Today I was decorating, and literally if you moved, you might have got painted!
We are in our forever home for 1.5 years now, and as I was repainting a few of the walls (the really grubby ones), it got me thinking about the whole process of self building (i’ve shared a few photos of the process above).
When you first build all the money goes into the big stuff and you’ve little or nothing left for the pretty/non essentials, I’m getting there slowly and I’m now able to add all the quirky little bits i’ve wanted to for a long time.
Can’t wait to share with you our utility and my lovely new towel rail for the ensuite, but until then (or until we get some decent day light to take a photo 😫) I’ve popped a link in my profile of the blogs I wrote all about our journey with a self build.
For anyone who is starting the journey... fire away with any questions... i’m happy to help!
I went back to the gym today & it was a baptism of fire I can tell ya! I am going to be so sore tomorrow. We have had a busy old start to 2018, @itsmytribe is well underway and I am SO surprised by how many of you are already inspiring and motivating each other. Thank you for all the love and kindness on this fun little venture 💪
Nothing beats new fresh bedlinen, and especially for the start of a WHOLE NEW YEAR!
Gosh guys it’s coming up to my little blogs 1st birthday and I can’t quite believe it.
In the middle of a little blog on my thoughts of the past year and my hopes and plans for the new... there’s a lot to be thankful for!
Thankful for these little squares that has enable this mama to spread her wings and learn to fly again.
See you in 2018!
Just like that christmas has been and gone!
It literally did only take me about an hour yesterday to eradicate the christmas decorations from the house, and maybe next year the big tree might not go up as we are thinking of “escaping” next year.... what’s your thoughts of going away at christmas?
I’ve been loving watching @copperandeucalyptus trip away, and it has made me definitely put it on the cards.
On other news how amazing is this lantern I picked up from @wrappedupbelfast from ONLY £5.... major regrets I only bought one... so if your in belfast today and want to buy me one, i’ll love you long time.
Might venture to the rink at the Moy this afternoon to go rollerblading... has anyone been??
I think Susanna may be on the phone to Naneee telling her that she got mummy up at 6.30am after a late night, but really she did her a favour because the sunrise was stunning & now we have time to cosy on the sofa & watch Cinderella!! Thanks tiny alarm clock, now send all the coffee ☕
I am just lost for words about today. It was all I ever dreamed a family Christmas at Foxborough would be. I hope your bellies and hearts are full // "glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace and good will towards men" Luke 2:14 ✨
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas // We brought out the 'Ho Ho flakes' this morning and approx 2 mins after this photo was taken I proceeded to spill the whole box over the kitchen floor 🙈 I clearly can't adult today, popcorn and movies afternoon at Foxborough sounds a bit perfect. 3 days kids 🎅
So that’s the boys finished school (i’m actually a bad mama and didn’t send them in today 🙊)
I’m currently contemplating whether to make a batch of shortbread or not..... i might just light the stove and read a book!
Love my new log basket from @bodjproducts (sister company of @charnwoodstoves).
All their products are sustainably sourced.
This basket is made from hyacinth , which normally clogs up the waterways in Cambodia.... and it even smells like honey!
Bodj is a fair trade initiative which aims to develop local Cambodian businesses, in order relieve poverty and improve social and environmental conditions for the future.
I just love supporting companies like this.. and it made the most perfect gift from me to me!
1 week and it’ll be time to put those elasticated skirts on in preparation for your christmas dinner (classy bird).
This year (my first insta christmas) I have put the least effort into christmas.
Last year I went overboard....gift wrapping, made my own crackers (they were amazing... took me 8 hours to make 12), made the most beautiful table display, made party food.
But this year, we are having no guests, so none of that needs to happen... and i’m sorry but I ain’t staging it for “the gram”... don’t have the money or the time!
I am not even buying a bottle of shloer or any 3for2 party food boxes. I refuse to get caught up in the land of excess, when there is totally no need to!
What I am going to do later tho is make a pretty wreath for my door... my time to get creative with nature and it’s all incredibly selfish... just for me!
But first the ironing and cleaning the bathrooms!
Susanna's post nap time request was to read her reindeer a story by the twinkly lights. It's been such a relaxing day. Hubs & I are heading out with friends tonight for a rooftop Christmas movie, I have never been so excited! •
I won this beautiful, cosy blanket from @justlaurajayne & @lyttle_instas. Laura has created the prettiest hashtag #seasonsinsquares , I absolutely love looking through everyone's festive pics.
Last carol service for us tonight in primary school.
Can’t actually believe it to be honest. Another 6 months and i’ll be a mom of high school kids... like what even 😩
If you swipe to the left that’s my youngest 5 years ago... I could eat him, and I’ll not lie, I could still eat him (and he’s playing a shepherd again tonight... and he’s SO CUTE in his outfit).
Life very soon will all be about acne, BO, girlfriends and them having a better social life than us (who am I kidding, them already do!)
All is calm, all is bright // it snowed all night and we woke up to the most beautiful winter wonderland this morning. This is our first proper snowfall at Foxborough & the most exciting part was seeing all the little fox prints over the garden. Gosh I love this place ❄ #seasonsinsquares
I’ve precisely 3 minutes before this space becomes chaotic! Anyone else feel me?
