Whenever I'm introduced to someone, I'm acquainted with the personality, rather than just him/her as a person.
After all, our personalities are what characterize us.
T'was a multitude of melanin and laughter at the @thekinkandi Meet & Greet Hangout yesterday. .

🌹 SELF CARE 🌹

This photo almost perfectly depicts the way I feel when I step out the shower every morning. Why?πŸ’
Self care and self love go a long way in supplementing our mental health for the day. A great way to kickstart this is to take care of YOU- indulge your skin & senses in that black soap that leaves you supple, that mask/scrub that instantly brightens up your day, that butter that leaves you feeling like goldπŸ’«πŸ’₯ #yourroyalglowness
You'll never really understand the concept of self care until you indulge in it, and trust me, it's one of the best feelings in the world.
Just as @keraessentials says, "Glow Like Gold, because you are Gold." ✨✨
I couldn't have said it better.

The four (4) Noide sisters were on different paths of the healthy hair journey; two naturalistas, one relaxed and one transitioning. As a homage to their dad, they extracted the last fiveΒ (5) letters of their surname to form the business name. -

Starting out on their hair journey, each purchased a satin bonnet from a popular brand. Imagine their shock when they discovered the material wasn't actually satin. In addition, it wasn't retaining moisture and messed with their edges.Β
They sought to find alternatives amongst other brands but couldn't, so they decided to make theirs. -

Little did they know their DIY experiment would grow into a business. "It's quite exciting seeing the business grow from just 4 sample bonnets to friends, and family ordering and to us shipping to retail and wholesale customers within and outside Nigeria." -

THEIR PRODUCTS include satin bonnets/sleep caps for adults and kids , satin scarves in large and small sizes, and satin pillowcases.

Lola has always been a lover of black soap and shea butter since as far back as 2008, so her natural journey pushed her further into the industry of natural cosmetics. She dived into research and formula creation until she climaxed at success.

Testing her products on her skin consistently and getting recognized gave yield to patronage. Their positive results and feedback encouraged her to monetize her passion, and that's how Ke'ra was born.

Ke'ra is a natural skin and hair care line that was created for both women and men. It is made in small batches, with simple yet effective with ingredients (mostly edible), all natural, locally sourced in Nigeria and most importantly formulated in the appropriate amount to achieve great results. "I've created a masterpiece of natural body care that I'm passionate about, sure that everyone would love. If you're looking for simple products to pamper/care for your body and deliver great results - Ke'ra is your best bet. With Ke'ra, you glow like gold because you are gold."

It's a shot 🌻🌻🌻 Hair styled and made by meπŸŽ€ - To see all extensions used, you may refer to my previous video.
When I started off this #hairstyle #hairstyleinspo, I estimated I'd spend at most 6 hours in total πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚- little did I know it wasn't child's play - it took me 2 days more or less (with breaks in between) to finish this #hairstyle and I'd say it's worth every moment spent πŸ’₯πŸ’« .
.

Steps:
1) It's advisable to begin on moisturised/sealed hair that is stretched or partially stretched hair to prevent tangles.
2) Part hair into desired sections, twist or braid each, mid-way or at the tip you may add braiding hair to increase length , before adding curly extension for the #GoddessLocs feel .
3) Crochet in your wrapping hair at the root of the section.
4) Wrap FIRMLY at the root and continue ( firmly or loosely) down the length of hair till you wrap around the head of the curly extension.
5) Secure with nail glue, a knot or by burning.
6) Stay Beautiful.

