When I became vegan, which is just a succinct way of saying that I removed the barriers to the compassion that had been inside me all along, unexpectedly, the guilt and hypocrisy I had experienced while I was reveling in the fat and flesh of animals just disappeared. ⠀
No longer did I have to make excuses about who and what I ate, and any conflict I had felt about how I perceived myself and how I was actually living just melted away. My behavior became consistent with my values, and the sense of peace I experienced was palpable. ⠀
I’m tempted to say that I returned to the unconditional compassion of my childhood, but I don’t think that’s the entire truth of it. When I was a child, I acted compassionately without any thought — as if I didn’t know any better than to respond to those who needed my help. It just came naturally. As a conscious adult, I act compassionately with thought, and I regret only that the innocent kindness of a child is valued more than the informed kindness of an adult. ⠀
It was only when I was willing to look at how I contributed to violence against animals that I became awake, and in doing so, I have not so much returned to the innocent compassion of my childhood but instead have found a deeper place, where my eyes and heart are open not because of what I don’t know but because of what I do know. ⠀

My body has changed loads through the years but one thing I make sure of is that however I'm training, I enjoy it.
I've gone through periods where I've been bigger and periods when I've been smaller. As long as I am happy and enjoying my training, that should be all that matters.
And in that first picture.... I didn't even know what a barbell was! The thought of entering a gym was scary and I didn't have a clue what I was doing.
With that in mind, it got me thinking about what one of my clients said this morning....
Someone she knows who is fairly overweight decided to enter the gym as part of her new year regime.
She quickly got put off and felt embarrassed when she was laughed at by a group of girls in the gym making fun of her..... *****
Everyone starts their fitness journey somewhere. We should help and encourage people that may not be as confident entering a new environment. Not mock and humilate them.

It continues to amaze me how these little round circles that go under my feet can make such a powerful impact and work my abs in ways I’ve NEVER worked them before! 👉🏼I recommend the sliders, but if you don’t have them, try these moves with hand towels or paper towels! I promise you’ll thank me later! 😊
Combined with cardio today & let’s just say I was super thankful to have others holding me accountable to getting this done before work today! .

With New Years come New Goals.
My training since deciding not to play rugby anymore has stagnated as I’ve been unable to find a suitable alternative.
I now realize how easy it is for people to lose interest in training if they don’t have a clear goal/reason for it. This is why it’s so important to set yourself a goal and go for it!
So my objective over the next coming weeks is to plan 2018 out with everything I want to achieve.
We listened to your requests and brought the School of Plant Nutrition to Love Life! Hosted by Fred Busch @fredbuschyoga, the course is 10 days, Monday - Friday from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm or 6 pm to 10 pm. You receive a Health Coach certificate upon completion, and a whole lot of valuable information for your life and to help others live a healthier style.

That morning alarm came EARLY this morning, right?? 😳
Headed back to work today after a 4 day weekend thanks to a bad weather day yesterday, which means I’m back in my busy girl, praying-for-more-hours-in-the-day-routine! 🙏🏻
My routine also includes being confused about LIFE when my alarm clock goes off and telling myself that I need to go to bed earlier…no matter how early I actually DO go to bed...
But I literally have no time for excuses in the morning—gotta stick to the ⏰ and hustle because I have a standing video call date with my fellow #happyhealthyfit early birds every morning to get our workout in before work for additional accountability...and I start the video! 🏃🏻♀️👩🏻💻
We’re the kind of people who don’t get it done unless we do it FIRST thing...😬
Plus, it’s hard to be grumpy when you start your mornings with them via the computer & a good workout that helps sweat out any negative vibes still floating around. ✌🏻
I’d still get my workout in and stick to my nutrition because I never want to be back in the place I was 35 pounds & miserable ago…but having my online Happy, Healthy & Fit groups gives us the community of support we need to get me back on track any time we fall off…or need the additional encouragement when life gets hard. Plus, it’s fun! And my early bird crew brings the sunshine HOURS before the sun actually comes up!☀️

Not all nut butters are created equally. Read your labels! Nut butters really can be very simply made with 1 or 2 ingredients. You can even make them yourself (if you have time). Aside from ingredients, also pay attention to portions. According to the nutrition plan I am following, I eat nut butters in teaspoons, not tablespoons. So I gotta be careful not to over do it. 😋 Standard serving size is 2 Tbsp on the labels (6 teaspoons)• •
I do love the variety though. I plan on slowly transitioning our kids to the 2 ingredient peanut butter over time. They still don’t like the taste. Probably because they are so used to the one with all the added ingredients. It took ME some time to transition and now the mainstream peanut butter tastes funny to me. I love it when my tastebuds change•

If you travel a lot, for us it’s going skiing or vacations, the smaller container of almond butter or “single serve” packets are convenient. I like having the packets in my ski coat. #familyonthego
