Oftentimes as Christians, we can raise up characteristics of God to a level of idolatry, making ourselves believe that because God is good, He won’t ask us to do hard things. •
No matter how many books you’ve read on the topic, no matter who says it was the best thing they’ve ever done…it’s not easy. It’s full of anxious thoughts that lead to panic attacks at the thought of the unknown. It’s full of what if’s and lies from the enemy. It’s full of well-meaning comments from friends and others. It’s full of questions about God, yourself, and your spouse.
There’s no way to make sense of it until God illuminates the path for your next step or opens and closes yet another door. •
Whatever your step of faith looks like this week, keep following the path God is illuminating for you. Keep taking the next step. Keep looking up and looking out.

I struggled with this TERRIBLY but being sick has forced me to take the backseat in many things that I used to define myself with.
Thankfully being sick has also made me realize that my success is measured by my obedience to God.
Still struggling with this some days, in some areas but I’ve realized the power of obedience and how critical it is in my self-esteem, so I think that the battle is partly won.

I absolutely love this quote from Heather Holleman’s recent bible study, Included in Christ. She’s reacting to Ephesians 1:11-12 which says, “In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.”
•
With these words she’s trying to help us understand what it means to “…be to the praise of his glory.”
•
Her words have been echoing in my heart and mind since I first read them. And they are fueling me for the first ever Devoted Dreamers Retreat coming up in just a few weeks.
•
+ May we retreat for the praise of His glory. + May we rest for the praise of His glory. + May we love one another for the praise of His glory. + May we learn for the praise of His glory. + May God change our hearts to be more like His for the praise of His glory. + May we fight back fear for the praise of His glory.
+ May we pursue the dreams He’s put on our hearts…all for the praise of His glory.
•
Sweet Devoted Dreamer, whether or not you will be with us in a few weeks, this is my prayer for you. That everything you do would bear witness to His greatness (and that YOU, of all people, would see Him working) for your good and for the praise of His glory.

Monday morning question to consider: where is God asking you to obey?
Not to obey partially. Excitedly beginning something He’s pressed on your heart only to finish it your own way, or on your schedule. Not obedience that is hesitant, reluctant, or the result of an ultimatum. But obedience as act of the heart. Of will. An act of surrender. Humility. Worship
.
Obeying His voice with the same level of commitment to the one enormous responsibility, as to the five smaller tasks that may seem mundane or trite. No matter what He’s asked
.
Without excuses about how our ideas are certainly better than His. Without questions and complaints about why the path He has us on can’t look like someone else’s. No whining. Not trying to go-around-Him. Just total obedience
.
What would that look like for you?

"My mom was my first spiritual mentor. She taught me to love God’s word. She taught me to love God’s people. And she taught me to love myself. Her faith was never quiet. She has always shared aloud what the Spirit was teaching her. She vocalized doubt as she actively worked through times when it seemed God was out of sight. Mom taught. Mom loved. Mom opened her home. And mom was a visible representation of what I now know to be my personal Savior."

This is what we're talking about at our events this month, and we'd love you to be part of the conversation. What does your relationship with social media look like?

Is it a good one that leaves you feeling uplifted?
Is it a two way relationship with give and take?
Or does it seem to be all one sided, leaving you feeling a little empty?

Or something completely different?
We'd love to hear your thoughts? . . .

God desires each of us to be in the game. He yearns to have personal encounters with each of us. Surround yourself with people whom you can learn from and be discipled by, but may we never let the game end without even breaking a sweat. Now is the time for you to rise up. The whistle has blown, and it’s time for you to get in the game. Use what you have learned from others to begin your own faith journey and enjoy the excitement of experiencing God first hand. Never forget to share your experience with those around you, for in due time, your passion may be what leads someone else to their own encounter with the Creator.

