Pondiwalk is the walking journal of Tammy Marinuzzi. She is walking to raise consciousness about the life of young girls of India's pottery caste, specifically in the small village of Thuvaradimanai.
We hope the WHY for PondiWalk as an Instagram feed has been firmly established, now the feed will turn toward images from Tammy's daily walks, as she plans for her return to India in the summer of 2018. We hope you will enjoy the images and learn about the challenges one faces when undertaking a monumental task. If you are interested in supporting this project click the link on my bio
There's just ONE MORE WEEK left of SOLful for the summer. We've had SO MUCH FUN learning science, art, playing games, dancing, and so much more this month ❤️ Stay tuned for a video at the end of this week 👍 @solidarity_solful
Hi friends!! I know I keep blowing up your feeds about this event- but that's because it is SO close to my heart and it would make me eternally grateful if you all came to support me and non-profit @og.yoga - you're $20 ticket will go directly to buying a class at a later date for someone in need who cannot afford it (a prisoner, a blind student, a homeless youth, a sufferer of PTSD). Let's come together and heal this community! Please 🙏🏼

Yesterday, we wrapped our super intense and very informative trauma-informed yoga training for youth populations. We dug deep into how Adverse Childhood Experiences can impact a human being. It was incredibly validating to know that trauma-informed yoga and TAM's curriculum can be applied to youth (with a few more games to make it interesting!). Trauma lives in the body, and yoga is a helpful tool for learning to self-regulate and process the traumatic experiences that have stayed with us. Excited for what's to come 💛
@ngcitizens is a non-profit social enterprise providing students with a concrete way to create community change. New Global Citizens programs provide students with a global perspective, an opportunity to create change, and the skills needed to thrive in a global knowledge economy. Our classroom curriculum, professional development trainings, and afterschool programs empower teachers and enable students to develop skills in global competency, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, digital literacy, and leadership. New Global Citizens’ vision is everyone lives and acts as new global citizens.
Classroom Program – The Classroom Program offers units, lesson plans, hands-on student activities, and resources for teachers to enhance their content area with global issues.
Afterschool Program – A student-led program designed to help students create a team of passionate individuals to raise global awareness on their campuses and in their communities, while simultaneously helping a grassroots organization tackle real life issues.
Professional Development – New Global Citizens offers professional development courses (in-person and online) that are a supplement to the Classroom Program or a stand-alone resource for teachers.
Earned Revenue Model
In 2012, New Global Citizens launched an earned revenue model to support the long-term sustainability of the organization and create a self-funding Classroom Program. Private and public schools and districts purchase the Classroom Program for $300/classroom for a full year subscription to curriculum, staff support, online resources, teacher community, and connection to NGC Global Projects. The fee does not currently cover the full cost to implement the program and is subsidized with philanthropic donations raised by New Global Citizens. As our program grows, the cost to deliver the program will decrease.
The Classroom Program has grown from 110 classrooms and 3,000 students in the 2012-2013 school year to 600 classrooms and 18,000 students this school year. By the 2017-2018 school year NGC aims to reach more than 2,000 classrooms and 57,000 student participants across North America.

Meet Mahtab. She is a female Asiatic black bear who was surrendered to our local partner in Pakistan earlier this year. She was used for mainly dancing but also for the cruel blood 'sport' of bear baiting. Thankfully she was recently surrendered to our local partner in Pakistan and brought to our supporter-funded Balkasar Bear Sanctuary. Mahtab will never suffer for entertainment ever again. She will stay in quarantine until she is healthy enough to be released into the main enclosure where she can live a bear's life, free from suffering.

When school isn't in session, unserved kids can go hungry. To combat this problem, we developed the Summer Feeding Service. Today, we kicked off this program at the Brentwood Health Center and invited local representatives, volunteers, and families to join us. Every Monday and Wednesday this summer, you can find us there from 9:30 to 11:30. Kids always eat free! If this location doesn't work for your family, check out the website to find out where else we're scheduled to be. Link in the bio!
