Can't believe I almost forgot to post one of the most haunting parts of the museum...a 180 year old slave pen was discovered inside a larger abandoned barn and was painstakingly relocated to the #nurfc ....this was where people were imprisoned while they waited to be sold to other buyers.....6'4" tour guide provided for scale in one of the photos.... #FanTheFlames#queencity#cincy#FreedomHeroes
My final post for the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center....they have a program devoted to combating implicit bias! They hold workshops and trainings for school kids and corporations, and one of the lead researchers is now the Chair of the Psychology Department at our own Harvard University! Thank you Ryan Wynett for giving us a demonstration of all you do!! #nurfc#implicitbias#openyourmind#FanTheFlames#FreedomHeroes#thutch3
THutch3 Takes Cincy: Bostonians at #nurfc include my friends and colleagues Prince Hall and Phillis Wheatley, among others! Keep swiping until you reach the statistic for enslaved persons in Mass. in 1770....2% may seem low, but this included all of what is today Maine, and much of that enslaved population was within the Boston area....Boston was a city built by slavery just as much as any other colonial American city.... #nurfc#FanTheFlames#FreedomHeroes
There's no way of capturing the beauty of how #nurfc memorializes the victims of The Middle Passage, but I wanted to share the plaque and two of the rocks bearing names of ships; one due to its cruelty, but the other because a ship of the same name brought the Pilgrims to Massachusetts.... #nurfc#FanTheFlame#FreedomHeroes#thutch3
We started at #NURFC on the 3rd floor with the Rosa Parks Experience, a virtual reality presentation where you experience the events of Dec. 1, 1955, through the eyes of Rosa Parks herself. Quite potent and I highly recommend it. #nurfc#FanTheFlame#FreedomHeroes
THutch3 Takes Cincy: Day 3.....the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center....we don't have nearly enough museums or institutions dedicated to slavery and its legacy in this country, but this museum does a wonderful job.... #NURFC#FreedomHeroes#FanTheFlame#cincygram#queencity
It's always good to be home at the #NURFC ! Moderated by NYT bestselling author and blogger @luvvie! Topics: law and order, #economics , #healthcare and #education .

Honored to meet and speak with Dr. Carl Westmoreland, world scholar, chief historian and curator of the National Underground Railroad @FreedomCenter in Cincinnati. Dr. Westmoreland discovered and preserved some of the most important pre-Civil War slavery dwellings and artifacts and he is the first African American to serve on the National Trust for Historic Preservation, traveling the world to work and speak on preservation issues. Took this great shot of him and @keithdixonofficial #heroes#freedomfighter#UGRR#nurfc#FreedomCenter#weareharriettubmans

Can't wait to connect our work at @GirlTrek with the work of this amazing institution. He offered his support and to that, I say "God is good!"
