For those of you that know me know that I love to travel. I recently went to San Juan Del Sur, Nicarauga and for the first time I felt something I never felt before (besides NYC). I felt at home. So much at home that I bought a piece of land so I can build myself a home there one day. However, right now San Juan Del Sur needs your help. Many families lost their homes and have had their boats destroyed. The last thing we need these amazing welcoming people to loose is their hope. Please take a second to donate what you can to them 🔝 click the link in bio. Anything helps 🏄🏼♀️☀️🛶💛 #ashleytakesnicaragua

Sometimes you've got to relax, let go and just trust that where you are is exactly where you need to be.
Remembering that as much as you think you know what's best for you it might very well be different than what the world has in store for you.
Just relax, you are exactly where you need to be. Om shanti shanti
Oh how I do miss those California summer days.
Traveling around the world these past two years has brought me so many life changing experiences I will never forget, but there has been something in the back of my mind the last few months pulling me back to the sacred groves of California.
Should I stay or should I go... about to take a journey with the grandmother to ask the very question.
What's next, where do I go from here? I'm open, ready, show me the way and I will follow.
Thanks @carsonacro for this beautiful shot you and our CA memories reside with me in my heart brother.
The Crack of Shivas whip lights up the night sky
Loud is the thunder of pachamama's cry
Down pour her tears it's time to clear away our fears
Death is at the door you must be ready to explore
This illusion that we make would you believe that it was fake?
Every step you take your given a chance to awake.
Louder the storm roars, as the ground begins to shake
Wake up from the dream and the illusion you create
Awaken to the magic and the story you create
Your guides are always with you
Your spirit animals are near
Now go embrace the darkness
And release all that you fear.

I've taught yoga to people from all over the world. I often find it interesting the response at the end of the class from the students as the words #namaste are uttered.
Sometimes it's whispered from a few, and other times there's silence.
What is the meaning of namaste and why do yogis say it at the end of class anyway?
I'll be honest my first few times in class I wondered this myself.
The word Namaste can be roughly translated to "the highest in me sees and honors the very highest in you--a recognition that, from this place we all are one." It's said at the end of yoga classes as an honoring.
As a verbal communication that whether you are the person teaching the class or taking the class, we are just the same- both students & teachers in this thing called life.
It's said as an opportunity to honor the space we've both committed to taking to connect with ourselves because quite honestly, each time we create space to connect in that way, we connect to something far greater.
It's not easy to choose to check in over checking out. Heck, its a lot easier to stay busy & distracted- caught up with the many things there are "todo" in this world.
It's not always easy to feel in this world, to sit, be present and patient with all the feelings and sensations that come up on a daily basis, especially those uncomfortable ones. Yet that's what we do in yoga, we make a commitment to sit rather than walk away. We embrace uncomfortably and often one we've arrived we find the courage to go deeper- the intention to dive in and move beyond our limits mentally, physically and even spirituality.
It's not always easy, but in the end, it sure is worth it.
So whether I've taken class with you, you've come to my class or you just practice on your own, whether you meditate or do asana. I want you to know, I honor you.
I see you, I feel you & I appreciate the time, the energy and the work that you're taking to put into yourself-- for each time you commit to you, you commit to everything and everyone else around you, and it truly is from that place that we all are one.
I mean it when I say, from my heart to yours~ namaste 🙏🏽 #thegutgal

N IS FOR NICARAGUA
Cody and I fortunately had time to spare, so 2 and a half months into our 5 month Central America tour we decided to take a break from the continuous travel and book a house in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua for 3 weeks.
Our small casita was 10 km outside of San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua and perfect for a quiet getaway. What did we do for 3 weeks in the jungle you ask?
Absolutely nothing. And it was just what we needed.
Apart from cooking, and doing the dishes; the two of us laid around in hammocks with a good book, spent the day at a nearby beach, practiced yoga, watched movies, and received daily visits from the resident dogs on the property.
Perhaps that is a waste of time for some.
To me, it is a human being in the moment, something most of us understandably have a problem with.
Our time in San Juan Del Sur was spent resting, recharging, taking it easy, unwinding, doing nothing, chilling out, etc…. and that is more valuable than having a list of 100 things to accomplish.
I believe it is vital for good health, and productivity.
The island of Ometepe in the middle of lake Nicargua is an island created by 2 volcanos which you can hike. The volcano in the background is called Maderas and is the one we hiked on this trip. It has a cloud forest and a lake formed out of a crater at the top. We also saw and heard howler monkeys on our hike. 🐒This island has so much to offer and the most welcoming people. We spent 3 days here during our trip to Nicaragua... check out part 2 of our blog post on what we did and why we loved it so much! Link in bio.
I picked up a couple books on Spanish. I have 3 yrs until my youngest is 18. I can pick up Spanish curriculum so I can learn to read and write it. Spanish is easy to pick up ... if I get around Spanish speakers, I get the gist of it for the most part. If I go ahead and get my #passport thats half the paperwork right there. I self teach myself to do a lot of things. #nicarauga#southamerica Safety is a relative term. I can get shot and killed around here in an instant so fear of it elsewhere is minimal. #politics#ghetto#hood#libertarian#democrats#government#republicans#liberal it makes me laugh at how many #christians are afraid to die around here😂 #missionstrips#church Many guerrilla fighters and even gang members in those areas will leave people alone who are helping the community ... there is nothing to be afraid of, just mind your own business. Dont bite the hand that feeds you. Simple concept.
