“Gas Station- A Short Film. “Gas Station” is a short movie I wrote and am directing about a middle-aged salesman who stops at a gas station to use the restroom. What happens inside that restroom is both hysterical and disturbing, as we follow the anguish- both emotional and physical- of a man on the brink of a breakdown. While still parked outside the restroom, he is berated by his sales manager for hitting a low point in his career. Once inside. he will face his darkest demons. I created this photo gallery so you can follow the trajectory of the making of this ultra-low budget movie- my first- and hopefully be inspired by the great crew, creativity and talent that will go into “the making of.” I purposely crafted a simple story for my first foray into filmmaking- one actor, 2 locations, a few props. Taking advantage of today’s high end, small, digital cameras that shoot in 4K and using lightweight LED lighting and a volunteer crew and post production team working for the pure love of filmmaking, I’m setting out to show that there are no barriers to entry for aspiring talent- other than talent itself. It will remain to be seen how film festival audiences and critics and you, the viewers, react to this movie when it’s completed. But for now, let’s focus on the process of making the movie, meet the people behind the scenes who are pouring their hearts and souls into it, and discover how a new generation of filmmakers are using today’s more affordable, lightweight and readily accessible technologies to tell their stories.