Tip: I observed that I had more flexible locs with the twist method than with the braid method. It may also be due to the fact that I didn't wrap too tightly down the length of the extension trail ( the root was firm though) -

Would I do this again...umm...Definitely YES πŸ’£πŸ’£πŸ’£ -

And yes, I have a video tutorial to be posted soon😘😘 #nitarrh #TWP2 #naturalgirlonabudget #naturalglam #naturalgirlproblems #naturalgirlsrock #kinkycurly #naturalhairdaily #blackgirlmagic #blackgirllonghair #longhairdontcare #africanart #naturalhairbride #unconditionedroots #naturalhairdaily #naijanaturals #bellanaija #healthy_hair_journey #DarkandLovelyAfrica #curlytreats @theafrik_muse #fauxlocs #naturalhairblogger #nigerianblogger

It wasn't until after this tub of goodness reached my doorstep that it hit me : "Anita, this is your 1st time 'ever' trying out a whipped shea mix. I've wanted to try a shea mix for as long as I can remember but I was always 'iffy' about the ingredients seeing as the lot I had come across had an unending list of botanicals infused -

My skin is unlike most so I just decided to stick to simplicity and stay glued to good 'ol sheabutter, then I came across @keraessentials BODY AND HAIR FROSTING. It was the basic formula & the natural fragrance that drew me to her product and I decided to give #whippedsheabutter a try.

One of the top ingredients is Vitamin E oil which is an amazing natural protectant against environment pollutants and harsh elements e.g. free radical damage, DNA damge, plus it's also very light in consistency so is a great film for my skin this dry season. -

Double action as it's for both hair & skin. I love smelling like wild flowers, who doesen't?

It wasn't until after this tub of goodness reached my doorstep that it hit me : "Anita, this is your 1st time 'ever' trying out a whipped shea mix. I've wanted to try a shea mix for as long as I can remember but I was always 'iffy' about the ingredients seeing as the lot I had come across had an unending list of botanicals infused - My skin is unlike most so I just decided to stick to simplicity and stay glued to good 'ol sheabutter, then I came across @keraessentials BODY AND HAIR FROSTING. - Double action as it's for both hair & skin. I love smelling like wild flowers, who doesen't? I've gotten a lot of complaints from people explaining how complex the topic of porosity is but in sincerity, it's actually basic. -

Porosity simply refers to the ability of your hair to absorb, and then in turn, retain moisture.
Key words: ABSORB & RETAIN. -

Think of how your skin has pores that open up when in contact with heat / hot water and how they shut close on contact with cold / cold water.
Now take that reasoning and apply it to your hair strands. In this case though, your hair has cuticles that protect the hair strand. You may think of these cuticles as the skin or pores of the hair that open up in contact with heat and close up in contact with cold.
That was simple right?
Now unto explaining these cuticles are related to your hair's porosity. -

Low porosity: Your hair is unable to absorb moisture easily, but once it's in, it does not exit easily. This is because the cuticles on the hair strands have very little distance between each other and are tightly packed together. They also lay very flat on the hair strand surface, leaving very little space for any form of absorption. -

Normal Porosity: This is the happy medium where the right amount of moisture Is absorbed into the hair and held for an appropriate amount of time. This is because at the level of the cuticle layer, the cuticles have a proper distance between themselves (not too far apart and not too close). -

High Porosity: While this form of Porosity can be present naturally, it is often acquired by means of damage to hair via environmental agents / pollutants, excessive combing and/or brushing, excessive use of chemicals (relaxers, texturizers and colorants),etc. -

NOTE: It is very possible for your hair strands to have more than one type of porosity, same way the texture at various angles of your head vary. -

This is the reason why you and your friend may have the same curl pattern but unable to have the same curl definition (because dry hair will frizz out faster than moisturised hair) or maintain the same moisture regimen.

Two words usually used interchangeably in #hairducation are 'Hair Type' and 'Curl Pattern'
This shouldn't be so 🚫🚫🚫
.
.
Hair Type is actually a big umbrella that houses the following sub classifications, namely:

Porosity
Texture
Curl Pattern
Density .
.

This therefore explains that curl pattern is actually a sub classification of HAIR TYPE. .
.
That's why you may purchase a product because an influencer got bomb results, and try as you may, yours may not turn out as you mentally pictured. .
.
While the both of you may have a similar hair type, same texture or curl pattern , you don't have the same DNA. There are so much more underlying factors that depend on the sort of results you'll get with each product you have. .
.

