Forgot to mention in my previous post that this lil girls name is Joy😊 • • •
She became a part of the family after we unfortunately had to put down our previous Springer. She really has brought life back to the house and has filled our hearts with so much, well, Joy💕

While prospecting today I came across this beautiful wonder. I sat for maybe an hour watching and listening to the water trickle down the ledge beneath the ice. It was incredibly beautiful and complimented the crisp fall air.
So this is how the conversation went... .
Me: “Hey daughter (I don’t call her that, I know her name), would you pose for a portrait, although don’t pose because all good photographers don’t have their subjects pose because that’s so not cool. So don’t do that, but look at me but not totally because if you look right at me and smile it will look like a pose, which we can’t do. Oh and since it’s freezing cold and windy, maybe let the wind blow your hair around so the picture will convey the sense of movement. But not so much that it completely covers your face and eyes, because then we couldn’t see you.” .
Her: Says nothing and does this. .
Your face when you are done ✅ Первое соревнование позади.
We went for a long, leisurely hike this afternoon. 🌲
The kids made some interesting discoveries. They found A TON of blue jay feathers- right where we usually hear and one and time actually SAW a barred owl. 🦉
(Their theory is that the owl ate the blue jay for lunch. Poor guy!)
We had our pocket microscopes 🔬 with us and the kids loved checking out the various feathers under the microscope.
They also used the microscope to examine bark, mushrooms, and ice chunks.
I always recommend these little microscopes to friends when they ask for gift ideas. They are inexpensive, durable, small, and they inspire OODLES of learning.
We have had ours for years and they are still going strong!