Meet Amanda Bechtel! She has been married to her husband Rob for seven years. They have two beautiful girls (4 and 1.5) and she loves to dress them in matching outfits and bows. Here is her heart:
•
I love what this community stands for and it excites me! I strive daily to live as a woman of valor to be an example to my girls as well as those around me. Fun fact: I love laughter and people so I’ve decide to combine the two and provide comedy for various women’s events! •
It means doing what is uncommon so much that it becomes common to you. It means speaking truth in love. It means standing when it’s easier to just sit down. It means being a conduit for the Kingdom to move on earth. •
I am a stay-at-home mommy and I actively seek out ways to love on those around me who need love and encouragement and to show my girls what it looks like to be Jesus to others. It may look like taking dinner to a family with a new baby or scheduling a park play date with some friends who need encouragement. •
I have experienced PPD and still go through spells every now and then. I find it helpful to talk about it openly and encourage other moms to talk about their experience and to show them there is no shame in it. I try to love and serve other moms who might be in a similar situation as I was and show them they are not alone!

It feels a little bit like the world is falling apart. So many hard and hurtful things happening and I find myself with white knuckles trying to hold it all together. . . .
But I can’t. I can’t do it. I can’t make hurricanes, earthquakes, or violence stop. I can’t stop our dog from dying or even stop the dang dishwasher from breaking down. . . .
Here’s what I can do: Serve my kids dinner, kiss my husband, laugh with my friends. Apologize when I’m wrong. Serve a warm beverage to a hurting heart. . . .
If you’re like me and your heart is hurting for all the things you can’t hold together, hold people. Hold friends, loved ones, and strangers. . . .
This is how we change the world. We love God and we love our neighbors.

🍁 It started last year, probably around this time actually. I don't know why it seems the fall brings with it challenges (good, stretching ones) for me- and our family. But the past couple seasons it has. It's wonderful! I wrote about what kind of heart works been happening as well as what else has been happening; a start to a series called Maximizing the Minimalist. Read and follow along because My hope is we can help each other embrace our lives in a more meaningful and purposeful way; a way that goes beyond just the stuff in our lives but changes and challenges us in other ways too ❤️ [ Blog post link in Profile ] #beritaurorajean #finleyjoybabe maximizingtheminimalist #minimalist #notostuff #reorganize #organize #gracenotperfection #obedienceoverhustle #presenceoverperfect #create #inspire #share #newthings

With the amount of hurt, hardship, and pain people of this world have been experiencing lately...just remember He is with you. When you can't go one more step or carry one more burden...just remember you weren't meant to. •
Lord we have no idea why people do the things they do to show anything but love. But we trust that you are BIGGER than the evil we see in the here and now. Be with those who are hurting today Papa.

This moment right here... oh man, walking my little love to kindergarten has quickly become one of my most favorite times of the day. It feels special because it is a moment with just her and I and that seems like a rarity these days. I hold her little hand in mine the whole way there and she holds mine just as firmly. As we get closer to her classroom I give her hand little squeezes that say "I love you" and sure enough I feel them in return. Before I leave her I kiss her sweet cheek and whisper in her ear "I love you so much and will be praying for you today! Have fun my love!" She smiles at me and says "I love you too." and off she goes.
.
I think this is similar to how it is when we have our one on one time with God. He is our proud Father holding our hand and guiding us in our time with Him. He gives us little hand squeezes that say "I love you" and it is so blatantly felt that we can't help but squeeze His hand back. We get filled up by with His love, His peace and feel inspired with His wisdom. As we close our one on one time together He kisses our cheek and says "I have loved our time together. I treasure you my daughter and I never want you to forget how much I love you! Don't worry, I will always be with you every second of every day!" .

His Love is so amazing and makes us feel so uplifted and gives us wings to fly! May we continue to have those sweet and special one on one moments with God! They are everything!

I find it too easy to hold back. To hold back in ministry, in friendship, in heart and in life... simply because I don’t feel full enough. I think, “When I’m stronger/better/happier/more faith filled/more loving/more servant-like I’ll do x, y and z. I hold back and hold off and hide away because I don’t feel enough to do what I’m called to. I tell Jesus, “Not today. I’m not ready.” And you know what He says? “If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and if the good doctrine which you have carefully followed.” 1 Timothy 4:6
It says that AS you do the work, you will be nourished. Not before.
So here is to jumping in feet first and doing the things God’s called us to do, no matter how inadequate we feel. Because after all, He equips the called, He doesn’t call the equipped.