Stay tuned for more information on the above factors in subsequent posts

As an African child, one of the dreads I felt going to get my hair done at the salon was having to sit on a small, raggedy, old paint bucket - Lord knows how many germs have deposited descendants on there -and also have my head forced into the arse of the #hairstylist.....I know I'm not the only one - it has happened to the most of us πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ .
.
I kept on looking forward to the day I would get to sit down on an armed chair, placed in front of the salon desk and get my hair done, and sure enough, that day came. I must confess that I felt , "Ehen, now I am a woman, I am ripe." πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ .
.
Having surpassed all this and now an adult, I definitely won't be given a paint bucket to sit down on, there's is some other thing some salon owners/ stylists (especially in Nigeria) seem to get wrong. There is a short illustration below: .
.
Yesterday, I spent about 2 hours getting a pedicure that should take at most 50mins done. My leg was soaked and getting prepped in the hot water, and then all of a sudden, a car pulls up to the salon, and a middle-aged woman (about 50-60) walks into the salon, telling the owner how she has to be somewhere in the next 40 minutes.... I on the other hand had booked an appointment.
My brothers and sisters, do you know I just kept looking as the stylist took down the woman's weave, washed, rolled and styled the lady's hair while my feet turned to periwinkles in the water - mind you, she even added another hot water on top of my leg to resoak an unnecessary 2nd time to buy her some time.... .
.

At the end of it all, the woman is done, and gets up, touches me on the knee, and says , "God Bless You," and smiles. .
.

Are either of their actions justifiable?
Would you sit quiet (like I did) and allow your appointment time be gifted someone else?
How would you react?
What are your thoughts?

The amber season is almost at its peak and it's when the wind becomes white as snow and chips at your skin and hair. It's a time when all the moisture on the world might not do you any good. So what do you do? You hide and tuck away your ends🐚🐚🐚 .
.

Since returning natural, my go-to #hairstyle regardless of the weather has been #kinkybraids . While in school, I would rock this hairstyle for over 2 Months - with proper maintenance of course. .
.

Why do I love it so much?
β€’ It mimics my hair texture -especially as it gets older, plus it's cute! β€’ It allows me to wash, condition and steam (especially when done in shorter lengths )
β€’ Cuts down hair styling down by over half the normal time, and helps in retaining moisture for longer too (although getting in the moisture , you'll had to do 2x the job because your hair is hidden among extensions)
β€’ Allows me to give my edges/hairline more focus β€’ Gives me more access to my scalp for massages, etc
β€’ Helps me to retain and grow length -

Who else loves rocking kinky braids? I especially love curling my ends, it just gives it a whole new cuteness β€πŸ’ž

Helluurrr #weekend, you were good to me and my #naturalhair
Haven't moisturised #mymane in 3 days - that's what happens when you mix in extra sealants (shhhh 🀐 don't tell anyone, it's Animal Fat ) into your DIY Deep Conditioner . I don't play with my hairline though; Dry or rainy, it gets moisturised πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘
I'm excited for the dry season because it challenges me to do the most for my skin and hair - I wouldn't like to enter a new year with chunks of neglected hair staring at me from the floor πŸ™‚

I remember this day as clear as the sun. It was Thanksgiving and I took forever to get my face done but we still made it in time πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‚ .
.

In all my 8 years of being natural, I've undergone the the terror of Ghana Weaving twice.
The 1st was painless actually (will be shared in a following post) but the 2nd πŸ˜–πŸ€•πŸ€•πŸ€•
.
.
Some Hair stylists have this belief that Ghana Weaving isn't the best for natural hair because it gets rough quickly because our coils won't conform and would rather stick out of the cornrows. I can maintain the style for at most 2 weeks -if that's not pushing it - before my coils begin to lift. On the other hand, there are some hairlistas who can successfully maintain theirs for up to a month .
.
.

