Ancient Raaj Neeti from the great Guru.
The true spread of dharam occurs when power is given to followers and not family.
All the kurbaniya which were meant to happen, happened for a reason.
Such is the great play of the Sri Hari 🙏🏿
KHALSA : HOW
We have learnt WHO the Khalsa was made for.We have learnt WHY the Khalsa was made. So, HOW was the Khalsa created?
Guru Gobind Singh ji recognised that the Sikhs had become overly 'Saintly', engrossed in the realm of nimrata and daya and accepting the designation of 'servants of mankind' only.
The common, selfish and abusive man had become selfless and kind. But this Sadhu mat was now preventing them from propogating dharam by FIGHTING adharam, thus leaving them open to quick extinction.
Guru had to change the formula. Many today talk about 'amrit'. As if it is and always has been 'one thing'. Charan Pahul was the amrit administered to those who wanted to become students of the path of aatmic gyaan (Sikhs of the Guru). The amrit Gurbani talks about is that which is physically produced and tasted/felt internally through immense bhagti.
The amrit Dasmesh Pita created was the Amrit of WAR. The amrit of the SWORD. The Amrit to give birth to Lions who would fight the internal oppressors by fighting the external oppressors.
The name Singh was taken from the ancient Kshatriya tradition. The roop of uncut kes was taken from the ancient Kshatriya tradition. The KSHATRIYA TRADITION WAS TAKEN, from the 'inactive and corrupted' inheriters of the Kshatriya tradition.
It was given to those who NEEDED it. It was a very real POWERFUL water created from steel, which had the ENERGY to infuse warrior spirit and ferocity into the hearts of the Sadhu Panth.
Khalsa : WHY?
Why was the Khalsa created?
A 'Sikh' can be anyone of any faith, who accepts Guru Nanak Dev Ji and his jyots as their Guru (Teacher). A 'Singh' is a Lion of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's ARMY, the KHALSA. One who gives his head with the readiness to take the heads of the oppressors without fear of losing his own life.
Guru needed the 'needy' to take up the challenge, not the ahankari, whose duty it already was and who should not have even needed to be asked (the Kshatriya Kings). The poor - low caste - oppressed would appreciate the opportunity. They had a reason to fight (unlike the comfortable Warriors Kings who had forgotten how to be Warriors.
Sound familiar? Which category do you think many of todays well to do Singhs fall into? Would Guru look at us today with our focus on career, wealth, trends, clothes, holidays, fame etc, and bestow his Khande de Pahul on us? On us, who are from a Warrior lineage but have ZERO commitment , no daily yudh practice or seek no opportunity to wage dharm yudh against the million types of oppression which occur today? To us who have forgotten the lifestyle and skills of a Warrior. To us who only wear swords for show?

In a world today where our Sikhi has been demoted to simply listening to the words (correct or incorrect) of those on the Gurdwara stage, TV or Leaders/Representatives/Personalities.... We need to ask ourselves and make a sincere link, between our current mode of education/learning and our spiritual/intellectual/strategical success in Sikhi.
True progress, occurs when one 'becomes' a Sikh, a KHOJI (seeker), and makes a superhuman effort to read, understand and apply Gurbani. The true role of the parcharaks/sants etc is to guide and encourage us towards 'self effort' rather than spoon feed us and make us reliant on them.
Awaken the light of khoj within you, and start on the real journey of discovery and experience.
ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਬਚਨ ਕੇ ਬਲੀ ॥
The brave warriors are a sacrifice to their given word.
We see so many times in our community today... Sikhs not following through on their words, always changing the goalposts and making excuses.
How Guru Sahiban once defined the character of their Sikhs, teaching them it is better to die than to go back on your word.
