I’ve been wondering lately about long runs & gut issues and @nourishingmindsnutrition podcast summed it up nice :
Intense exercise does 3 things:
1. activate HPA axis to release cortisol resulting in a negative effect on the immune system, alteration of the gut microbiome, among other things and also releases CRH which activates mast cells
2. Sends blood flow to the heart and skeletal muscles (fight v flight) and ischemic injury to the gut
3. Stimulates heat shock proteins —> all 3 of these lead to disruption of the tight junctions in the gut and increased intestinal permeability aka leaky gut! Thanks for the explaination @meg.c.dixon and @victoriamyers_ *
Through trial and error I’ve learned that loaded smoothie bowls are one thing I tolerate well first thing post long runs but everyone’s different!
This bowl —> 1/4 avo, 1/4 cup coconut milk, 1/2 baked sweet potato, frozen peas and spinach, 1/4 cup water with collagen, cocoa powder, reishi, red beet powder topped with homemade pumpkin seed butter, persimmon, strawberry, cherry, and flax seeds
Well I can't get this image to turn, but I do know that I will not be able to stop myself from buying these world map file folders. I am such a map nerd. I'm not a big consumer, but oh my goodness, I get so wrapped up in things with world maps! #map#worldmap#nerdingout#travel
Self declared book nerd over here. 🤓 There is a pretty good chance that I have two or three books in progress at any given time—one for reading on the bus, one for reading at night and, to be honest, I’ve likely temporarily misplaced the third and will stumble upon it later. Big thanks to my Discover cashback, Amazon, and secondhand books stores for fueling my growing book collection. 📚
If you have any recommendations, send them my way. #bookaddict

I became a fan of this game (@ylandsgame) the moment I watched the first game play and then once my favorite YouTuber, @iamkeralis, began a let's play series, I fell in love. I entered a giveaway he was doing and I was one of the lucky chosen ones (haha).
These pictures span from the moment we (my son and I) started our adventure leaving our first island in hopes of finding another. On the way we happened across some sunken ruins. Upon exploring the ruins I found a sunken boat containing a chest with scuba gear and a note talking about a treasure vault. The area also contained a note with a code needing to be decoded, a statue needing a password to obtain treasure and a locked building. All-in-all it was quite epic. After leaving here it got... Dark, lol. We got lost at sea, endured a massive snow storm as well as rain storms, where we were tossed around on the waves, freezing and hungry. This game is SO vast and the possibilities seem endless. I can't wait to see what happens next. P.s. We both froze to death, so hopefully one day on the high seas we'll find our old rafts drifting along 😂😂
Awesome, easy hike today with @heathermen. I'd been wanting to get up to Caribou Ranch since moving to CO, mostly due to its history in rock music. Many, many big rock and pop albums recorded there in the 70s.