Talking about the process, this is where the terror comes in. You can't walk into any salon and say you wanna get Ghana Weaving done without combing your hair - who are you? You will even suffer it -unless you have fine hair . .
____________________ πŸ’‡They comb each section from the root to tip an unnecessary number of times - and God Help you if your hair isn't detangled - like they derive joy from dragging a comb through a haystack

______________________ πŸ’‡With each added section of hair, they feel the need to grab each hair strand from the "heart" of its follicle

________________________ πŸ’‡If you don't alert them on time, they will drag away your edges faster than you can say 'JACK ROBINSON.' _________________________ πŸ’‡Let's not forget all that Petroleum Jelly they pack on your hair - that's their definition of moisture πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. All that thing does is attract dust and cause product build up.
____________________________ πŸ’‡ All the curses they mutter under their breath ,grumbling about how hard and difficult your hair is. -

Anyway, what's your go-to protective style with added extensions? Would you sit down for all this pain just to look good?

You wouldn't believe the things I've seen and heard 😯😯😯 -

So y'all are aware of the Keto diet where you basically you stick to a diet consisting mainly of FAT. Now the point of this diet is to trick your body into thinking there's excess fat in the body ,so the body begins to excrete fat cells into the urine in large amounts , promoting weight loss. Anyway, Animal Fat (SWIPE LEFT) is one of the recommended items for cooking if you're on the Keto diet. -

So on a visit to a friend's house this weekend I came across the 'stuff' . I was like 'Oh, look at all this shea butter." And she replied, "Shea butter kwa? That's Animal Fat!" I shrieked!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
I had never come across it before - well in the state it was in. It mimicked shea butter so well. It was solid and of ivory colour. The only thing that gave it away was that it was way thicker than shea butter and it had an almost-edible smell.
She then explained how she uses it to cook and it's benefits in the Keto diet (refer above)⬆⬆ -

Of course I began to do my own research and see what I discovered oo my people!.... Apparently it has amzing luxury benefits for hair giving it unbelievable sheen and it's conditioning properties are said to be amazing! The part that shocked me was where I came across testimonies of people who had used 'BEAR FAT' , 'OSTRICH FAT'...Biko do they go to the zoo to capture these animals?..... -

But seeing as it had amzing benefits and I have It close by, I'm willing to try it out. What do you think? Would you try it - bear and ostrich fat? Or d you think it's a step too far?
Lets talk! πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’

Tool wash day ft. @bebynsure 's
β€’ Organic Tool Wash
β€’ Natural Tool Spray
#nitarrh x #nsurebeautystudi x #nubanbeauty

You guys need to help me thank @misykona of @bebynsure for redefining my 'tool wash day' @nubanbeauty brushes with these blessed essentials πŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’ž. .

Note: β€’ I dipped all brushes in warm water (the transparent bowl) before proceeding to wash- helps to effectively dislodge dirt, and then rinsed off in cold water (the yellow bowl) - will help to make the brush softer and lock in the benefits of the products. Same principle as hair washday applies here!
β€’ Need a quick fix that won't leave your tools drenched with hours to dry, opt for the natural tool spray, but for a full-on wash day (deep cleansing) grab the tool wash!. .
.

PROS.

Size: Very portable .

Effectiveness:
Organic tool wash:
β€’ 3 drops and one wash got rid of over 80% of the debris.
β€’ For exceptionally dirty brushes, I didn't need more than 2 washes.

Natural Tool Spray :
β€’ 3 sprays does it for me - extremely dirty brushes may need more than 1 round .
β€’ Stuff works just like my good 'ol DIY brush cleansing formula - definitely a staple! .

Scent : Fruity with slight hint of herbal - trust me when I say the first few pumps caught the attention of the flies πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ .

Cons:
No ingredients listed. .

