Día 26 - Baños 🚌 Quito:
I didn’t have any real plans since I hadn’t originally planned on visiting Banos - last minute change since Tren Ecuador cancelled the return train trip. Nothing like making plans on a whim.
As it was, the “Swing at the end of the world” at La Casa de Arbol was calling my name. It was as much fun as it sounds but much much much less dangerous (really Mum!) It faces Volcano Tungurahua but with the morning mist, you can’t really see it.
From there, I hiked downhill to more thermal baths but with spectacular views. I heeded the advice of locals’ to avoid the trail as they said it would be very slippery & walked along the road instead. (Definition of a safe traveller!) The piscinas (pools) and jacuzzi at Luna Runtun overlooking Banos was fantastic, even more so cause there were just 2 other people. Look at me touching the sky!
Stayed in the water for far too long…only cos I was waiting for Cafe del Cielo (Sky Cafe) downstairs to open for lunch! Good timing too, it was overcast when I was soaking it up but the sun came out as well as other tourists.
The bus ride back to Quito started with a giggle - vendors come on board to sell their wares and at the first stop to pick up more passengers, an older lady selling drinks tried to let passengers pass her…but she was a larger lady and the aisles not so much. So my lap became the resting place for her stomach - I’m not sure she noticed (or cared). Unf the rest of the trip was the bus ride from hell. It wavered between 28-31C inside the bus and I had to be sitting next to a vent pushing out hot air! It was a very long 3.5 hours…
Inny - "You'll not only learn more about boxing fights after fight, but you'll learn so much about yourself throughout" I don't forget words like these, if you know me. 😆 This was from my second ever fight. 💯
This is why I'm grateful towards TEAM WCBE and I'm already missing it, gives us the opportunity to step in the ring, not only have I created a memory for myself but others around. Many have done & you can too.
8 weeks training together and raising. Living your dream!
A huge part of me wants me to be a charity boxer all my life 🙃 as it's all about giving.💙
Recap of a memorable weekend!🔵⚪️🔴
Sure the outcome of the game is not what we hoped for, but the weekend as a whole was one to be remembered as one of those once in a lifetime things! Weekends like these are ones that remind us how special this time is in our lives and to soak up every minute of it. We could not be more proud of Jeff and feel blessed we get to be a part of this crazy hockey life! Oh, and ya know the saying “it takes a village...” Without the help of grandparents, parents, siblings, and friends etc. these memories would not happen (or would just be a lot less more enjoyable for me)! So, BIG thank you to our village for helping a mama out so we are able to have experiences like these as a family! Feeling extra grateful today! ♥️

Floating next to the love of my life. 🐠💕 We spent 4 amazing days at the National Park Chapada Diamantina. On this day, we went snorkeling in a pitch black cave with flashlights (which Sam hated by the way, because of his claustrophobia 😂). Once outside the cave, we got the chance to explore the fairylike lake with lots of colourful fish. The water was so clear and blue! 😍
One year ago, I had the amazing opportunity to live and travel in Brazil for 6 months. 🌎 I was so busy enjoying this once in a lifetime experience that I didn't share the pictures of this incredible journey. (Only six pictures made it on my Instagram). Since deadlines and exams are coming closer and I could use some distraction, I decided that it would be fun to select and share some of the best moments. I also hope I can show you guys some of the beauty the country has to offer, since few people know a lot about it.
