I was reading my favourite book yesterday "Oh the places you'll go!" by Dr.Seuss and it occurred to me that I have been stuck in "The Waiting Place" - a most useless place, for people who are "...just waiting" I have been waiting - for more time, for a better space to work in, for but mostly for permission to be the artist that I long to be. And it's only ME stopping me from that. A wise woman recently said to me there will always be a reason not to, but "find your true passion and tell yourself I CAN" I have tried my hand at so many different mediums but always something inside yearns to paint, huge canvases preferably, but whilst I need to be realistic about that, I am no longer waiting, I am starting small and allowing myself to fulfil who I really am. I have recently been so inspired and encouraged by the incredible talent of people like @karenmandersen and @paintingismyparadise to name but a few, that I am now ready to climb my own mountain...✨✨✨
I bought some new paints today 🎨🌈😁 (swipe left to see more) despite being absolutely knackered as my toddler is sick I decided to have a 'rest' during her (thankfully long) nap by experimenting with them. Really I was just playing around with mark making and colour - neither feel like finished work but still it was fun and therapeutic to do. The first one was really messy and kind of expressed my chaotic state of mind and the second was how I felt at the end of the first! I'm trying to stop myself from overthinking things (which is really hard for me) so I've not used a paintbrush- just a pallet knife and other random things as I think I need to let go of perfectionism and loosen my style a bit...who knows which direction it'll lead?! ➰✨
Saw some nicely priced M Graham watercolors at the campus store and couldn't help picking some new colors up. Belatedly realized the red only has a lightfastness of II, but it's still nice to have a red to go in between my cool and warm reds-and it looks quite beautiful, i must say. Will have to see how well they mix with my Daniel Smiths... #newpaints#watercolor#mgrahamwatercolors
Another mermaid coz new paints 😍😍😍 these are from the Royal Langnickel Essentials watercolour set and it is amazing . The paint makes a very even flat wash with vibrant colour pay off but it doesn't look so great with the wet on wet technique . But really love the colour pay off and how fast t dries . I want more 💕💕
Finally starting to work on #brushlettering ! This is something I have always wanted to learn. Aaron gave me a new set of Windsor & Newton #watercolors and some bamboo paint brushes so I thought I would give them a try. The worksheet I am using is a free printable provided @bydawnnicole.
Just got my new #shinhan watercolors! The new paints always looks so beautiful!