P.S. They actually have bigger bottles now with ingredients listed 😊😊
I have another video (hack) coming up showing how I get rid of eyeliner and glitter gunk on my brushes; that stuff can kill your brushes πŸš«πŸ›‡
Stay tuned πŸ˜˜πŸ˜—

@misykona I must say that your organic wash and tool and spray are the best things I've used since shampoo to pamper my brushes. I finally got around to using 'em and you bet I have a video review to show the world how amazing they are!! Now unto the task titled "Editing!" 😊😊

This is one fad that we all tried at one point or another in our lives - if you didn't put your hands up πŸ™‹πŸ™‹
.
.
It's no secret that before dry shampoos and scalp refreshers came into the market,Β  methylated Spirit was the go-to in order to get rid of product buildup and smelly hair. Though even upon the introduction of these improved products, some of us still refer back to this "spirit?" Old habits die hard right? Plus who doesen't love to save some cash when you can get the "spirit" for about N1000, instead of getting an improved product for up to N2500.
.
.
Some even says it's aids hair growth. I remember back in the days when male classmates of mine would be trying so hard to grow their beard with the aid of this stuff. I can only now laugh at those strands of hair peeking through from their chin πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Such a pain!!
.
.
What's your take on methylated spirit as an effective scalp cleanser and growth stimulant? Have you tried it? Are you still using this hack? Have you dropped it? Let's talk.

TIPS FOR A FLAWLESS FAUX BUNπŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡ This bun was everything β€πŸ’šπŸ’™
Who else loves having their hair as tall as a magician's hat or so big that the person behind can't get the front view ?? πŸ˜„πŸ˜„ #bighairdontcare #signaturefauxbun
.
.
Having my hair in a faux bun is one of my best ways to protect my ends. β€’ It's very easy to get this #hairstyle all wrong and end up looking tacky so:
β€’ It's very important to moisturise your entire hair - I moisturise my extensions too. This will also help in making the extension and your actual hair blend better. Plus your hair will appear brighter and more luxurious. β€’ You should also be careful to not snatch your edges too tight -unless you think you have too much and wanna lose some πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯ . While a bun is an amzing protective style, it's also a great way to lose hair especially around your hairline.
β€’ Avoid excess gel because this later turns flaky and makes your hair appear dull. β€’ To make your bun appear more realistic, place your Bobby pins in the right place, preferably target security beneath the bun to hide those pins - in this photo, I was still working my way around that.
β€’ Flaunt your bun like it's nobody's business, and if anyone asks, reply, " Yes, it's all my hair." πŸ˜—πŸ˜—

Ever been in a bad shea butter situation?
Well, I have! The ironic thing though, is that, before I received sensitization about organic and degraded shea butter, I was getting my fix from the local market, and that which I got from there was 10x better than the one in the picture above (which is a well-known brand)
.
.
I received this as a souvenir at a Garden Party, and at the time, I was elated to try out shea butter from a brand I've been familiar with right from childhood (Tropical Naturals- Dudu Osun) but booooyyy was I disappointed πŸ˜£πŸ–“πŸš«
.
.
The first thing that put me off was the rancid smell, which prompted me to view the ingredient list (PLEASE SWIPE LEFT), after which I noted there was an unfamiliar addition: Di - Sodium EDTA
Hollup though, doesn't it say pure shea butter?...so why the extra extra?
Despite its unpleasant fragrance, I decided to give it a try - on ny hair because i wasnt running such a wild experiment om my skin - believing I would be proven wrong. What a laugh!....🚫🚫🚫
.
.
To get the content out of its container was a task in itself. Such a hard susbstance. Not only was it unable to melt into my hair, it "blessed" me with an itchy scalp. Imagine shea butterΒ  that you have to continuously break into pieces with your thumb - and yet, you're still left with several solid pieces. Because of its nature, it gave me immediate product buildup .
.
Luckily for me @afrovirtues_allnatural Anti-Itch / Dandruff Oil (PLEASE SWIPE LEFT) came to my rescue, gave me immediate relief while nourishing ny hair and scalp.
.
.
Have you ever been in a bad shea butter situation?
Well talk more about Di - Sodium EDTA in the next post.