Those lips, them eyes... that hair and those blushed baby cheeks! 💕 Quickly my babe is Turning into a little lady. She challenges me in so many ways - my selfishness and sinfulness is all the more exposed. Today I was reminded how important self control is. (Proverbs 25:28) all last week I allowed my emotions to play out when I should have used more *self control. As I've been reflecting on last week and this verse helped bring to light self control is spirit lead not emotionally led. *sighs. Boy do I have a long way to go ☺️ So thankful for the truth of the word. The refining process. Painful, beautiful. Oh that I pray my little babes find their Savior. Oh that they would know the saving Grace of Jesus someday. Our selfishness and sinfulness taken away... Responding in guilt means I isolate myself and hide in shame. The other option is grace. Grace reminds me that God is up to something I can’t quite see. It’s the overflowing well that drowns out the lies of defeat. I can have confidence because of what has been given to me through Jesus. When I choose to live in grace instead of guilt, I remember that there’s more to life than performing perfectly.

Highlighting this beautiful woman again this week because she turned 30! 💓
•
Britney Dunbar is a woman of beauty, kindness, passion, and love. She loves so fiercely and has beauty and wit pouring out of her like a waterfall. We're so glad to share her heart with you:
•
Being a woman of valor means you are bold and courageous in times of trouble or even just the days you walk in this life. I believe it is knowing I have God behind me so that I may speak up for those who can not speak for themselves and sometimes speak out for myself as well. •
I don’t know if I am living a brave story everyday, but I sure am trying. For me, living a brave story means not giving up on this hopeless world and loving others so deeply it hurts. I think it’s hard for people to love deeply–especially these days. I think the best thing we can do for others-love our neighbors, someone we don’t agree with. The best support you can show someone is to be there for them regardless of how they live. We were called to love like Jesus loved. •
I encourage others to live a brave story by simply professing how love can create peace rather than spreading hate. You can not get anywhere in this life if you are full of hate, you will simply close people off to who you are and who God is. If you carry love in your heart you can be free. A wise man once said, “Hate is too great of a burden to bare.”-MLK
Life is too short to live it being angry or always disagreeing with someone for how they think differently than you. Hear people, hear their stories and you will find their soul. #sheisvalor

I believe it is knowing I have God behind me so that I may speak up for those who can not speak for themselves and sometimes speak out for myself as well. • I don’t know if I am living a brave story everyday, but I sure am trying. • I encourage others to live a brave story by simply professing how love can create peace rather than spreading hate. You can not get anywhere in this life if you are full of hate, you will simply close people off to who you are and who God is. If you carry love in your heart you can be free. A wise man once said, “Hate is too great of a burden to bare.”-MLK  Life is too short to live it being angry or always disagreeing with someone for how they think differently than you. Hear people, hear their stories and you will find their soul. #sheisvalor
I used to let comparison rob me of my joy— even in the midst of personal success. It used to define whether my efforts were worthy. It caused an anxious mentality of striving, and I neglected the tasks that God had called me to do, out of a desire to do #allthethings, and of course, do them well. I forgot that He had uniquely created me with specific giftings, coupled with a purpose that was unlike anyone else, and to compare what He had placed in my hands, with what others had was to tell Him that He had messed up
.
But no more. We all have a place at the table, a job to do, a race to run, and we are far more effective (and joyful) when we stop letting comparison steal, kill, and destroy what we’ve put our hand to and what He created us for

With all my heart, I want to protect my daughter from rejection of all types. We've all experienced the sting of that feeling- whether it's a friend or stranger. I've struggled with the fear of rejection for as long as I've been around people that could reject me. I've seen potential situations and imagined terrible scenarios. And when someone says something sharply or doesn't use the right emoji(God forbid we don't use emojis) then I feel rejected. Never mind that person might be having a terrible day that has nothing to do with me. Or maybe they just don't use emojis 😱. God is pulling me out of this shell and showing me that He has never rejected me, and that is all I need. I lose myself in fear and in what other people think of me, but all I really need is to know Him and His love for me. After all, the scripture is "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?" That is me. I don't want to gain the world. I could have absolutely no one left, as long as I have Jesus. He is enough. He is always welcoming, no matter my filth or sin. He always forgives and always has grace. And I am no longer living in fear of what others think of me, because His opinion is the only one that matters. As long as I'm seeking His righteousness, His will and His glory, I don't have to worry. .

