follow along on IG for the next week as Kelly takes over and gives us a behind the scenes look at her process and inspirations. ✨
I used to paint birds all the time! My mom, @herkygirl, and I have really gotten in to birding this year, and I am so excited to start painting some more feathered friends. I snapped this Cape May Warbler in my backyard this week.
If you look and listen closely, you'll probably see and hear some new visitors in the Midwest treetops, because it's warbler migration season. I've had at least four varieties hanging out here at home just this week!
I love how this sweet baby looks all framed up!
