When physics and EDM collide! I was walking the halls when I stumbled upon one of my favorite demonstrations in lecture- the Rubens' Tube. The tube allows the viewer(s) to see various wavelengths of audio frequency, this is achieved because there is little pressure differential between any given area within the tube itself (by pumping flammable gas into the tube while the ends are sealed, this allows one route for pressure to equalize. Introducing a speaker to one of the sealed ends allows us to see the change in wavelengths of sound). Rough explanation, but correct nonetheless. #physics#rubenstube#music#lecture#science#nerdingout#college#education
Cheesing SO hard + completely freaking out on the inside from meeting one of my #metalsmithing heroes, @thomasmanndesign 🤓 He even took me upstairs and gave me a tour of his work studio. 🔨Such a humble + kind man with impeccable talent and design skills. 🔨 It’s a dream of mine to take a class from him one day and meeting him spiked that flame even more so. 🙏 Goodness, I even learned a few things from him today!
Science! Morning spent at Biosecurity TAS, part of DPIPWE, getting my little brain expanded on the do's and don'ts of plant import and export for our island state with my hort class. Massive job protecting Tassie's pristine environment and farms from weeds, pests and diseases. This is a microscope by the way......it magnifies 20,000 times to find virus living in plant tissue. YIKES! #nerdingout#horticulture#biosecuritytas#science#tasmania
Did ya know; researchers have found that fire can boost productivity from 200 pounds of forage per acre to more than 4,000 pounds per acre? When fires don't burn too hot, they can provide a hotbed of opportunity for both wildlife and hunters alike. Just read this in my Bugle magazine and looking back on all the wildfire chaos from this year I thought I'd share 😊