I can remember the morning we met over coffee @themusecoffeeco and we talked about how collaboration was what this world needed. We are seeing a time where so many are hurting, have lost their homes from natural disasters and are more concerned with their own needs! • 👉🏼Fast forward two months and it's been a joy to share life, share memories, create ideas, create events and to show the world what supporting one another looks like! 💕
👉🏼Did you know that this weekend you can come support @letstalkfashionva and enjoy a fabulous Haute Couture Runway event held @craddockterryhotel on Saturday 8PM and see the talented fashion designers showcase this season's bests! I get to be the host of this show so please come see me! 💕 📸@GregoryBernard_

"God, teach me to take delight in the little things. Help me to see the small and insignificant as divinely created-- with a purpose. May I choose the pause, the interruption, the mess, over being productive, responsible, or successful."

Prayers I whisper. Inspired by the lives of my children. Hitting re-set on this Wednesday morning. Feel free to do the same if you need to 😉

I have always found this verse to be so comforting. When I truly believe that He goes before me...what do I have to fear? •
Praying anything can be intimidating and full of unknowns and fear...but God knows what lies ahead of us...and He's already there!

"When you’ve done everything expected of you... say, ‘The work is done. What we were told to do, we did.’” - Luke‬ ‭17:10‬ ‭MSG‬‬
.
I read this great quote several months ago by Christa Hutchins via @gritandvirtue : "If you don’t have time to do the things God has called you to do, you are doing things he didn’t intend for you to do. It’s time to examine our schedule and decide what doesn’t belong there.” I couldn't agree more! So many of us are exhausting ourselves in an effort to do what everyone else is doing (but better, faster and bigger), instead of digging in to the unique and specific things that God has asked us to do
.
So... What is it that have you been told to do? Love your spouse? Start a business? Pay off your debt? Serve the homeless? Give away some money? Quit your day job? Adopt a child? Care for your children or aging parents? Start a non-profit? Stay at your job? Go back to school? Support your leaders well? Stop complaining about your local church and actually get involved? Get to know your neighbor?
.
When it is all over friends, will we be able to say, "what we were told to do, we did"? That's my goal, and I hope it's yours also 👊🏼

Fear is a funny thing. Once you acknowledge it, you can begin to take the steps to conquering it. Especially when we give it to Christ. Last night, my husband asked me..."If you could do anything knowing that you wouldn't fail...what would you do?" •
I would love to hear YOUR answers to this question. If fear is holding you back, acknowledge it and move forward knowing that you are MORE than a conquerer through Christ.

"My freedom came because of Jesus. He truly fought my battle. It was in His strength and in His power, and not my own. I began looking to the Word and filling my mind with His Truth–which truly sets you free. He overcame every fear and slowly erased the lies that I had believed over the years. He began to build me back up again upon His Truths, slowly reminding me who I was in Him. "
•
I think one of the best compliments you could receive is one that highlights more of Jesus in you. "You are strong." "You are resilient." These compliments are so sweet because we all know how messy we are, how weak we can be. But through the Spirit, through faith in God, and the grace that Jesus died to give us, we can walk boldly and confidently...no matter our circumstances. Being strong doesn't mean you don't struggle or have grief. It means you keep going despite those things. •
What areas are you being set free in? In what areas do you see Jesus working?

Remember my post a few squares back about #obedienceoverhustle ? How I was trying so hard to do it myself and pay off our school loans by my own power? My husband just texted me and said we received an anonymous donation of over 2000 dollars specifically for our loans. We have a matching scholarship through our denomination that I had been striving so hard to meet, and this year God met it all. Now we are less than 1000 away from meeting the matching cap. YOU GUYS! I stepped back into my rightful place and God has blown my mind. I hustled for a year and stressed and worried and wore our family thin, but this year taking that step of faith which has been more like a stop of faith has revealed more fruit that I could ever do on my own.
All of this excitingly ( is that a word?) typed out to share a testimony to obedience. Obedience in some manners (like finances) is not a cut and dry issue, the across the board answer is always listen to his voice, and trust him. He's got you. He really does. .
.
.
{also, in case anyone missed it, we need to pay off our school debt before we are released to be international workers, so there is the importance of that}

Meet Jaime:
I am a mama to four school-aged children and involved with a couple of local not-for-profits. I love camping and if my husband asked, I'd sell my house and travel in our camper.
•
{On Being A Woman of VALOR}- It means being a woman who is not afraid of the future. Someone that stands up for what she believes in, but in a way that shows love to all of those around her.
•
{On Living Brave}-Parenting is scary. Everyday it is a choice to trust that the Lord is in control. That He knows better than I do. And that I am His daughter.
•
{On Encouraging Others To Do The Same}-Before my kids leave for school, I tell them to "love Jesus...be the kindest and the bravest." And I pray that for them as well. Last week, just minutes after telling my daughter this, she had the chance to be brave...to stand up to a boy on the bus that was threatening her and the other children with a weapon. And she did. She was brave. And also, she was still kind and forgiving. We have so much to learn from these young, brave souls that are growing up in this world.

