Dutchess County residents don’t have to travel to New York City or Albany for specialized and innovative healthcare, thanks in part to two major projects creating hundreds of jobs and advancing medical technology in the county. More at link in bio. #ThinkDutchess
The first campaign we have selected is working to pass the New York Health Act, single-payer healthcare, which has passed the State Assembly three times and is close to passage in the State Senate. We believe this work is crucial to building momentum for national Medicare-for-All.
It's a great time to get involved. Everyone's got a story. Do you have a healthcare story?
It took me a while to get here and I am grateful for every step of the way. In my 20’s I knew I didn't want to stay in advertising and marketing and decided to follow my passion with nutrition. I applied to NYU for their Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, without any science background, in fact, I was scared of those courses in undergrad. I went to grad school at 24 years old without any promises of how it would go. I made the right choice. I chose to follow my dreams. I chose to not hold back because of fear of the unknown. I put in my dues, I interned all through grad school without getting paid, I worked in a hospital, and volunteered at a food pantry. After I graduated with my license as a Registered Dietitian, I was lucky to get hired by a prestigious private practice in NYC. @Joybauer took a chance on me, as a someone who was eager to learn, and change her path in life. Today, I have a private practice where I am able to be a positive influence on my clients. A breath of fresh air for most of them, because I do not believe in deprivation. I wake up every day, thankful I am able to do exactly what I want to do. Don't let fear hold you back. 🏥🌳THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL SERVICES (DFS) REMINDS HEALTH INSURERS OF THEIR OBLIGATION TO COVER OFFICE VISITS THAT ALSO INCLUDE MEDICAL MARIJUANA CERTIFICATION AMONG OTHER HEALTHCARE SERVICES. Basically, if your Primary Healthcare Provider is registered with NYS to provide MMJ certificates, he/she may do so at no additional cost to you.
Financial Services Superintendent Maria T. Vullo announced that the DFS is reminding all insurers authorized to write accident and health insurance in New York State, including health maintenance organizations, student health plans and municipal cooperative health benefit plans, that they must provide coverage for office visits for covered services, including those that may result in a medical marijuana certification, as long as the visit was not solely for the purpose of the certification. DFS has received inquiries as to whether coverage must be provided for an office visit during which a practitioner, along with other services, provides a patient with a medical marijuana certification in accordance with New York Law. “DFS is reminding insurers today of their obligation to provide coverage for healthcare services, and that they cannot deny coverage just because a doctor may provide a medical marijuana certification as part of an otherwise covered office visit,” said Superintendent Vullo.
The guidance issued by DFS today informs insurers that, under New York Insurance Law, when office visits that are covered by an insured’s insurance policy or contract results in a medical marijuana certification, insurers may not deny coverage for the office visit solely because the visit included a medical marijuana certification.
Consumer who have questions about what types of healthcare services are covered should contact www.dfs.gov or call (800-342-3736). #nycmmj#nycmedicalmarijuana#nymedicalmarijuana#medicalmarijuana#medicalcannabis#marijuana#cannabis#nymmj#nychealth#nyhealth#medicalmarijuanacertifications#medicalmarijuanacertification#newyork#newyorkcity#newyorkinsurance#newyorkinsurancelaw#NursePractitioner#nynursepractitioner#nycnursepractitioner#mmjprovider#nymmjprovider#nymedicalmarijuanaprovider