We are in times where social media has influenced the everyday look of a random individual, making him/her long for pinker lips, fuller breasts, bigger hips, more curves, etc and then the men....*coughs* you know what y'all wantπŸ•΄πŸ•΄
.
.
For those familiar with the streets of Lagos, you have probably heard of Ikeja Underbridge where all sort of illegal invasive surgeries go on from tattoos, "natural" permanent pink lips, permanent eyebrows to skin whitening. Sometimes I wonder if there is some underground tunnel where all this takes place or if it happens right in plain sight under the bridge with all that bacteria and dirt around
.
.
Upon every passage through the area, I'm approached by several boys (I haven't been approached by a female rep yet) trying to grab unto me, making me purchase their goods (pink lip cream). Upon giving them the nasty eye, my sights would first fall upon their definitely unnatural pink lips. One time I even spotted an Aboki rep with the same characteristics and I cringed because his ebony complexion greatly contrasted with the oyibo pink of his lips😫😫 giving him a ghostly appearance .
.
I've come across a lot of people who have naturally black lips (that is without the help is smokes, drugs and the likes) and are so frustrated. Upon giving them natural DIY's or even referring them to natural Skincare brands, they reply, "I don't have time for that." Again, PATIENCE!! Everyone wants that sharp, quick, abra-ca-dab-ra effect. Don't they know that good things come to those who wait?
We keep preaching that you should love yourself and the skin you're in.Theres no harm in using beauty products but natural/organic are the best and safest way to bringing out the best in your God-given beauty.
.
.
P.S. I could barely find any decent photos of the pink lip cream or persons who have used with results so i'll just stick to what I could find (PLEASE SWIPE LEFT)
.
.
As usual, what are your thoughts? Have you met anyone who is considering trying or has even tried it? Would you risk using it? Feel free to help an individual in the comment section by dropping some DIY'S if you have any πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

Who loves to decorate their crown with accessories? I do too πŸ™‹πŸ™‹ but lately, flowers and plants are my go-to.

Here's cheers to the latest beauty fad or naahhh? βœ” OR 🚫

There's been talk of Dettol being an effective face cleanser - and I'm talking undiluted dettol applied to the face with a cotton ball, wipe or pad .
.
I had a conversation with a lady who had a serious acne and hyperpigmentation condition, and she explained how the above mentioned application had helped to dry out her pimples and control sebum production
.
.
This intrigued me and for a while, I considered experimenting, but thanks to God, I didn't.
Weeks later, I asked how far the "hack" was going for her. She explained that she had stopped, since she began reacting to it .
.
.
My people, please what are your thoughts? What are your reviews? Would you attempt this? βœ” OR 🚫

Twinning with Momma Mia πŸ’š
.

It's not so often that I find myself in an Anko-situation; I happened to fall into this one coincidentally.
When I walked in on her, I stopped in my tracks. "What is she trying to achieve?" I wonder.
According to her, she 'just' decided to wear hers the same day I decide to wear mine
#asfatewouldhaveit
.

I think it's a very pretty Anko scenario though , don't you?
Who would you say wore it best?

When I heard of this, I thought it was a joke! Unfortunately, it's not 😐😐😐
Why, I ask myself? Who would do this? .
.
A few weeks backs, a client of mine complained of dandruff and I enlightened her on an effective yet simple DIY recipe (coconut oil + fresh lemon juice). I even volunteered to carry out the entire process for her, and when we were done, she exclaimed at how breathable her scalp was. 1 week down the line, and the Dandruff hadn't peered it's face still. Almost 2 weeks before the dandruff re-appeared ,and this is someone who has been living with dandruff for most of her life. So , this was a step forward for her. I advised her to continue this once every week. We even incorporated a medicinal anti-dandruff shampoo to her regimen too. After 1 month of my service, she left happier than she came.
.
.
6 weeks later, we coincidentally met up and the topic of dandruff came up. "Hmmm, abeg, I couldn't do that thing again.I got tired oo. It reduced but I wanted a more permanent solution. I've been hearing about camphor and engine oil and I took a leap of faith , and It's amazing. Hmmm!" She said.
"What about the health of your hair and scalp? Do you think that's wise?" 😯😯😯
She didn't even seem bothered about that. All she was after was results. .
.
Ladies and Gentlemen, is she wise? Why not be patient? Would you do whatever it took to eradicate a hair issue, turning a blind eye to the process involved?