Happy Sunday friends. We hope you will take this Sabbath opportunity to look up and listen to what God is saying to you...open your eyes to see your circumstances and interactions as He sees them. And if you have a hard time, ask Him to do it for you. He is faithful.

$121 extra a month, read the bill in front of me. Our renter is looking at moving out, subtract a certain amount. School tuition is due for the year, add $700. Unexpected car issues, add $800. Numbers swirled in my head like an out of control merry go round. You know, that ride at the fair that I can't afford to take my kids too.
But don't worry, I (capital me) can fix this. I hop on a job search and find three openings I could easily do. My old job would quickly hire me back as well- boom! Problem solved.
Right?
But there was something in the back of my mind. though the voice was steady and strong, I couldn't focus amidst the spinning horses.
I have a part time job already. Homeschooling starts back in a few months. And, he has clearly asked for my obedience in several other things.
Things that won't bring financial income.
I walked down the hallway, contemplating more income. I hadn't even submitted these needs, the income, these bills, to God in prayer yet!
I jumped on the worry train and let it take me on the fast track of disobedience to hustle town.
His resources are so much more than mine.
Truth- we are not being irresponsible, we are being faithful.
Truth- he's has provided always, all our needs. We are not in want.
Truth- God has vividly asked me to increase my prayer life, not my work life. - RF
I wrote this a few months ago. Guess what? He's provided. And Right now obedience is embracing the tension of blank pages, empty days and silence. Not reaching for my phone to fill cause I'm scared of these holy voids. I can fill my hours with work or my phone, Because what if God doesn't fill them? Or even scarier, what if he does? Because when he shows up I'm shattered and undone. And I can't live in a constant state of being undone- or can I?
I've been told to fill them with prayer. Fill them words.
Now the spinning has stopped. I've stepped off that ride and I'm walking, slowly, down this narrow path.
Won't you join me? .

Meet Amber. She is FUN, full of faith, and passionate about Jesus in the most contagious of ways. Here's a bit of her heart:
•
Being a Woman of VALOR means you remain steady even when you have no control. I've seen many women keep their families lovingly strong in the midst of moving across oceans, starting the kids in new schools, emerging in different cultures, getting involved in a new church, and making a new house feel like home all while her man is gone for work, training, or deployment.
•
In my own life, I'm currently preparing my hubby and I for our move to Europe this summer. The orders came as an unforeseen surprise for all! So many unknowns are in my future that it's easy to let anxiety flood in plus the unfortunate distance from friends and family we have grown to love.
•
But keeping focused on Christ and trusting God's wisdom keeps me grounded and allows me to enjoy the moments. I encourage other women to do the same each day. Practice in the calm prepares for the storms.

It can be an easy thing to ask and expect others to be vulnerable with us...but it's a different story when it comes to sharing our own hearts and struggles with others. In ISSUE 003, I give myself a bit of the medicine I ask of others and bare my heart and current season of life with Míla readers. I hope you'll take some time to read my story. I hope it encourages you and speaks two simple words..."me too".

Particularly on social media, we're exposed to SO MUCH inspiration and great teaching to help us develop us into That Woman we hope to become.... But how do we ensure that the things we're learning will shape the way we live and not just remain as 'head knowledge'?
This is just one of the themes we'll be discussing at tonight's event.
It's not too late to make the decision to join us ♡ .

I've definitely been in harder seasons but I don't think I've ever been in a season when it was harder to surrender. ...
It has been a summer of transition. Of being half here and half there. We sent off @apeaceofourlife last week and our boxes are being packed up this week.
Here's the thing: All of it is spectacular blessing. A new house. A new adventure. Serving the Lord in new ways. And yet...
I find my nails digging into my skin as I try hard to grab for some control in all of it. My skin is broken from it and so is my heart, and honestly, probably my family. ...
But as I sat down to pray this morning I felt the conviction of it deep in my spirit. I can't receive the blessings God means for me until my hands are wide open. So here I am, breathing deep and unclenching my hands and my heart.