Over on stories you’ll find i’ve mentioned the insta meet at Belfast Markets next friday night (15th) meeting at front gates around 7pm.
Loads getting in contact about it, saying they loved to go but are nervous... I feel you all!
It’s not a highly planned meet girls....Ive just threw a date, place and time out there, as so many always talk about meeting up!
MAYBE we’ll get some random person to grab a quick photo of us bunch, but after that eat, drink, chat and be merry!!
Some are grabbing lifts together, catching trains... so if you are going let me know below, if you want to go, but would be on your own...let me know below too.... and let’s just see how great this little community comes together to get everyone sorted!
PS you can share the word!
My Husband despairs at this time of year.... anyone else in the same boat?
All you male followers do you agree with him?
He really does not understand that pine cones need to be everywhere and even the plates and mugs have a little christmas make over too!
I have toned the decorating dramatically down because there is no sense in wasting hard earned money on £10 baubles for the tree that’s up 3 weeks, so i’ll get crafty and head out to nature.... cos it’s FREE!
Let the decorating commence.
It's been a morning of blitzing the housework in preparation for decking the halls tomorrow // I am running on fumes at this point, I seem to have a bit of a virus, oh the joys of winter. I may have to reduce my expectations of how much will be achieved today. BUT I have the cutest little helper and some festive tunes to keep me company. •
In other news, there is only one day left to sign up for the Christmas Cup Exchange!! I'm still completely blown away by how many of you have signed up, what a wonderful lot you are. If you have received your gift already please make sure to snap a pic and #christmascupexchange17 , maybe even tag me in the snap in case your profile is private! We don't want to miss anyone 🎅
My beautiful wall hanging from @full_hands_full_heart is up!
And I LOVE it.
It fits perfectly with my hall decor, from @voyage_deco.
I have to be honest tho, the hubby doesn’t get it... but he never gets the current trends.
He’d be happy living in a white box (as long as it had wifi and netflix!)
Have a good one!
I’ve had this idea for this space for about 2 months now, and finally got 30mins and a husband with a drill to make it happen over the weekend!
Bought the wall hanging from @shopmatalan for £10, and popped some hairpin legs (i got mine from amazon) on a rustic crate.
It’s now the perfect place to store my cookbooks (that I don’t use I might add, as pinterest is so much handier).
The @fortnums hamper was a gift last christmas and the crochet tablecloth peeking out belonged to my Granny Harriet.
A cosy hygee corner for the winter months, and it didn’t cost the earth 🙌🏻
Also... my photos of interiors will be shifting to a darker vibe over the coming months, as the light is poop!
Don’t know what’s been up with me the past few nights, but I am not sleeping.
Got all the feels for everyone with tiny humans out there!
How do you even survive?
I’m quite excited this morning as I am going to get LVL lashes at @lilmisscolour.
I’ve been going on and off to jayne for the past 20 years and she is not only an excellent hair stylist but a amazing beautician too.
I know many are skeptical of a one stop hair/beauty salon.... but Jayne is the BEST. I love that I can go in looking rough as and then magically transform into some kind of functioning human when I leave.... and always feeling ready for anything because Jayne really is the most positive person I’ve ever met!
This week tho is just the eyes and then next week the hair is getting chopped 😉
CRL Stone @crlstone recently collaborated with Andrew Ryan Kitchens on a new installation in its County Wexford showroom which I had the pleasure of photographing. This project showcases CRL Quartz worktop in Knightsbridge. The lighter surfaces are great for bouncing light in the room and make small spaces look bigger.
Designed for a classic new build property outside Holywood, this handcrafted Parkes Interiors @parkesinteriors bespoke kitchen showcases traditional cabinetmaking skills, inframe door design and classic finishes. As featured in the All Ireland Kitchen Guide.
Morning (well it's technically afternoon), but i'm just out of bed.... all the busyness of the past two weeks finally caught up with us all!
I have a plant addiction problem... I actually counted them last night (after buying another 5 this week) and I have 40!!!! 40 plants risking their pretty green lives coming into this house... but I have a pretty good track record. And I haven't bought fresh flowers in over 6 weeks now.... from one addiction to another.... what am I like 😉
Also feeling all the love for my new hashtag #seasonsinsquares .... remember to keep using it in all your seasonal photos and on the 3rd Nov, I will be randomly choosing someone to win the beautiful brass mirror from @wearewoven_ -
I have a full day or cleaning and sorting this bomb of a house!
Hope you all have a good one. 🍁🍂🍁
To celebrate the revised and expanded edition of the popular Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook from The Hummingbird Bakery @hummingbbakery, we have five delicious bakes from the book for you to try at home in the November issue. It’s no surprise to anyone that #myfavouritemug is my (.) (.) mug by Carrie Anne of @mre.soeur. Pumpkins, gin and tea - that pretty much sums up these last few days! Thanks for the prompt Charlotte @mrsmilkywilky 💁🏻