Maintenance of my cornrows was such a breeze with just my wet leave-in and organic shea butter ❀❀❀ plus it was good to feel on that loving breeze on ny scalp
When last were you on cornrows or a protective style that didn't require extensions ,how did you maintain it?

A lot of you have been accusing me if not putting up a #tutorial of this high #signature #fauxbun - yes you! πŸ˜‘
.
.
.
I actually do have a tutorial several posts down; the only thing I'm guilty of is not putting the bun up this high in the tutorial but it's quite easy so once you get the technique, you can then ascertain the height you're comfortable with.

I used BOOM Xpression Crochet Extensions to achieve this look.

P.S. I've used the extensions previously for a crochet style.

I actually do have a tutorial several posts down; the only thing I'm guilty of is not putting the bun up this high in the tutorial but it's quite easy so once you get the technique, you can then ascertain the height you're comfortable with. . . . I used BOOM Xpression Crochet Extensions to achieve this look. Happy Watching - or re-watching - 😘😘😘 P.S. I've used the extensions previously for a crochet style. . . . By the way, I'm having a fun weekend with my cousins @karen_ginigeme @tocheeg @bryan_ginis @rummie_ginigeme -yes, I'm still in #weekendmode , and if you're viewing my #instastory  #instastories  you'll definitely know! 😘😘 ______________________ #nitarrh  #tutorial  #signature  #fauxbun  #naturalhair  #nigerian  #nigerianblogger  #naturalhairblogger  #naturalhairedblogger  #bunday  #sundaybunday  #mondaybunday
Wore my hair up in an unconventional high bun 🌝 today looking about 3 inches taller πŸ˜† .

Stretched my hair out with jumbo bantu knots yester night. .

Got my 4B hair fibers curling at attention with my staple Aunt Jackie's Instant Detangling Therapy

I'll take Afri-Retro vibes anyday puh-leassee!!! πŸ˜†πŸ˜— . .

After much studying and attention paid , I realize that I have a lotta Type 4B Hair Fibers...and I mean quite a lot !! πŸ€—πŸ€— amongst my major 4C Type Hair Strands . .

My 4B fibers are situated mainly around the perimeter of my crown (the center of my head). The most-defined are those constituting my back hair ,followed by the hairs at either side of my crown. Then there are those constituting my front hair.
My crown is the toughest and coiliest hair on my head (hence MAJOR 4C πŸ™„πŸ™„) but that's a story for another day.
Note: 4B hair is S-shaped
. 🌻DEFINITION? YES, PUH-LEASSEE
My Type 4B hair fibers are most defined when there is a presence of moisture (whether it be water or a hydrating/water-based leave-in or deep Conditioner). The ones at my back hair spring up instantly as they are the most responsive and less tightly coiled.
Some products I've used that give me this definition include: β€’Water of course πŸ™„πŸ™„
β€’@her.prerogative Renpure Rosemary Mint Cleansing Conditioner
β€’@mynubianroots Deep Conditioning Hair Masque β€’@beautiphic Multani Mitti Clay
______________________________
On another note, which hair type fibers exist on your head? I'm still praying to find for 4A on mine πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

A #Sunday well spent brings a week of content. With that, have a serene Sunday guys πŸ’‹πŸ’‹πŸ’‹. Be inspired, be fruitful and open-minded for the week ahead

On another note, I'm considering challenging myself to do my next #hairstyle myself with extensions.....considering πŸ’πŸ’. How many of you have styled your hair yourselves, extensions included?