"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord' and do not do what I say?" Luke 6:46
.
I've read these words before. I've heard them a hundred times (at least). Usually this verse is talked about when addressing hypocrisy-- those who can carry on a spiritual conversation, who clean up well on Sunday, but the walk the rest of the week doesn't measure up. Generous giving, selfless living and a genuine love for the word of God is what is addressed in most sermons... but what if it's even more simple
.
What if the obedience is more about walking in humility, admitting when you've made a mistake, encouraging others, getting over grievances, honoring a day of rest, giving our tithe, speaking up for truth, knocking on the door of your neighbor and inviting them over for dinner, looking the homeless man in the eye instead of down at your phone, giving your child the attention they're begging for, embracing your spouse like it will be the last time, not coveting, not complaining, walking in thanksgiving, choosing joy
.
What if we've made obeying His Word out to be an enormous step of faith when really it is about the small (and sometimes obscure and anonymous) moments that make up these vapors we call life?

Being a woman of VALOR is my definition of motherhood. It's waking up every day with courage and bravery to give my kids my best, even if it takes all of my energy. To wake up and get ready for a full day at work even if I'm exhausted from being up all night the night before. To be strong for my kids when they are sick or hurt and wishing I could take the hurt away. And most importantly, relying on the one I love most, Jesus. He is my strength through it all and without Him I'd be lost. There's nothing quite like falling short everyday as a mom, but always finding redemption through prayer. It shows my kids that even through my bravery and toughness, that I too, mess up and will never be perfect but am made new through Jesus!
•
There's no greater blessing than being a mother, but with that said...also no greater challenge. My kids and family are my greatest joy but also my greatest sorrow. I've never felt joy quite like giving birth, seeing them walk for the first time, etc. I also have felt no greater grief than to see them hurt or sick. Those moments are absolutely terrifying, but I have to remind myself that I was chosen to be their mother. And for that, I have to be their strength even if I'm scared inside. Mothers are so very brave!
•
I think it's important to support other women in this journey. Whether you have kids, are married or not...it's so important to be transparent. We do no good for each other if we constantly see all of the "good" highlights on social media. It's so important to see through all of that and know that everyone has flaws and trials. You're not alone! That's why relationship (real relationship) is so important to build so in those times of joy and sorrow, you have someone there that can walk through it alongside of you. Reach out to others you care for and actively work on that relationship. Not only will they be a blessing to you someday, but you too, will be a blessing to them! It's all about give & take.

"God honors the brave." I said this to a group of college students a few months ago, but really, I was saying it to myself too. (And they've been so sweet to repeat it back to me on several occasions 😉)
.
Bravery I've learned, has little to do with the absence of fear. A lack of healthy fear is more foolishness than anything. Bravery rather, is stepping out, with courage, in the midst of it. Even if your palms are clammy and your mouth is getting dry. It's the action of throwing one shaking leg over the side of the boat even if you think it will plunge into the darkness of the water. It's breathing and speaking and showing up in spite of the butterflies who have thrown the dance part in your belly. It's smiling in the face of what terrifies you and leaning on a strength that is beyond cute phrases and based on a faith that can surely move mountains. It is moving with confidence in the direction of the giant with humility and confidence in the One who called you, clothed you, and commissioned you
.
To all those who are bravely doing the thing God has asked you to do, be encouraged-- He is with you. You can only see a portion of what He does... about your situation, and yourself

