Made my first whole roasted turkey this year with aromatic veggies celery, carrots, whole crushed garlic cloves, onions, chicken broth, light beer and a dry spice rub topped with melted butter, whew it was a workout 🏋
In recent years some of my family from Georgia has started making the trek up here to celebrate thanksgiving at our house. One of my favorite things about it is how cozy it feels to have everyone under one roof. Even though it means every bed is taken and there are people sleeping on the couch and the floor, there is something about it that just feels holiday-y and like being a kid again and I love that
Gobble till you wobble, am I right?? Also - again - how is it already Thanksgiving tomorrow?? Anyone want to let me know?
As a kid I would always spend my Tuesday nights with my grandparents at the bowling alley and stay until closing time. A late late night dinner at Perkins would follow and then home with them to help clean the house the next day. Then my aunt and I would watch old Thanksgiving episodes of The West Wing while we prepped the stuffing, turkey, pies, and potatoes.
That tradition lasted until I was a freshman in college - yes, my grandparents came to my college and picked me up that Tuesday afternoon and took me to the bowling alley!
What I wouldn’t give to have one more Thanksgiving week like that. At least I know they had fun up in heaven this year bowling, eating mints, and prepping for a feast of their own.
We here at Sock Bun Studios sincerely hope that you have an amazing holiday tomorrow with your loved ones! #happythanksgiving#gobblegobble#modernmaker