🌻 MAKING THE MOST OF A🌻 TWIST-OUT / DEFINITION Tag a friend's who needs this #hairducation
.
.
For some of us, especially those who have more of a 4c hair type, we battle regularly with frizz, twist-out definition and style maintenance to promote low manipulation . . πŸ‘‰ First off, embrace that frizz and the VOLUME that comes with it . It ain't going no where ❀❀
. πŸ‘‰ Tip: If you are making use of a styling product (curl enhancer, gels, etc), for the best twist-out definition, you should apply the product to clean hair first, even before you apply your oils and butters. Why you may ask?
This is because on clean hair with little or no extra product, the styling enhancer works best and is absorbed easily, and with this, you get totally avoid all the product residue that gets squeezed out of your strands during twisting. You may go ahead and apply your oils and/or butters if you may, but only after application of styling product first .
. πŸ‘‰ For maintenance of a twist-out:
I rocked the above twist-out for a total of 3 days before I finally loosened up my curls . Here's how:
βœ”Every night, I spritzed my twisted-out section with the @afrovirtues_allnatural Daily Hair Thirst Quencher βœ”Then twisted the section into 3 chunky twists
βœ”Next morning, twists should be dry before I go in and lightly coat my fingers with @afrovirtues_allnatural Super Hair Growth Oil to take apart each twist
βœ”In the process, I separate each section based only on where the curls naturally separate
βœ”I twirl each separated curl round my fore finger in the same direction in which it was twisted to keep frizz at bay and to encourage bouncy twists with amazing definition .
.

VOILA!!!! 😘😘😘 .

Unto the educative part, fruits have been known to play a huge part in healthy hair and good skin since the beginning of time, and with a smoothie blend, I love that I can experiment by including the skins of the included fruits to give my smoothie an extra POWER KICK.
:
Two ingredients I can't do without in my smoothies are Watermelon and Ginger.
β€’ Watermelon is loaded with antioxidants and Vitamin C, which is the nutrient essential for collagen production, and Collagen keeps your skin supple and strengthens your hair. It's also rich with lycopene and beta-carotene which can protect your skin against sunburn β€’ Ginger contains Gingerol which is its main bioactive compund, and is responsible for much of its medicinal properties. It's always an amazing addition to foods and drinks because it gives the dish/drink a kick especially if you're the kind that loves some sort of spice in whatever you eat.
It's also known to have effective detox properties (including bowel movement effects)..okay bye πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

🌻 Watcha say we start off the day with a product review ??? 🌻
:
The first time I purchased @auntjackiescurlsandcoils products , I added these two to my stash.
:
For so long I focused on the leave-in but wasn't completely satisfied, then one day I decided to change up my routine a bit and go in with the detangler straight outta wash day , skipping leave-in and oils.
:
Whoaa!!! I have never seen my curls so alive, happy and fluffy,Β  don't even get me started on how bomb my texture was after stretching (without heat of course). _____________________________
NOTE: I have Low to Normal Porosity Hair
😊I WAS ABLE TO PASS MY FINGERS SEAMLESSLY from root to tip of my hair without any catching😊
_____________________________
:
So, although the leave-in has got all these bomb and natural ingredients such as Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Argan Kernel Oil, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein and a few root extracts,Β  the detangler has got lesser natural ingredients and extracts; it's main composition is Water, Shea Butter and Olive Oil.
:
πŸ’ƒYou better believe that once I noticed how well my hair reacted to the detangler, it became a staple product in my routine. As at now, it triples as my detangler, leave-in and moisturiser. πŸ’΅πŸ’΅πŸ’΅ I'd say that's a MONEY SAVER...wouldn't you? πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰
:
Although I'm on the hunt for a leave-in conditioner of Nigerian descent which can do as much or even better than this.
ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ???

🌹 PUFFS & RIBBONS 🌹 PART 1
:
So my mother has this adorable habit of keeping our baby things right from our one-sies, toys, ribbons and even to our strollers and what-not, so when she showed me these bag of ribbons she used to style my hair when I was little, I was so touched ❀🌹

So I'm gonna be keeping these for my own kids too, in the meantime though, I'll be doing a series of tutorials with them.
I really should smile more in these videos πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Hope you Enjoy!