Meet Michelle, this week's woman of VALOR. I met Michelle in college and we were instant friends the moment we met. Her heart is absolute gold and you know without a shadow of a doubt upon meeting her that she loves Jesus. Here's a bit of Michelle's heart on being a woman of VALOR:
•
For me, it takes the most amount of courage to be my true self. I have a type of personality that can lose itself in other people. On the positive side, I can be a chameleon and get along with almost anyone in the moment. But that's because I can take on their personality traits and attitudes in order to fit in with them. That includes other people's interests and dreams! It takes courage for me to separate myself from all of that.
•
I have to constantly ask myself, "is this what I want?" I love my job, but it is always presenting itself with new outside opportunities. I'll take on something just because it's what someone wants of me. All they have to do is ask, and I'm convinced! :) For me, being brave simply means being able to say "no." It sounds simple and for some people, it comes easily. But like I said before, I don't often consider my own interests and dreams! •
I don't like to tell people what to do. Don't get me wrong, I can be a bossy-pants at times! But I love asking questions and exploring what it is that sets someone else's passions on fire! I also think processing with someone, helps that individual discover what they truly believe about themselves and what they want. I was just in a conversation with a dear friend, where I shared something new I was learning about myself. She encouraged me and affirmed me, and that's what I needed to have confidence in my new passion! I would love to have that same affect on the people in my life!

A year ago I typed up some words and threw them into the cyber world for all to read. #obedienceoverhustle was just a timid thought back then. I was curious if perhaps I wasn't the only one wrestling with the term "hustle" and how it made me feel. I wanted to know that I wasn't alone. That I wasn't the only one reading the words of Jesus and seeing a contrast between how He told us to live small, and how the experts chanted "grow big". He modeled a life dependent on His Father, obedient in every moment, even in death, but the world promises great results if we go faster, push harder, and achieve our dreams at any cost
.
A year ago it was a quiet whisper, but not anymore. I'm am more than ever convinced that God is looking for our obedience, in all things: our careers and relationships, in our hearts and our finances. Not just in the giant leaps of faith, but in the simple and mundane parts of our day. Not just the bold moments where we display our faith in action, but in the anonymous and unseen movements where we choose His way. In all things, moving in step with His leading, listening for that still small voice, eagerly anticipating what He says next, and courageously stepping in to every act with a heart willing and surrendered

❤️Love conquers all! ❤️ •
Our 24 hours without kids started off...
Saturday at Johnson's Orchard Wine Festival with friends till midnight. 🍷 •
Sunday after only 4 hours of sleep we woke up to go run 8 miles on the trails @lmsnowflex. 🏃🏽‍♀️ •
Sunday we crawled back in bed slept till 11AM and then went to @eljefelynchburg and ate a huge pile of their pork nachos. 🐷We then got so much done at home and decided to go on a 14 mile bike ride on the Blackwater trail to the end and back! 🚴🏼‍♀️We ended our adventure @rivermontpizzahalloffame 🍕 •
I would say that was an adventurous 24 hours!

{What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position of the work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and work flow.} - Martin Luther
.
I'm a mom who constantly struggles to remember what's most important, how short the years are, and how blessed I am. In an age when mom's find refuge in their screens full of others who also haven't showered, changed out of pjs, and are just happy to make it to bedtime when they can fall on the couch with a glass of wine and fist bump all the other moms who have "survived", I want to live a better way
.
To not just survive, but thrive. To celebrate the small wins, to reveal in the tiny victories, to find a way to walk in thanksgiving, not just because it's something "Jesus WANTS us to do", or that we are commanded TO do, but because it's something we CAN do
.
Today I am thankful for: a daughter who has fallen in love with words, and another who has the mind of an engineer. For breakfast together as a family, and an air-conditioned library bursting with books for us to learn from, and get lost in. I'm thankful that I GET to stay home with my kids, that they are healthy and strong, that they are full of joyful songs (all.day.long!) and questions that come from minds that are eager to learn. I'm thankful for a husband who pushes me to pursue my dream, and for a new season of life that is allowing me to step into it. I'm thankful for God's continued patience with me, and for never-ending grace. For second chances, and thirds, and beyond. For cups that overflow, and lists that are unending...

I'm thankful for God's continued patience with me, and for never-ending grace. For second chances, and thirds, and beyond. For cups that overflow, and lists that are unending... #mythankfullist  #getaftergrateful  #thankfulthursday  #obedienceoverhustle  #thrivemoms
Kicked off the Fourth of July with Balloons over Rockbridge 5K! Happy to have gotten 1th place overall female and 5th right behind the top guys! Hardest cross country race I have ever run at the Lexington Horse Center Course! Then went hiking at Devils Backbone and tonight the winner of the race gets to go in a Hot Air balloon so this will be such a fun experience! 🏆🏃🏽‍♀️🏅#race #5K #running