Read ithihaas. Let Guru mould you again. Become a person of indestructible character. In doing so, spread the shaan of the Guru all over the world once again 🙏🏿 Invest in the ultimate Sikh character building manual, the GurMat cross referenced 52 hukums of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, available here: http://www.turiyacharity.com/cart/index.php?catalog/all/-/date/1
Hukumnama Guru Tegh Bahadur
Dr. Gurpal Singh Bhuller collection
An early administrative hukamnama from Guru Tegh Bahadur the 9th Sikh Guru (1621-1675) addressed to the congregation of Benares (Varanasi). Addressed to the congregation and its senior respected members it blesses the congregation and verifies that congregations donations delivered by Bhai Dial Das sucessfully reached the Guru. The Hukamnama requests the congregation to trust Bhai Dayal Das for the delivery of community donations to the Guru. "The Supreme Guru (God) is Truth
Addressed to Bhai Dayal Das, Bhai Ram Rai, Bhai Jawehari, Bhai Kirpal Das, Bhai Bhoti, Kalyan Das, Bhai Sibboo, Seth Dalpat, Bhai Babu Rai, Bhai Bhikhari Das. The Guru's adjuration to the entire congregation of Benares (Varanasi) is to meditate on God: Thereby your lives shall be blessed. The Lord shall fulfil the wishes of the congregation. The offering of one hundred and sixty six rupees from the congregation sent through Bhai Dayal Das has been received by the Guru. The congregation has been blessed with the Guru's pleasure. In future all offerings may be sent through Bhai Dayal Das. The Guru shall grant to the congregation increase in prosperity and fulfilment of wishes." What do we learn, even during Guru Ji's times, sangat was very careful with their dasvandh. There were many con artists around taking money in the guise of 'Gur Seva'. Guru therefore would go to the extent of personally thanking sangat for their donations and asking them to trust his actual trusted representatives/sevadaars.
We should apply the same mat today, where there are thousands of people/charity to collect in the Guru's name. We should make every effort possible to ensure that they are legitimate and find out where and how they actually spend the donations they receive (independantly, not via what they tell us).
Wow! This is what we call a 'Soorma'.
Reminds us of the Nihang pauri in Panth Prakash. Put's his karni where his parni is (lives by his principles). In a cowardly world where we see our brothers resorting to wearing apologetic t-shirts like 'don't freak, I'm a Sikh'. We have warriors like this who live by Guru Tegh Bahadurs legendary principal, and seek to oppose those who instigate religious hatred.
Our highest respect to this Yodha, who had the guts to walk into an assembly of Nazis and directly challenge the most powerful (stupid) man on the planet!
As we all know, Punjab has gone through hard times over the last 150 years (after we lost our raaj). The enemy is external but also internal. With Punjabs precious water being stolen, land poisoned, drugs trafficked, Government and religious institutions corrupt, youth obsessed with Hip hop culture, female infantcide rampant, women degraded etc etc... The desire for a seperate homeland is understandable. But in present times... who would govern this land? Do we even have the unity amongst ourselves? Do we have people we trust as leaders? As administrators? As politicians? As strategists? As 'Sants'? What can we do in that case?
Turn to bani and ithihaas.
Learn. Learn. Learn.
Start walking the path of Sikhi. Inspire others to do the same. Start sharing the authentic wisdom of the Guru without apology. Start helping to sow the seeds of GurMat in the Panth.
Adopt Guru's maryada as our highest purpose. Regenerate the Khalsa Panth.
The rest will take care if itself. For there to be Fateh. There must first be Khalsa. In mind, body and spirit.
When the Khalsa breaths again. It will look to govern not small, but large lands, as was the will of the 10th Supreme Master - Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji 🙏🏿
Big dhanvaad to Navroop Singh for finding this image of Guru Nanak Dev ji with Shah Rukn-ud-Din from the 'original' B40 Janamsakhi! Amazing!! Here is the sakhi: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1253927261362982&id=925723734183338&substory_index=0
But most importantly.... supreme, are those people... who actually READ the books in their big libraries. And highest are those, who apply the wisdom of the divine text to their lives 🙏🏿 Build your library of wisdom, visit the realm of gyaan: http://www.turiyacharity.com/cart/index.php?catalog/all/-/date/1
We live in world where many Sikhs today think it is ok to follow a few rituals, go to Gurdwara once in a while, read a few posts and watch a few youtube vids on Sikhi in order to be informed. Spoonfed culture.
Real learning, understanding, progress... comes from 'own effort', preceded by a daily heartfelt ardaas to Parmeshar.
We need to give priority to the dharamic principle of 'udham' (sincere self effort) if we are to please Guru and ensure their blessings and guidance grace our efforts.
Stop letting others spoonfeed you. You live in this amazing age of information. Which of course, alone, is not enough to create Sikhi. But alongside bhagti and seva, will ensure your Sikhi is 'complete and correct'. Replace your 'opinions' with Guru-Centric mind. Invest in and delve deep in original Sikh philosphy and history (people's VAT excluded). http://www.turiyacharity.com/cart/index.php?catalog/all/-/date/1
